I’ve lived in Sutton my whole life and I can tell you it’s shit. No more factory’s. Nothing but Turkish fkn barbers charity shops and takeaways. It’s a shit hole full of immigrants. Fact. Argue all you want. It’s a fact.

Did you know that when Beeching cut the route from Worksop to Nottingham that many people in the town lost their jobs in Nottingham. And now? We have the Robin Hood line. Thank goodness for that, but I hope that Marples and Beeching rot in hell for what they did to the railways. It would be a good thing to get the Robin Hood route double track working for its entire length. It would save a lot of hassles, and enable a more efficient service to be provided.

The shot of the Austerity shows it entering Annesley Tunnel on the G.C. line. The higher, and shorter one, bored by the Midland Railway and resurrected for the Robin Hood line, is Kirkby Tunnel. Both cut through Robin Hood Hills.

Oh for the old days. I grew up in Mansfield next to the stags ground. Spend my summers in titchfield Park. My mum would give me a new pair of plimpsoles at the beginning of the holidays every year. We had sweet FA. BUT HAPPY. We had sunshine back then. I live in Thailand now. I got my sunshine back.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but it should be mentioned that this was the Dave Mackay Team in this clip, not Clough and Taylor's. Great clip and thanks for uploading but this needs to be flagged up. C & T were famously different in their approach to European games compared to Mackay, and sadly I think they (Derby) thought they'd got this sewn up at the Baseball Ground. C & T's approach to the return leg in Madrid would have been so, so different. Charlie George famously signed for Derby though, because Dave Mackay was a big hero of his. Still a great team, but TOTALLY different in certain respects to Clough's.

Some great images. I grew up in Sutton-in-Ashfield, attending Forest Glade Infants and Junior schools. 3:40 - that's later than the 1970s. It's probably the mid to late 80s. There was a long-closed butcher's shop standing where the sand is - J Willey Family Butcher's - until about 1986. And to the right of the image an old house stood which was left to go derelict. The new houses seen under construction went up around the same time the butcher's shop was demolished, in the mid to late 80s.

Nice video. Not sure about back when central ran the route, but now, the services aren't terminated at Woodhouse if the worksop is late. At Woodhouse there is 1 train to worksop an hour and 2 to Nottingham.

Thank you. Quite a while back a bloke I met here in Tokyo mentioned he was from Mansfield and said: "you've probably never heard of it" I told him I had and also Sutton too. He was flabbergasted I was posted to the region during the miners strike working for a French company. I still have very fond memories of the region. Thank you for posting this beautiful video it brought back some memories. have a great day and once again thanks

I spent the summer of 1976 at Skegness playing in a band , and the fire was in the first week of the season , I think ! But my drum kit was in the building that burnt down , and I was fortunate that a friend helped me get it out before it was burnt down , Some of the other musicians lost there instruments that night , I remember that they where all taken to a music shop in Leeds I think ,? And where supplied with new instruments, It was great season and another thing sticks out in my mind , Bernard Mannining was sacked from the Midnight Cabreret , because of his bad language , and Bob monk house took his place ! Great times , Love to hear from any one who was performing their that year ! Phill bell band ,
