We can actually save Social Security while lowering the retirement age to sixty. By ending the cap, raising the payroll tax on employer, not employee, and implementing a 3% wealth tax on anyone who has ten million dollars or more. Additionally, a 3% land value tax ensure the wealthy cannot withdraw our money from Social Security will create a surplus.
@noahlamoureaux64624 сағат бұрын
They left out a lot of details. See, productivity has increased, but wages haven't, and neither have prices gone down. This has happened because of monopolization and consolidation, which have led to little to no competition. Productivity is good when there's plenty of competition. It's not good when there are monopolies.
@AgentxOO24 сағат бұрын
Government creates monopolies through barriers to entry like seas of regulations, minimum wage laws, and intellectual property laws.

When you take a narrow perspective, you see only what that narrow focus shows. People that loose jobs can hardly be called wealthier, can they? Corporations get wealthier and the GDP increases when production gets more efficient, but that does not mean that the unemployed get wealthier! There is a big difference in economics on macrolevel and on a personal level. How do you think people without work and no money will buy all the time saving apliances? It is more likely so, that they will spend more time on ”just taking care of daily life”… And those with money have all the modetn comforts and hence no need to employ anyone to take care of ”daily life”. Oh wait a minute; the have the money to pay someone to work their machines, so they can enjoy more ”free time”. Minimum wages is a drop in the ocean for for those who are now wealthier…

Clearly explains why they created credit. Everyone will earn credit for the things they do that are good. And everyone will not get credit for the things they do that are bad. And..., that credit will be spent on everything including water and air. You won't pay for the air but you will get charged for how much you consume. It may seem funny now but 150 years ago buying water was considered just as ridiculous.
@WilliamStansbury-xb4ui9 сағат бұрын
Now imagine the top credit first class person being robbed of all of his credit and ending up having to sleep in an alleyway. Going from first class to 3rd class in 10 minutes. It will happen. And you won't complain about your undercooked fast food burger to the robot manager because he will not listen. And people will become OCD having to eat the french fries that look exactly the same each one same length same size. We might all go crazy. 😜 No more pay phones and no legitimate quarters to give for people to use. And you can't talk much or express your opinions because you'll get charged for how much CO2 you express into the atmosphere.

Even if we ignore the fact that jobs are actually being eliminated, we live on a finite planet and can't increase productivity forever.

We are far, far from the material resource limitations of the planet let alone what could be done with them with further technology. But even if we ever got there, Earth is only a speck of dust in the cosmos. The cosmos might also be finite, but countless people will have ever better lives before we hit that limit.

Free trade advocates claim that free trade reduce the cost of goods by importing from places with cheaper labor costs, but it also puts downward pressure on wages as local workers are now competing against foreign workers. You might think that this balances out, but there is one thing that cannot under any circumstance be imported... land and real estate. This creates a situation like we are currently in where wages are to low for home ownership. Additionally - I am not so convinced that free trade always results in cheaper prices for the consumer. From my own anecdotal experience it seems that the prices on goods once moved abroad to be manufactured stay the same. Companies will continue to charge whatever the consumer is willing to pay for their product regardless of the underlying cost to produce that product. My own company I work for has a plant in MX, and a plant in US. Both charge about the same amount for the same products, but MX workers are paid 1/3rd the amount of our U.S. employees. Also, from the point of view of free trade advocates trade deficits are not a big deal. They are a VERY big deal though. If you have more money going out than coming in you will eventually run out of money. The only way you don't run out of money is if you have the ability to print more money. Trade deficits are only sustainable if you debase your currency which robs all of us of our wealth.

Definitely a cost and detriment on the economy, even in London around 1850 they recognized licensing is a all loss no gain system, they made a pictograph art propaganda that showed a storefront, one under a free open market system full of low prices and great selections, and another storefront, the restricted market system which has high priced goods and barely any choices to choose from. Or here in the states, our more modern critic of occupational licensing, Dick carpenter and Morris Kliener who describe licensing as the “bottleneck effect”, that restricts the supply of goods and services while also restricting competition and entry into the markets. Watch the institute for justice video called “Duck Carpenter on bottler neckers” it sums up the issue here in the states presently pretty well

Zoning laws that require a 2500 ft. minimum size, contribute to the crisis. We live in homes that are way too large, because the laws force us to. 700 Sq. Feet is enough for 2 people, yet we live in obnoxiously large homes.

We run a 501c3 NPO that focuses on Low-Income housing. The media is what causes homelessness. The media is the arch-nemesis of Housing orgs. Typically media has no expertise on the subject, but they talk, give advice and act like they are the leaders of the solution. They should be interviewing experts, like us, but they interview some content creator instead. The moment that media, airs EXPERTS, then we can tackle the housing crisis. The EPA just awarded us a $12,000,000+ grant, to address the issue. So I ask why we aren't the leaders of this issue.
