This felt more like an Olympics opening ceremony than an opening of a Disney park. Not surprising since Salt Lake City was hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics. The entire park in its early days felt more like the Olympics than a Disney park.

It really is criminal how little Disney thinks of Hercules, Pocahontas and Hunchback these days.
@kaylovesdisney45827 ай бұрын
I wish Pocahontas didn't get the negative views it seems to get nowadays 😔. This show proves it would have made a beautiful Broadway / West End production. I wish i could have been there in the 90s when this was on. 🍂

Fun fact, Dave Goelz came in as Bunsen via backstage before other cast members continue when the duo traveled to Florida and Hong Kong. While Steve whitmire was only brought in to record exclusive dialogue for beaker

Ii was SO FORTUNATE to see this astounding version of "Steps in Time" on January 19th, 2001 in person at the Hyperion Theater in DCA on a special preview day. I have NEVER seen any musical act at Disneyland Resort that could even come close to the opening Snow White number in this show! The music and talented singer , combined with the costuming (and hair, clothes styled to the 1930's), and the phenomenal set with the seven dwarves cells that dropped down (each with a "ker-chunk" sound) that ended up filling the entire background of the set, then Snow Whites dress reveals 3 scenes from the movie. All combined was completely AMAZING and ASTOUNDING!!! Several other songs in this version were remarkable, as well, athought opening was definitely the highlight. Other notable segments have to include The Beauty and the Beast Trio as a candelabra, what amazing vocalists!!!!! And the solo performance of the song from Hercules! A Whole New World also has amazing vocalists WOW again, however they should have had some special set piece for that song. My complaint about the show, was , you didn't know what to expect for the next number. Going from Snow White to Jungle Book was just too jarring. They really should have taken a hint from the show title "Steps in Time" and just just take it a step at a time, from decade to decade. Instead of jumping all around. I did like the Jungle Book Segment coreography was good, although the costuming was a disaster for the portion of the show. and the Hakuna Matata segment choreography and costume was good too. They just needed to be set in the right sequence. The biggest failure of the of the show was under the sea, horrible costumes and awful choreography.

One other comment, I'm sure the variations of these famous disney songs were new renditions specifically for this show, however , over the past 20 plus years, i have heard these some of these renditions in shows anad parades and other entertainment, in Disney Parks around the World
