@@HitchHikingYeti yea man, they just tore down the bridge to the chapel.. my kids play soccer at frank lisk, that part is backed up to the fence at stonewall, but traffic gets crazy in and out of the park on Saturdays. So they’re doing another entrance throw stonewall somewhere. I’ve heard the sirens go off once while watching my son play soccer. Not nearly as concerned about it as my mother was.

I was 1st introduced to da beach when I went to Myrtle at 16 yrs old with my best friend's family...fell in love with it. When I got married & had 2 toddlers around '83, '84, our little family & my Mom, with younger siblings in tow, would rent houses, pre airbnb, through realtors or motels at Carolina Beach. My daughter, wearing glasses at 5 yrs old, got on the rough bumper cars with her Dad & me looking through those huge windows with bars hehe, saw their car get violently bumped & her glasses flew off onto the floor area! Somehow, no one ran over them & her Dad was able to drive by & reached down to swoop them up! We always fixed our breakfasts in the places we stayed but I definitely remember the Plantation House & when Burgers & Bites had gas pumps. My favorite Christmas movies are the old classics...It's a wonderful Life, first 2 Home Alone & yes, Christmas Vaca & I too, laugh at that thing, especially when Chevy's up in the attic & later says... where's the Tylenol hahaha Thanks for the updated look at The Oceaneer. I hope the renovations will be completed & I just might have to rent a room there next summer for old time's sake

I love these old towns in the US. I know they are not what they use to be when the coal industry was thriving.Very pretty some of them & have lovely buildings & old houses. Love how the chickens were following you around! I love the countryside of WV very pretty. I come from a coal area in the UK, there are no cosl mines left now & its so sad. The areas are now business parks not the same, train tracks see very little traffic now but i remember seeing coal trains as long as the eye could see one after the other full of coal on there way to the power stations & docks for export. Those were the days! Thanks for showing us around WV, what you said about workers payments only to be used in coal owners shops happened here too. Communism but we were happier i believe! ❤😊

I grew up in this town, and Curtis is a cousin of mine. I worked at Melvin's in the early 90's when Pat and Ann Melvin still owned it. Actually met my wife there, and we have been married for 22 years. The locals call it, " the pool room". Pats grandfather started the business, and it use to have pool tables inside and they sold only burgers and hot dogs. Pat made money off the volume of customers. Back then you couldn't even get cheese. The average day, we went through 400-600 pounds of ground beef, which was supplied by the no farmers market behind it.

Very sad, however the damage is actually minor. Back when super storm Sandy hit our entire East Coast from Northern Virginia all the way up to our border with Canada over 890 THOUSAND homes were lost and over 2 million people were suddenly homeless. But that was not the worst part of Sandy. The worst part was that the republicans in Congress made those 2 million homeless people wait for over 6 months before that would approve any FEMA help. This is merely the outcome when we take Risks. Building along coastline and along riverbanks and in river basins we are gambling and rolling the dice. which can roll snake eyes.

A stalled hurricane that drops 30+ inches of rain, over 30 trillion gallons in such a short period of time! Natural right? I believe that this was a man caused weather manipulation! Biden, after granting an eleven year pardon to his crack addict son, tax evasion, illegal gun purchased ,deviant, flies off to some 3rd world place and gives billions of tax payers monies! But, nothing, even obfuscation of those who would help west NC in such dire times as they face 2 months later! Please God perform Psalm 109:8 on all these wicked!

I saw a video that they found a piece of the Rainbow Bridge in Lake Lure. It was part of the red and orange section, and the red section had some of the little white painted paw prints on it. Someone else found a plaque. It's so sad the this happened to that beautiful Flowering Bridge and esp. since it took away all those sweet collars of loved one's dogs. Let's just pretend all those collars went on up to Heaven to go back on the precious dogs, at least we can hope that's what happened. Great video and the updates. We've seen so much of the destruction, it's nice to see that people are trying their best to get life back to normal the best they can!
