Before you swapped to the 18 inch setup, did you notice tire noise/humming from the stock 20 inch setup? I just took a test drive of a 2024 M3P and a 2024 M3LR on the 19 inch wheels, and the M3P had a very noticeable and constant tire humming at speeds above 50 mph. Wow, great video. I really like your style in presenting technical information. I take delivery of my new M3P in a couple of weeks and I need to get my spare wheels and tire set up and ready to go upon car delivery due to our freezing temps in Michigan. Quick questions: how tight is the clearance between the inside of the rear wheel and brake calipers on your ‘24 M3P? Did you need to position the weights on the far front or rear of the wheel? I’m leaning towards your TS5 wheels with the Hankook ION AS tire as well but on 19 inch wheels. I’m hoping for a slightly sportier feel with the 40 series tire over the 45 and I am assuming efficiency and acceleration will be the same as the 18 inch wheels. Is this incorrect? Thanks for your help!

If you live in a hot summer place like AZ or NV where it gets 110° and have a M3P you already realize how important a warm battery is. A warm preconditioned battery is also important for range too.
@LearningFast
@LearningFast 15 күн бұрын
@@Shabobidhuffy yes, 110 degrees ambient would be good but it really starts to shine once you get above 120 degrees F. Be careful about recommending a hot battery for range. Yes, a cold battery will get less range but a really hot battery gets worse range too. 70 degrees F is supposed to be the ideal temperature for efficiency and that is what the level 2 preconditioning tries to achieve typically.

SOC of charge matters a ton too. Test the car at 10% and 100%. I don't disagree about temperature analysis at all though
@LearningFast
@LearningFast 15 күн бұрын
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 while SOC does make a significant acceleration difference below 20% and especially under 10% that isn’t really relevant. Who is racing under 20%? Plus, if you heat the battery at any SOC it will raise the max discharge value significantly. I think my example that shows 50% SOC having a significantly higher max discharge value than 100% SOC with a cooler battery really shows that temperature is by far the most important metric.

@LearningFast
@LearningFast 15 күн бұрын
@@andrewskaterrr you don’t absolutely have to hold your foot on the brake the whole time. However, you do need to press the brake at least once to be sure Preconditioning will work properly. I wanted to make sure that everyone knew exactly what can affect preconditioning or not. From my experience sitting in the seat with my foot on the brake works every single time. However, as long as I tap the brake at least once and remain in the seat I haven’t had any problems with it not fully preconditioning quickly. Putting it in park definitely seems to run the heating more aggressively as opposed to putting it in drive.

This is my 2nd M3P, and there's simply no comparison to the previous model ... in comfort, power, fit & finish and ride quality. It absolutely blows away my current Dinan BMW M3 in every category. I dumped my E63 & my heavily modded big block '66 Shelby Cobra (not Mustang) once I drove a M3P ... it's that good. The efficiency is even better now too. I just came back from a long road trip I do frequently & was shocked how much less juice it used compared to my '21 M3P & Model Y. As so many testers have said: this is very probably the best car ever made. If there's any dream car you've ever wanted, I've probably owned a couple of them ... the new M3P is better.
