Thank you for sharing this video of the former Milwaukee Road. Did the Milwaukee remove the ABS wayside signals, or did the TC&W remove them? Is this track warrant territory?

Lots of people were watching or taking pictures of this train. Makes me wonder why. Was this a special occasion?

Cool to see the railfans the other way. We need some cab rides in HD.

What was the occasion of a lot of people watching the train go by this day?

Boy, there are sure some pretty long sections of line that used to be double tracked that are now only single track.

@jaydee975, I am sure the pre-1930s Milwaukee Road here, as in other places across the system, was Automatic Block Signaled double track. Track speed was- Passenger - 79, Freight - 60 MPH. During the thirties, Milwaukee Road pulled up what double track it could to make a little money. Building and then ⚡ electrifying ⚡ portions of the Pacific Coast Extension forever put the railroad in the red!

Why they going so slow
@timofeegraaay81653 күн бұрын
I think this a line with a maximum speed of 25 mph or less due to track conditions and such. Many small regional lines have speed limitations of 10-25 mph. It would drive me crazy but it is for safety reasons and requirements of the Federal Railroad Administration.

My Friday delivery routes always ran along side the ex Milwaukee Road from Olivia to Big Bend or Milan. Always my favorite route I used to do 20 years ago.

watched your CGW some stuff video some great stuff...but i gotta know.....who was the band playing the music? I gotta have that i'm a musician as well as a train lover thx
@PrairieWorks10 ай бұрын
Pleased the CGW stuff was worth the effort to make a video of it. As for the music, I have no idea who the band is. It was created using software by SmartSounds which permits the user to make music tracks of any length. Love this software. Jeff Borne PrairieWorks

8:00 Dakota Avenue You see those weird-shaped supports the crossing lights are mounted on? Shaped to have an octagonal hole in the middle of them? When they were built, they had a standard stop sign in that hole that rotated to face the road when the crossing was activated and to face the track, invisible to the road, normally. They were common around Minnesota and maybe other places for a few decades. Little bit of trivia.

Some of the street labels on this are completely wrong. Just before going over 94. The street is Lyndale Avenue not "Mississippi Drive"
