When you press the note repeat button, you’ll want to press button number 1 above the left screen display. The top left of the display should be highlighted after you press button 1. It says “Note Repeat” i believe (sorry, i dont have my maschine in front of me right now). Then you won’t have to hold it. Let me know if youre still having trouble

What's going on, well glad you asked, today it was a sweltering afternoon, and the sun blazed high in the sky, casting long shadows across the backyard of the family home. Sarah, the eldest of the two siblings, was busy setting up a makeshift obstacle course with her brother Max, who was always ready to turn even the most mundane tasks into an adventure. Their laughter echoed as they tossed brightly colored flags around, each signaling a section of their improvised "Olympics." “Can you believe they have an Extreme Machine snatching race for the Olympics?” Max exclaimed, holding a microphone as if it were the Olympic torch. “Yeah! And we should totally enter!” Sarah said, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “But we’d have to practice first. Let’s grab Mom’s ironing board!” Just then, their cockatiel, named Mango, fluttered down from the low-hanging branch of the tree, perched on Max's shoulder, as if he were the honorary mascot of their backyard games. With his feathery crown and vibrant yellow face, Mango squawked cheerfully, contributing to the chaotic symphony of summer. “Alright, buddy, you’re our cheerleader,” Max declared, giving Mango a gentle scratch on the head. With the ironing board commandeered from the laundry room and set up like a grand podium, Sarah and Max took turns critiquing each other’s sampling techniques. They took the absurdity of their new sport seriously, even going so far as to create an Extreme sampling scoreboard, complete with ridiculous categories like “Stunts While sampling” and “Best Use of a Spanner while using drum pads.” “Okay, next up is the spanner toss! How far can you throw it while holding the microphone?” Max giggled, running to grab the tools from their father’s shed. “Easy, watch this!” Sarah said, balancing the mic in one hand and the spanner in the other. With a fierce determination, she threw the mic as far as her little arms could muster. It landed with a thud, slightly klutzy, but that was part of the fun. Mango squawked in encouragement as Sarah ran to measure her throw. “Not bad! Five feet!” she shouted, puffing out her chest like a champion. Max, eager to outperform his sister, followed suit. With a fierce concentration and the maschine almost slipping from his grip, he threw the spanner with all his might. It soared past Sarah's mark, landing much further away. “Yes! I did it!” he cheered, jumping up and down. Mango flapped his wings and chirped in celebration, as if he understood the gravity of the moment. After a few rounds of competing and strategizing the best ways to combine stunts with ironing, Sarah glanced at the sky and declared it time for the final event: the “Maschine snatching competition Each sibling would have to race across the yard with their Maschine controller, performing a set of ridiculous tasks along the way. “I’ll be the judge!” Mango squawked, or at least that’s how Sarah interpreted his enthusiastic chirping. The siblings lined up at the imaginary start line, arms pronounced in mock seriousness. The countdown began, and just like that, they were off! Sarah tripped over the garden hose but rolled back up, laughing, and continued her dash. Max, though coming in strong, precariously juggled the iron in one hand, nearly dropping it while trying to dodge the flowerpots scattered around. In the end, they collapsed in laughter under the gazebo fabric canopy with Mango flittering about them, narrating their story of joy with his tiny chirps. The day's events had turned into something truly ridiculous and absolutely memorable. As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the backyard, the Evans family savored the moment of togetherness. The Olympics may have seemed far away, but here in their little world, they had created their very own event filled with laughter, sharp wit, and the unbreakable bonds of family. And in their hearts, they knew this peculiar concoction of an Extreme machine snatching competition, spanner toss, and an enthusiastic cockatiel, was as thrilling as any grand Olympic sport.

Is clips something that is relatively new for maschine? I'm asking because in 2020 i bought a Maschine mk3 and was able to understand the general work flow of it and really enjoyed except for one MAJOR thing that i couldn't wrap my head around. That was to have the ability to freely move around a "clip" linearly all through out the track. When i had it you were not able to do this and the work around for it was to create another "scene" at the exact time in the track that you wanted it and it was just a very sloppy and frustrating way to do it. So much so, that i returned my mk3 to guitar center just 3 weeks later, before the 30 day return period ended. I was really disappointed because i really REALLY wanted to keep it because besides that i was loving it. Obviously from your video it looks like that is "fixed" and i am feeling very excited to get a mk3 again because even after being with Ableton for a little while i still think maschine does it in a way that just makes so much sense and feels extremely intuitive with the mk3 and maschine working together
@MusicMemor
@MusicMemor Ай бұрын
Yeah, I believe clips are relatively new (a couple of years maybe). I couldn't imagine using maschine without clips. I don't blame you for returning it. They add so much to the workflow and flexibility. I'm hyped for you to get your Maschine MK3 again and have clips available to you this time. It sounds like Native Instruments will be updating their software sometime soon, so hopefully that comes with substantial improvements

Great video and overview! I will definitely get into clips a LOT more because of this. One thing about the choke groups: for the 808, I've always found it easier to set it to ADSR mode and drag the notes out. This provides extra control over the release, ensuring there are no clicks when the sound is cut off.

Nice mate - watched the live performance yesterday so great to see this follow so quickly - like you say… nothing crazy technical - more a tool kit of fundamental moves to combine and interchange which make the music change over time and get you out of that loop and into a (live) arrangement. Plus all done in a really hands on and immersive way which (for me) is deffo where there magic of Maschine lies. Really enjoyed the tune and the insights… thanks for your ongoing efforts making and sharing these vids

great tutorial thank you! What kind of approach you suggest when I have full song acapella and I build song around it. I have also Ableton but do you recommend create only clips? Or what is the best way to do this. Cuz if I out first acapella and then make scenes acapella cuts always. I can make blank scenes first and arrangement and then put acapella. Suggest your best way on this case. Thank you!
@MusicMemor
@MusicMemor Ай бұрын
Usually, I would try to add some scenes and then add the acapella with a clip. It's okay that when you add more scenes, the acapella clip cuts. You can drag the ends of the acapella clip and that will solve the issue

I tried to figure this out after reading your comment, but I haven't found a way to do so using "zone" in maschine. I'd probably do this manually by putting the same pattern on two different soundslots. Then offsetting one of them

and how do you add fx like reverb ?i.e. i want to add reverb but only to the snare in the chorus part.
@MusicMemor
@MusicMemor 2 ай бұрын
Hey! This will probably be hard to understand through text, but you can put a reverb effect on the snare. Then you can create an automation for the reverb to only occur during the chorus part of your song. You can record the automation through the controller and edit/refine it within the software in the automation area at the bottom portion of the software screen. You can also create an automation with an effect similar to how I did it in this video for tip 14 (use a clip) kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3-kaWCcrqysicksi=hN7UkaAXxWTW7edx
