What’s the increased hp and torque after installing this exhaust system?
@azraelspeaks20 күн бұрын
NGL, that front intake during rain would freak me out. How is it possible to make sure that no water makes it to the filter? Apologies if this is a dumb question, but can you make a vid showing the liquid dynamics of the intake? Not asking for any trade secrets, but I would hate to spend $600 on an intake and not drive it when it is pouring outside. Really interested in this, mainly because it is so different than the other cold air intakes. And I know you guys made the intake for the 2nd gen, so it apparently works. Would just like to know and understand how.

Is it a full 3" exhaust?
@STILLENvids28 күн бұрын
Is it a 3 inch exhaust from the flange on the downpipe to the split at the rear wheels. At the split where it goes from one pipe to two, it will be dual 2.5 inch pipes to the tips. We tested the 3 inch all the way both with and without a resonator and decided the 2.5 inch section gave it a better tone.

We have tested both of the versions of the gas only motor, but the findings on this video were with the lower output version. We have plans to continue this test with the higher output as well as the hybrid version in the near future, especially with the new 4runner sharing the same engine. My gut feeling is the results will be similar across all 3 versions of the 2.4L motor, and we will put this to the test!

@STILLENvids awesome. Thanks for the reply. Im running 93 octane and i use to run on 87 and you can tell the difference. The engine doesn't work as hard as it used to.

We have designed the intake with California emissions compliance in mind, retaining the carbon trap in the lower box that is required to get the emissions compliance certificate. Although it is not yet approved for sale into California, we are working on it.

Those seem like pretty low dyno numbers (especially on 87) compared to the claimed numbers by toyota. Toyota has overstated the hp of these trucks by about 10 to 40 based on 20% drivetrain loss depending on what fuel the engine is supposedly rated on which should obviously match the recommended fuel octane.
@STILLENvidsАй бұрын
Our dyno tends to read a little lower than most. In our case, we are using the dyno to show the measurable change between runs more so than an exact peak number or 1:1 stock baseline. Also, sometimes we cannot utilize the 1:1 gear as most of the time it is a higher gear (5th,6th,7th), and we would actually run into the speed governor before we could fully get through the gear.

Tbh any gas engine: even if the manifacturer says you can put 87 doesnt mean you should. 91 shell v power is the minimum i put in any gas car.

Really would like to see some tests with the hybrid, you say it’s stacked up so should see the same results however maybe the electric motor cuts in less because the computer already detects more power?
@STILLENvidsАй бұрын
Hybrid testing will be coming shortly! Based on our experience with the other Toyota Hybrid models, as well as some other manufacturers, the electric engine does not cut out with the extra power. It will continue to "stack" the electric motors full power on top of the gas engine's power.
@vitkobylka6432Ай бұрын
How does the increased octane or added horsepower affect longevity? One also has to consider the whole drive line not just the engine.

So if the studies show that the 2024 Tacoma's have a better performance on 91 octane, why would the engineers at Tacoma recommend 87? Could this be something that they missed or didn't care to study? Is using 91 octane situational only (can't imagine switching back and forth is ever the route to go)? Not doubting STILLEN studies as you've proven your recommendations time and time again, but more curious of any long term or short term disadvantages of using 91 octane?
@brkbtjunkieАй бұрын
I’m glad that 93 is recommended in the 2UZ-FE but not required. Now if I could only find gas around me that’s not e15
@craigg4246Ай бұрын
Higher Octane is not more resistant to pre-ignition, only to detonation. They are not the same thing. Pre-ignition is when the combustion process starts BEFORE the spark event. Usually by an over heated valve or piece of hard carbon in the combustion chamber. Detonation is an explosive, uncontrolled cumbustion that occurs AFTER the spark event. Higher octane will help reduce/avoid detonation. Most modern cars have no detonation though, even on low octane fuel. This is because they have knock sensors inside the engine. As soon as any detonation is detected by the sensors, ignition timing is retarded as much as required to eliminate the knock. The engine will still run fine, but at reduced power and fuel economy. By using higher octane fuel, the onset of detonation is delayed, no detonation is detected by the sensors, so power and fuel economy are not reduced. Higher octane does not make more power in and of itself, but it may prevent your engine from making less power adjusting for low octane fuel.
@Greg3468Ай бұрын
My car recommends/requires 91 or higher as well. I’ve always put nothing less than 91 octane in it. It definitely does seem to run slightly better when I run 93 octane. Now I know why and there always seems to be misconceptions out there when this conversation comes up in the forums and on social media and you always have those that’ll say things like “ it doesn’t matter “ and “ you’re just wasting your money “. Now I’ll have proven info to spread when I see another post regarding which octane people run and why.

Did ethanol in the blend come into play? I’ve heard that it reduces power/mileage, and frequently 91+ fuel is ethanol-free (at least here in Wisconsin). I have a ’24 Tundra Limited (non-hybrid) and will watching for your dyno testing in the coming weeks.
@truthnow902Ай бұрын
Definitely the best way to unlock you Tacoma's power, Put a Honda motor inside then you will see real power!!!
@jeromeridge5566Ай бұрын
By more resistant to detonation, etc., I hope you understand that this is because regular fuel burns faster than premium fuel. The energy content should be about the same.
@stungames7656Ай бұрын
Will this fit the 1.5T?
@gpajeАй бұрын
Poor quality or lower octane? Not necessarily the same thing. The ECU is producing more power with higher octane, but the engineers spec this engine at 87. Are you saying using the recommended fuel will hurt the engine's longevity or just that it won't produce as much power with 91?
