@@WingsandBlades257also many countries in the Balkans had systems of these and there's a Pintsch-Bamag in Egypt on the rooftop of the Mogamma building in Cairo. Switzerland had a small system of 9 (iirc) HLS-381 part of a nuclear plant. Those got replaced by SES-1000 sirens. There was also a planned import of Hörmann F71 in switzerland through TIG Bicord AG which ultimately failed after swiss civil defense found the F71 not matching their expectations but at least they tested a model in Bern, at the Monbijoustrasse.

@@mclarensuniversethatisverystic But these higher-pitched are old units and I don't know are any of them working anymore in the city of Lappeenranta, the last working ones what I know were located at Sammonlahti and Huhtiniemi. Around 4 years ago here was more of them, but also many of them were abandoned already around 2018-2019. All of them are either completely removed or still in place but not in use.

It is both really. It uses a chopper disk with 4 holes in it which looks very similar to a Chrysler’s chopper and a 4 hole stator to direct the sound into 4 large horns that are inside the siren’s head, and the chopper gets supercharged with air from compressed air tanks which makes the siren loud as hell similar to a Thunderbolt but just without a roots blower
