Super informative and interesting video Sir. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a 2005 F150 5.4 3v with 275k miles. I’m looking at my data stream on my acton scanner. Specifically fuel trim. No engine codes. The issue is multiple misfires during acceleration any gear. Maybe vacuum leak? Data stream at 2800 rpm ST FTRM1 4.7 LT FTRM 1 11.7 ST FTRM 2 10.9 LT FTRM 2 3.1 CMD EQ RAT .999 MAF (LB/M) 2.67

Hello Thanks for all your work we really enjoy it. I have something that is driving me crazy. I have a tractor with a OBD interface connector and the ECU is a Mahindra EDC. 17C55. I am looking for a scan tool that will read it.I would like to do more than just view codes and clear them. I would be happy if I could see most of the values measured.Could you recommend what would work the ECM is on a 4 cyl diesel engine your help would be very much appreciated.

Great videos for us weekend warriors that know how to work on cars without a scanner, but times are changing. My friends and i arent throwing away our classics just yet but they arent their daily drivers and they need to be worked on too. Its too hard to trust or pay someone to work on your car when you can do everything on a frame off restoration except the machine work. Resisted the computer thing fir a long time, but finding it pretty interesting. More complicated but easier to diagnose problems. Thanks for your help

Hello, why pumping brake would change value? ....
@mytvc1542Ай бұрын
All cars these days have "power brakes" aka Vacuum-assisted. When you press the brake pedal, this activates the vacuum-assist unit to let engine vacuum pull the brake-assist unit's diaphragm to help actuate the brake calipers/drums. So, as the engine sucks in that air via the vacuum booster, it transiently gives a bolus of air to the engine for which the ECU is prepared to compensate. Without vacuum assist, it's very hard to press the brake pedal enough to create enough pressure on the brake pads/shoes. You will know what this is like if you drive a car from the mid-60's or earlier, or a modern one with a bad booster cannister. Also, this explains the following: if your car is parked and the engine is off (like first thing in the morning....) and you press the brake pedal, you will hear a brief hissing sound. That's the brakes tapping in to the leftover vacuum in the canister... You get one or two presses of the brake pedal before the vacuum is "used up". And in an emergency stop with no engine running, use this fact to press your brake pedal ONCE and hard, because you won't get a second chance.

I bought one of these to test The variable timing solenoids on my truck but the scan tool does not have the software and the software will cost as much as taking my truck to a shop and have a full diagnostic ran on it.

"First off, thanks for putting together this video and highlighting some of the shortcomings of these OBD2 scanners. While these scanners are marketed to DIY consumers, their limitations leave users with a lot of guesswork. They list impressive-sounding capabilities on the box, but when it comes to troubleshooting and analyzing data, they often fall short. Basic functionality might be there, but trying to print out a readable report or perform in-depth data analysis can be tedious and restrictive. As they say, ‘you get what you pay for,’ but at $400, I expected more. With 30 years in computers, I find the data output confounding and surprisingly basic given today’s complex vehicles. Without proper training, DIY users can easily misinterpret the data, leading to frustration.”

How is it that at time stamp 10:44 the voltage of O2S11 increases when you add a lean condition by pumping the brakes. But at time stamp 11:57 when you add another lean condition the voltage drops…?

Very informative, thanks. Question on warm-ups? No one can tell me low and high temperature on 2012 gmc terrain. One guy states under 120 then rev to over 166, (did it on a Prius), and that will count as warm-up start. Didn’t work for me. Would you happen to know doing what would count as a warm-up start. Again thank you for your help these videos are great. I copied the transcript.👍🏼.
