Wow Cecil, you are fortunately located in Florida where they use an external transformer to convert 120v to 12v, because in California we send the full 120v to the bulb using a Ground Fault Interruptor (GFIC) to “hopefully” cut the power in time when a short occurs. LED replacement is not recommended on the Pentair Pool Light specifically warning that not using an incandescent flood bulb creates a risk of injury or death. WELCOME TO DIY HELL, when in doubt call a professional who is trained “hopefully” in keeping kids and adults healthy and happy; or not, as the case may be. Penny wise pound foolish especially when lives are at stake.

Hello. Could you put a link in the chat or model number of pool light you used? I like the fact that you can cycle through the color options from the original on/off switch. Thank you.

I can’t find any video that shows my type of light. It seems like the seal needs to hold the lens to the silver body. This video speeds through the re-assembly. Are there any videos that actually show the reassembly?

Thumbs up. Would have liked to see the rubber gasket and ring clamp secured in real time. Informative video.

I have the older type of enclosure... a lot of separate clamps all around to loosen and then re-tighten. I'm also replacing with an an LED bulb, just white. But I know that if any water gets in there, that LED is going to be destroyed. So in addition to a new gasket, would you recommend adding any kind of "O-ring sealer" all around it as an extra precaution?

I want to do it but nervous i might not put seal back on right. If I put in new LED and water gets in light can I people get electrocuted in water?
@ApartmentMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Yes, so be very careful & if your not comfortable pay a professional to replace it. Also you should replace the seal anytime you remove the cover to change the bulb. Using a old seal is just asking for water to get inside the light. Hope that helps even though it's been several months since your question. 👍

Ok, not the greatest video, but it answered my question... why is my pool company charging $780 for a single color light? And if you’re mechanically inclined, putting on a gasket isn’t rocket science and he didn’t need to show reassembly in slow motion.

$285 and if you don’t find it their not charged? I would hope their charges for something. Maybe you haven’t yet encountered a customer 1,000% sure theirs a leak. Tells you it’s doing this that an that water is going down their adding water ect. And your searching around like crazy loosing your mind, wasting a lot of time u could be making money elsewhere. All because they were 1,000% sure it’s leaking and in reality all it is, is evaporation. And their calling it a leak like the pool won’t have any rate of evaporation. Surely you don’t spend an hour or two, use of equipment, mileage an time and walk away after not finding a leak because the leak was from evaporation? Even if their is a leak and u just weren’t able to pinpoint it your still walking away with an empty pocket? I mean I to have a battery of test that I would personally do from the dye testing, to pressure testing, to running the computer an the bulb on the pool to make sure lowering of the water is on par for the rate of evaporation, and audio testing listing to all the lights, returns, drains with the equipment an all. To atleast narrow it down to being damn sure their isn’t a leak. And video documenting the process an taking notes. But still giving some sort of bill. Theirs no way you walk away empty handed. If everything is done an nothing is seen it’s gotta be pretty much an non existent leak. Or so beyond tiny the evaporation detection tool can’t pick it up when it goes down to 10’s of a thousands of an inch reading. Otherwise if everything else is done an tried it’s more than likely going to be found.

To reiterate what @HobieCoastie said, "Watched the whole damn video to see the reassembly and boom. Time lapse." I guess if they showed how to reassemble the light they can't get 195 bucks. I did notice he did not install the light into the pool housing properly, the bottom of the light was not in the retainer and so it was only held in by the screw at the top.
