Omnisexual and pansexual aren't the same

As a bisexual, I'd like to shed light on some common misconceptions. We do actually like more than just two genders. Liking males and females is not actually what we meant by "bi", and it never has been. The bi in bisexual is referring to the attraction to genders like and unlike our own, which can include nonbinary, genderfluid, agender ect. When the bisexual flag was created, along with it's definition, the pink was meant to represent attraction to women, blue for men, and the purple was to represent attraction to other genders outside of the binary. If you search for the bisexual manifesto, it's all there. From it's creation, the term bisexual, was always meant to be inclusive. I completely understand the confusion and the language is weird, but that is what the term means, and how most of us identify with it. It also causes people to wonder what the differences between bisexual, pansexual, and omnisexual are, which is again understandable. Some describe it as difference in preference and gender recognition. Like bisexuals can have a preference based on gender, pansexuals have no preference, or have a hard time seeing gender in terms of attraction, and omisexual is like pan, in the way that they are gender blind, but they can have a preference based on other things like experience. it's hard to describe, but as a bisexual, the attraction I feel towards women is much different than how I feel when I like a man, and totally different for a nonbinary person. Of course, even those definitions are debatable, so truly it just comes down to how comfortable you are using each label. Just remember that these labels aren't meant to feel like prisons, more like tools to better help express yourself!

Theres pretty much an lgbtq term for anything. some common some less common. its easy to do research to see if how you feel about anything romantically/sexually or about your identity is a lgbtq thing. recently found out that genderfaun is like genderfluid but not with any feminine genders, i found this out from multiple days questioning if i really am transmasc because i felt like something else. you just gotta look stuff up sometimes lol

Quick feedback, Pan != Omni Pansexual people are "gender-blind," meaning that they don't have a preference towards which side they lean. Omnisexual people DO have this lean, and the label reflects that. Having a lean towards one side of the spectrum does not mean that they can't feel attraction towards all genders.

Hey, this is a great video! Only a few nitpicks with some things. 1: Bisexuality is more than just liking male and female, it’s liking more than just 1 gender. It’s a fluid thing, like everything here. 2: I think Omnisexual and Pansexual are considered 2 different things. 3: Asexual/Aromantic is little to no attraction. No just no attraction. Again, pretty fluid. 4: Non-binary people use mostly they/them pronouns. While some do use xi/xir/xim and/or zi/zir/zim, it’s not that common. 5: Only adding onto gender-fluid here, but these can change from day to day, or hour to hour, or longer than a day to change. 6: Transexual is not really used anymore and can be offensive now. But I do say, it’s interesting on how you put it here. 7: Adding to the “unsure how to act or talk around people with different sexualities,” don’t treat them any differently than you would a normal person. This is a 5-6 year old video, I know, but this is here for people who stumbled on this video in 2023 like I did. Like they said, reach out to support groups like Trevor, or something like that for extra help on this stuff!

This video seemed to be way too much about sexual orientation and listing gender identity terminology without really explaining how gender is a social construct that exists independently of biological sex. This video is unhelpful, it seems like it's for people who already know most of this, hardly offers anything for people who are trying to learn the nuance.

Gender = sex, and it's binary. If your development involved both an active SRY gene and active androgen receptors, you're male, and your body will develop toward the purpose of producing small gametes (sperm) even if some defect prevents the actual production. Likewise, if your development *didn't* involve both an active SRY gene and active androgen receptors, you're female, and your body will develop toward the purpose of producing large gametes (ova) even if some defect prevents the actual production of that. All of this is true even of so-called "intersex" people; a few abnormalities does not change/determine your entire gender. Yes, gender = sex, and we've known this for a long time now. It's the very reason the roles we're expected to play based solely on our biological sex are called "gender roles" to begin with. As for "identifying" as something different, this leads to a whole other realm of incoherence. One in which people can't even give objective definitions for terms like "man" or "woman" at all.

Honestly I recently discovered I was gender apathetic, which effectively means that I don’t identify or care much about my gender. That is because I don’t really feel any gender in myself. Kind of like if I was saying this in response to the question of what gender I am: I am me, not a gender.
