These specimens were washed out of the ancient marine sediments- at Lyme Regis, which is situated on the Jurassic Coast .

"In some fossil crinoids the top of the calyx was a flexible membrane, but in others it is preserved as a rigid dome, and may have an elongated anal tube for the disposal of waste products. The stem typically consisted of disc-like plates (columnals) stacked on top of each other." ............ okay, wait, it's an actual fossil and not a rusty screw... i thought this was a parody video 😂
@LymeRegisFossils2 күн бұрын
That’s great information ℹ️ you’ve added. ✔️🙏The Crinoid was an animal related to the starfish, we are more closely related to them, than we are jellyfish 🪼. On my fossil walks the kids find the star 🌟 shaped ossicles of the Crinoid, they then think 🤔 they’ve found a starfish!

I was lucky 🍀 at that juncture, I had a lot of guided fossil walks that I was doing- at low tide. So I was out fossil hunting a lot of days in a row. That helped me to work out the better spots to look in, and it had been stormy ⛈️ previously too.
