Not sure if you mean issues with odor for me ( indoors) or odor for turning off the fish. For me... when I'm indoors, I am right by my basement window so the odors just escapes, definitely recommend an open window even in winter. Odor for fish being turned off, never for saltwater, for freshwater I do worry about scent, the smallest thing can turn off a large mouth bass.

I referenced this video for my install. The reel was the Penn Fierce 8000 for reference. I was all in for the drill only option. The center punch was the fix for the install. Easing the drills into the center area corrected any off center punch errors. Slowly fitting the new post into the old hole ensures a tight fit critical with the material left. The screw and threadlocker secures the assembly.

Assuming we are talking about the TBR7 or Hawk , if you just unbolt the bottom and drain the fork oil, you may have an impossible time getting those bolts back in because the damping rod will spin freely inside the fork housing in which case you will need to stick a broomstick down there and apply force to stop it from spinning ( trust me its a headache ). Great video but this does NOT work. The Gomex kit does not have the right parts for Penn reels (Spinfisher or Slammer series). I tried to do one...I noticed you skipped over the actual putting the shaft into the handle ...because you cannot get a tight fit (not tight enough to last through even one fish fight)and end up over widening the whole to get the shaft to fit.. and the screw that goes onto the back side of the shaft on the handle - the screw head is smaller than the hole that was made to put the shaft in so it won't even secure anything--it just tightens to the end of the shaft and doesn't catch any of the handle. It looked like that was the case in the video too... Its a bad design
@antoinefernandez91082 жыл бұрын
Brian Goodhead good observation on your part. I actually watched this video even before I received my handle. I just finished installing it, I realized as I was drilling out the original handle that if I went all the way through with the bit I was not going to be able to secure the shaft to handle because of the smaller screw head so I was careful not to punch all the way through. I used one of the small washers with screws and was able to secured shaft to handle.
@totalnoobfishing1753 Жыл бұрын
Apologies for the delayed response, I must respectfully disagree, my Gomexus kit came with a wide face screw that is considerably larger than the circumference of the drilled hole. I did not record that part because it was pretty mundane to watch me stick the shaft in..there was no deception in this video. You either drilled the hole too big, or used the wrong screw or did not get the appropriate screw in your hardware which could easily happen if there is no quality control with Gomexus. If the screw you have was in fact a smaller diameter, you can put your DIY troubleshooting hat on and simply use a washer with a greater circumference and then the screw.

Sir Mixalot !!!... thank you so much for taking a moment to watch the video and comment. I completely agree the paper eyes are infinitely cheaper and more style options right off the internet, plus they are less likely to pop off like a craft eye. cool vid. noob except 38mm knob it says 5mm drill bit... whatever I wanted to tell you a little history lesson about the original penn clash reels. You either already know this or you,ll prob. say I,m full of crap. What if I told you that every model from the 2000 to whatever the biggest one was were all the same exact reel. The only thing different was the size of the spools. I thought I was missing something but what. My next move was calling Penn and explaining to them my discovery and was I right. there was a long silence but inside of my head it was like hearing awww shit, I then said is it true that all the clash reels are the same inside with different size spools. He says yeah that's right twice I tell him thanks and bye. I have never told anyone that story and always wondered if anybody else caught that. The only thing I never checked was how much more was the biggest reel vs how much did a large spool cost.Who knows maybe they were supposed to be different but around the time the clash came out Penn had their reels made in China. True Story my brother
@totalnoobfishing17533 жыл бұрын
Great story Thomas and thank you so much for watching and commenting. I do not have Penn Clash, however I can confirm that my Fierce 2 4500, Spinfisher VI 4500 and Penn Slammer 3 4500 are absolutely identical inside and I can swap the gears, handles etc. so you are correct. The difference between the 3 reels is the materials that the gears are made of, cast zinc, vs CNC gears vs brass CNC gears, the quality gets better as you spend more money, like handles and materials, but it is all the same. Regarding the 5mm drill bit, my goal was to use a slightly smaller bit and "press" the shaft into where I bored out the handle. There are many videos and many ways to approach the installation, this was just my version. Catch 'em up Thomas and stay safe!

Hey Danny, thank you so much for watching and the kind words. The process is absolutely the same for PENN 700 702 704 704z 705 705z 706 706z 747 757 Spinning Reels. Your desired knob size may be a bit larger, so perhaps the 41mm Gomexus knob. You can measure the diameter of your existing stock knob and make your decision from there. Good luck!

Yo Max... the striper master ! I was very pleased with the handle, its easily as good as the stock handle on the Penn Slammer 3.
