Why the cynical approach to this. This video can help people. Both the carers themselves and the people, like myself, who benefit everyday from the NHS. I would be proud to be a patient in this. Sometimes we need to spend money to get the good messages across. I will share this with people all over the world.

PLEASE MAY I MAKE YOU AWARE OF MY GOVERNMENT PETITION TO BAN AUTOMATIC NUMBER-PLATE RECOGNITION SYSTEMS IN NHS HOSPITAL CAR PARKS & ASK YOU TO CONSIDER SIGNING IT, THEN PASS IT ON TO YOUR COLLEAGUES AND FRIENDS TO ENSURE THAT NHS HOSPITAL PATIENTS & VISITORS DO NOT SUFFER THIS NUISANCE - epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/61854 [Daily Telegraph, 12.06.14, p2, Transport Minister, Robert Goodwill, ‘Speaks out against parking CCTV’ & 14.06.14, Motoring page M6, petition mentioned] Many NHS Hospital car parks have, or are about to, adopt this car parking system. The contractor has a wonderful sales pitch; they supply the equipment at no charge, the hospital gets the cash from the ticket machines, and they gets the ‘fines’, so it is in their interest to generate ‘fines’. They do this by having inadequate notices, faulty key-pads, that only accept part of the car registration number, and covering the machines for short periods, with the cameras left running, so if you know how much to pay, the only way to do it is by credit card, which mostly leads to an answering machine - would leave your card details on a cowboy’s answering machine? So while the machines are out of use the hospitals gets nothing! The Burton NHS Foundation Trust recently installed this system, and chief executive, Helen Ashley, agreed that it was not ‘fit for purpose’ and had been overwhelmed by complaints, but was locked into this contract for 3 years at two of the hospitals, and a year at the Tamworth Hospital, but reviews were taking place. The Northumbria NHS Trust had this system, but got rid of it because of the complains and the cost of dealing with them. Although not a hospital, the Lake District National Park authority also used these cowboys, and exited them with a good kick up the rump! Confidentiality and privacy should always be paramount on hospital premises, this is clearly stated in the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practise, especially if a person is there for a sensitive reason, and do not want their privacy invaded by these camera systems - the ‘get a ticket at the barrier’, and pay when leaving is a fairer system, then only payment for the exact amount of time is paid. Many of these camera systems expect a person to remember the time of arrival, and leave, when they are often in a stressed situation, resulting in over-payment, or heavy ‘fines’.” Pease help to put an end to these cowboys by signing this petition. Thank you, and kind regards from Patsie Jarman

This trust should not be spending £48-£50,000 pounds when it's £7 million in debt. I will accept that people need training, but 48 grand could have bought a good many training hours for the nurses and doctors. This film is simply a public relations exercise; it helps no one it's just a wicked waste of money which could have been better spent on patient care in the wards. This is not an attack on nursing staff, my own sister was an accident an emergency nurse for 25 years, and the job was killing her because of the shortage of staff. Her hospital did not have enough money in the pot to pay for more nursing hours. Now i've seen this film i certainly know why. What a wicked waste.

You lot critiquing this video and the price should pray that you do not fall under the surgeons knife anytime soon. In Slough anyway..... How much do you think an advert costs? To the Andy Mat with 16years experience... no you can't produce a high production video for 5k lmaooo. Stick to gypsy weddings, nativity plays because your understanding does not transcend to this point dude. This film is being used for recruitment purposes, public awareness etc and does actually do the job assigned to it!! To put into perspective the superbowl spent $4 million dollars on an advert. John Lewis in the UK spent £7 Million on an advert of a similar length that was shown over xmas. This was 48 thousand... On a national scale how much do you think the NHS spends on bic biros and loo roll?? Shock horror!!!! Anyway my kids were born here with all limbs intact... job done Wexham

What a pathetic load of bullshit this is. How can these people justify the £50,000 pound spend on this rubbish, when real people need that money spent on their care. This trust is already £7 Million Pounds in debt. No wonder we have no confidence in people when money is wasted like this. They must be taking lessons from Havering Council who spent £40,000 just on their own tea and coffee. Lets sack these idiots, because we certainly cannot afford you.

Thanks for reminding us all that the NHS is about people, not numbers. Someone needs to force feed this to the politicians and the media that keep putting it down.
