I must try treble set Savarez 570CR on cedar solid top
@PaulChaplo7 күн бұрын
Hi Andreas, it’s me again listening to the string comparisons. This far, I find the venerable EJ45 to sound just right especially with an alternative G string. However tonight, I finally hear another string set that sounds fine to my ear. By the way Bravo! 👏 on your Capricho Arabe! Funny story but with some strings that you test it’s as tho I cannot fully hear the music! With EJ45 I always share the joy and the magic your playing. Now I add these Cantiga Cristal to my favorites list and perhaps I try with an Alliance G! The medium set CR510 have conservative tensions that are kind to our guitar.

@@PaulChaplo thank you for taking the time to comment and for your kind words. These older comparisons are a bit rough I must say, as my time was very limited for recording. The main purpose of all the comparisons on my channel is not to make me sound good but hear the raw sound of the strings. That is why I never use any reverb and have the microphone fairly close. I agree that savarez has very nice strings and the treble are brighter than the pro arte. But I have to mention that the basses, especially the 4th string, do not last as long as the D'Addario.
@PaulChaplo2 күн бұрын
@@andreaskikinas Agreed that the Savarez bass strings especially the D 4th are not durable and vex me. Please let me clarify as I was commenting only on the strings (not the recording or playing) and how I perceive the music with your excellent performances in that sometimes, my ear often savors the music better with venerable EJ-45. Kindly know that i only speak about the strings and how some almost make the music more apprehend-able to the listener. Both are very good strings. I have used both but I have a slight preference for the La Bellas on my guitar. The D'Addarios sound more pleasing at first because of their warmth but with careful listening, the La Bellas are a little better at conveying nuances of tone. Treble tones on the La Bellas are also airier and more crystal clear. On the other hand, the DAddarios are balanced more toward the bass and may sound fuller on some guitars. I also find the La Bellas' playability to be slightly better for normal/medium tension. One practical consideration is that the D'Addarios are much easier to find and may be slightly lower in price.

@@jonathansanchezmedina No problem. I have not played the live set. But for example the normal tension of maestrale is very hard compared to the normal tension diamante. The diamante is very soft on the finger tips and very pleasant in my opinion. At some point they might feel a bit too soft and quiet compared to other strings. Adam del Monte said that the Diamante normal tension feel a bit harder than the EJ45. Even though I do not feel they are harder in general I understand what he was talking about. @@andreaskikinas Thank you for your most welcomed reply! I am trying to be kind to my guitar in regards to tensions, and EJ45 has nice combination of quite low tensions and sweet sound. I will also try Savarez as they make a nylon set but with a carbon G 3rd string and it is an Alliance, which I know that I like. Coming from high-tension Savarez Alliance-Cantiga is an adjustment. Seems that playing harmonics on guitar (with admittedly old yet unworn set of EJ45; maybe fresh set will be better?) were better for me on the high-tension carbon set 510AJ, but I want to avoid such high tensions so my neck will be good for years (does it even matter?). For example, Savarez 510AJ high-E string has 18.5 lbs. of tension! What have you found in different strings and getting best natural and artificial harmonics?
@andreaskikinasАй бұрын
@@PaulChaplo Well, I am not sure if the lower tension set guaranties the well being of the neck but certainly it helps. Lower tension is also better for the top and bridge too, and last but not least it is good for our hands. There are also mixed sets from Knobloch (with carbon g) that come in medium tension, and have easier harmonics than the EJ45. Now that I think of it, most sets on the market have easier and louder harmonics that the EJ45, but they are not as warm sounding.
