i heard d6 is thinner fluid, how will that help the transmisison, shouldn't you use same viscosity?
@DavidSunshine14 күн бұрын
Great question! Yes, Dexron VI is less viscous than Dexron III, but that's actually beneficial for modern transmissions. The lower viscosity improves fuel efficiency, cold-weather performance, and transmission durability. Dexron VI is the recommended fluid for most GM transmissions and is backward compatible with most Dexron III applications. In my case, it worked well, so I think GM was right when saying it was backwards compatible. Cheers! David.

@@DavidSunshine ok good to know, thanks for the response! i have a ford too and I bought an extra mercon LV at a discount, do you think GM d6 vehiciles (in this case d3) also like mercon lv?
@DavidSunshine11 күн бұрын
@acrobart2339 Anytime! Sounds like Dexron 6 has better low temp performance and viscosity stability than Mercon LV. So it would work in a pinch (like a top up) but I wouldn't recommend using it long term for a GM vehicle. I think going with Dexron 6 would be best long term. Cheers, David.@@acrobart2339

@@DavidSunshine Thank you for your help, I'm kicking myself for having changed the fluid, but I was going by your guide even if it's "lifetime" transmission fluid. I have a malibu max lt v6 if that matters and I just put Valvoline maxlife in it, because the regular Valvoline blue d6 was out of stock. I also put a new filter, but couldnt' get the old filter gasket off so I left it in there. and took off the new gasket of the new filter I felt immediate clunking and jerking in the vehicle, like car shaking. It has about 178K, unknown if it had ever been serviced. magnet was pretty clean. fluid was dark red but not burnt, not too many particles in there. Anyways, I added lubguard instant shudder fix, the toothpaste size tube (2oz) and it fixed most of the clunking. You can shift it into D or R now without a huge jerking, but there is still some hesitation and it seems worse than before I changed it. I'm wondering if it is because the Valvoline maxlife is a thinner fluid (being d6 compatible) Also what would explain the instant shudder fluid working to alleviate some of the symptoms? Would that fluid make the viscosity thinner or thicker?

Bro, I stumble upon your video and it's very informative. Anyway, I have an E39 328i 2000 (M52TU / M54). I live in tropical country and the temps varies from 35c-40c. The temps of my e39 is around 99c if driving slow around 30-60 km/h, but rises to 100,101 on light traffic, and 102 in heavy traffic. But whenever I rev the engine to 2500-3000 rpm, the temps went down to 99c again. If I rev it to 4000 rpm, the temps went down to 93, sometimes 90. It's also same whenever I kick down on a highway, the temps went down from 101 to 90c. But there's two moment when I after drive around 45 minutes in a quite heavy traffic, and the temps from 101-102, suddenly drops to 82c and it stays for around 5 minutes. It also went to 84c around a couple of minutes then went back up to 99-100c. The first was during traffic. The second, was after I made a quick stop. Does this behavior showing that I have a bad thermostat? It was Wahler, and I purchase it a month ago. But many people said in the forum that new thermostat sometimes not working properly. (I also already change the radiator pipes, hoses, radiator, and waterpump).
@DavidSunshineАй бұрын
@@wailanmain Hey. That sounds pretty normal. The drop to 85 could be the computer thinking you are gonna need some high performance or hill climbing so it opens the thermostats electronically. If the thermostat was not working well, you'd get overheating or take a long time to heat up the engine from a cold start. If it heats up quickly then stays below 102, then the thermostat was closed then opened properly as designed. I wouldn't worry about the cooler temperatures for a few minutes, that is probably just the car getting you ready for a hill climb or heavy engine loading, that's what the electronic heater element was designed for. Cheers! David.

@@DavidSunshine I see, thanks for the response David! Actually I’m a bit worried about my average temperature of my car that runs 101-102 during traffic (sometimes 103, I think) when the traffic is really loong! But average on 99-100c when on a slow cruise. I bleed my cars a couple of times either its warm or cold bleed. Now, every morning I check there was no reduction in coolant as the sticks keep in kalt position. But, I’m just wondering why my car wasn’t operate like you or most of my friends. (Stays below 100c on idle and traffic). I’m using 50-50 bmw coolant + distilled water by the way.
@DavidSunshineАй бұрын
@@wailanmain I see. Someone with an e90 said it varies at 105-112. I think 102 would be fine, since you want the engine to run hot to drive off moisture, and it's a good hot temp for the lube and combustion. Check with others with E39, it might be the norm. Cheers, David.
@wailanmainАй бұрын
@@DavidSunshine okay David. Thanks for the input. Actually my e39 (528i 2000) is using m52tu engine that quite similar with e46s 325 with m52tu and m54 engines. The thermostat is also the same with what you’re using in the video. The specs on thermostat said that it’s open in 97c (I don’t know which procedure between from dme or mechanicaly). But it’s written on the tstat. The difference between e39 m52tu and e46 with m52 or m54 engine is the bleeder screw. E39 m52tu have 2 bleeder holes. One beside the tstat, the other is around the expansion tank.
@DavidSunshineАй бұрын
@@wailanmainHi. Also, if we're both using the same thermostat, the outside temp probably has a lot to do with it, I'm in Canada and it was probably 15-20c outside when I made this video, so much cooler. If it's 30-40c, I'm sure you'll see higher temps. Looks like for the e39, an m54 engine, people would expect 105-115c in heavy traffic in hotter climates. If it goes above 120c the car actually reduces power to limit overheating. It also sounds like there's two thermostats on the M54, one for engine block and one for cylinder heads, I didn't know about that, not sure if that affects things. Maybe one is stuck? Cheers! David.

@@jabeerahmed77775 Hi, It sounds like a lot of mechanics have worked on it, and something they did caused the engine malfunction, meaning it is most likely a sensor or wiring issue. Luckily, the codes can tell you exactly why it is failing. I would recommend pulling all the codes with a good scanner meant for BMWs, like Carly, you can get the Bluetooth adapter and app for Android, it can give you all the codes to tell you what is wrong with your BMW, the computer knows what's wrong. Then you can start fixing those code issues and get it working again. Clearing the codes without fixing the electrical issue sounds like a quick fix, and it runs full power so everything can work properly together, but once you fix the actual issue, it'll work perfectly and start every time. If the code is for the camshaft position sensor, you can try cleaning the connector, or even replacing with new sensors, but I wouldn't fix anything without getting the codes that tell you what it is having issues with. Good luck! Cheers, David.

An even smaller EDC light, with USB C charging is the Sofirn SC13, uses a smaller 18350 battery so it's compact but can still push 1300 lumens, enough to blind at night. For good blinding power you want high candela, the Sofirn IF19 will give you this in a compact package, but it's a little awkward shaped to carry, but if you can carry that, it's a great compact thrower that's great for blinding people at night. @schutendohkji5487 ай бұрын
My 1983 Rem 870 Wingmaster had this bump opposite the extractor notch too. The gun was almost pristine though used when i bought it. I just used my 1/2 round jeweler's file instead of Mr. Dremel as i have more control over the little narrow stick. I haven't shot nuf, mayb < 100 rounds n i don't remember if i had an extraction problem but got rid of the bump anyway, just in case, trusting ur judgement. I also removed any burrs at the flange to nut(not) scratch the bolt surface. The older M870s like mine have this shell jam betwn the top of the carrier n bottom of the bolt. It happens too often. And i hated to remove the trigger housing as always, the front house holding pin gets out of alignment w the shell latch and it's a pain to use flat scrwdrvr to bring the holes together. But, the best way to cure the jam is to insert 1/16"T x 3/4"W x 6"L Machinist ruler betwn the carrier n the bottom edge of the gun's rcvr and push the shell's butt toward the magazine tube. When the shell's butt gets almost inside the tube, u'll hve nuf room to push down the carrier w ur finger and push the shell further into the tube till it clicks in. No more messing around w taking out the trigger housing!! To prevent this shell trap, it'll b best to insert a shell one at a time directly into the chamber. Don't drop it onto the top of the carrier when ur using the ejection port to do so. This wld b an acceptable single shot mode during the trap shoots unless ur shooting two clay birds at the same time. And, if u decided to put more rounds into the tube mag, operate the pump violently, not half A@@'d slow motion. Dat should lessen the chance of a shell get trapped as explained above. Hope this would help for the old Rem 870. Supposedly, the current new M870 by RemArms cured this shell jam problem by making a U-cut on the carrier along w the bolt n other 2 more parts mod. In this way, all u need 2 do when the shell jams is to just violently pump the forearm up n down. No, don't bang the buttstock violently on the floor unless u want to XX@@%%Q the gun. Unless u by their Wingmaster version vs. Express, Fldmstr, etc., u'll need to sand n polish the chamber else the fired expanded plastic shell would get stuck into the rough grooved chamber. Hey, it only take a few minutes for the new RemArm factory to do this last step for us the buyers.

Hey if there's no vibration in the left line that means the pump isn't working?
@DavidSunshine7 ай бұрын
Hi, That's the feed line to the pump(it leads down to the pump's intake, so it's sucking on the left side), so you should feel some vibrations from that fluid getting pulled on by the impellers. If you don't, but the pump is spinning, it might be that there is air in the system and needs to be bled or filled up. I didn't do anything special though, I just filled the left coolant tank(for intercooler system, not the right one which is the main radiator). Do you have leaks on the coolant line connections? There's a bunch of them all above the turbos. If those leak then your coolant goes low over time which can lead to low levels and air in the system, it won't throw any troubles and your turbos will just cook over the and seize up. It's a really bad design with no sensors to warn you, which is why it's so important to check the proper operation yourself, which you're doing now so that's great! My pump failed and it didn't even say a thing. Luckily I caught it cuz I have the energy meter, which I keep an eye on to make sure the pump pulls about 12w. If it doesn't, that means it isn't circulation coolant properly throughout the turbos. If you install a Bluetooth energy meter you can check on it from your phone too, without going under the hood. Sometimes the pump just fails, I had one fail after 1 day, brand new from BMW! Good luck! Cheers, David.
