But by the looks of the DM70, it might be a much better light than the MS03, I like the indicator light on the switch, the red light, and the magnetic tail! 4500lms is pretty good out of a single 21700 light too, looks promising, as long as that switch is water resistant. My flashlight btw same model bought 2 weeks ago came with no thread lock on the bottom at all. Only silicone grease. Also I use secondary 21700 battery with success. It's a Molicel/P45B/4500MAH/35A, as a riser/bumper for the height I just use a perfectly sized neodymium magnet on the negative end albeit might try making a pure copper or pure silver cut for the bumper/riser (easier for me as a jeweller).

Nice man!! The LD10 is a great EDC, slicker than the On the Road M3, but I like the tail magnet, wish the LD10 had that. The LD70 looks great too! @@DavidSunshine Awesome, the LD10 is my first flashlight, and yes a magnet and a clip would be really nice. But overall it’s amazing and the amount of throw makes up for it. Just used it to adjust a throttle cable on a Honda Civic in the dark last night at 150 Lumens. The bonus diffuser turns it into an extremely handy work-light/lantern. They could easily update the LD10 and they’d have the best EDC on the market.

@@chrisp.5272 Yup, it's a winner of a flashlight even in its current form, pretty great bang for the buck. It's got enough power and runtime to be a useful EDC. I think a 16340 battery is the smallest I would go, if you have to do any emergency repairs, it'll be enough to provide plenty of light at 150 lumens. If you ever have to do a serpentine belt replacement on the side of the street, and you're fighting against the sunset, these flashlights will pay for themselves. For working on the car, you can use a $12 convoy S2+ with a tail magnet add on, and a magnet add to the side clip, it makes it awesome for working under the hood, around the engine, and underneath. Plenty of light and runtime, if you need more runtime, just pop in a fresh 18650. That's my go to, cuz I don't want to destroy the finish on my more expensive lights. With that said, I will use them if I have to, like my X7R which is missing most of it's anodization, looks like been through the trenches, but it still works great like day one. It's nice to keep the tools undamaged, even though that's what they were made for, strangely enough. Cheers! David.

I didn’t have any issues with my MS03, love it, however my new UT90 stopped working after a walk in the rain. Guess we’ll see if Imalent honors the warranty... Love the UT90, but be careful, it’s not really IPX-8 rated, the switch seems to be the weakness. Water ingress into the switch...

Glad the MS03 is working well for you! If they used the same button configuration it wouldn't surprise me that the switch failed. Hope they fix it up for you tho! There customer service seems pretty good, they really tried to help me with my issues, but in the end shipping from Canada to China would have cost too much for me, so I didn't bother. I like to mod stuff anyways so I'm gonna put some 2700K XHP70.2 on there. Hope you could send it for free to a local repair center! Cheers, David.

I think we might be able to pull the back out using some tools though. Like the front ring, they like to press things in. In my daughter's test, the flashlight withstood only about half the drop distance the flashlight advertised and the glass shattered. I guess that's due to having to use glass instead of something shatterproof.

Ya, the impact rating is something that this flashlight fails at. The testing standard requires that it be dropped first then water tested, since the ring opens up on the drop, it'll fail the water test right away(not allowed any water ingress, which will certainly happen with that ring and glass loose). The glass can easily break since that ring comes off too. I find both ratings to be misleading, if it failed my tests, it really shouldn't pass those tests, since they need a sample set to pass the lab tests, I think it's like 5 units. Cheers! David.

David! 15K lumens for an EDC haha that's sick and 69°C that's why we need wireless drivers and an APP, I have been searching for components it seems possible in 17mm, but my lack of electronics components knowledge, if i made a mistake with the pcb driver would have to order new ones, and develop an APP takes time. you know the 5A driver 4 modes from convoy? i'm planning to change the 020 sense resistor for a 075 resistor to decrease from 5A to 1.5 amps, but i have a doubt what happens if the sense resistor breaks down, the driver wont work or it will turn into a direct driver?

Lol ya would be nice to have Bluetooth drivers and adjustments. I heard of flashlights like that, forget what it was called tho. I'm not sure how it uses the sense resistor, but if it burns out, it'll probably just go open circuit. Worth a try though. Let us know how it goes! Cheers, David.

@@DavidSunshine Great David, a Mate told me the resistor it works like a feedback. Do you know about lighted switches right?. Well I installed one in my Convoy C8 clear but for some reason the threads on tube are anodized but threads in the tail no. So when I'm closing the host the lighted switch in the tailcap looks like a party strobe when closing that is what we call false contact true? well the real question here is, ¿ is dangerous for Li ion batteries to put in false contact when closing a light with lighted switch installed ?

I actually don't have any issues with my USB-rechargeable lights getting their ports unflapped. All except one, the Fenix UC52. But all of the newer fenix USB lights have internal waterproofing on those ports. The next test I'd like to see would be the inner waterproofing on some of those newer fenix lights that say they have internal waterproofing on the charging ports. Namely the PD36R, the TK20R and the UC52

Hi, That's good. I had my OTR M3 Pro cap come open, but might be cuz I had a bunch of stuff in my pocket; shouldn't be a problem normally though. I rather have quick access to the port rather than a clean body though. I like the convenience. The waterproofing sounds good, hopefully it stands up to water. Thanks for all the recommendations! Hi, Oh cool, looks like a new design. I see the switch is different, hopefully water resistant this time. Must have learned from the previous mistake. It looks like it uses the XHP50.2, so probably won't pull as many amps so may not have the issue of this one. These 3 x XHP70.2s pull way more current initially. The RC30C is a good balance of power, 9000lm, throw and size for sure, probably a good reliable light for hiking and actual every day use. The MS03 was meant to be a lumen monster, breaking records with 13,000lm, so more problems will arise with pushing the limits, but some people want the most output so it's got its niche market. Either light is still a good purchase though, just depends what you're after. Cheers! David.

Hi, Ya the turbo needs a very high voltage and everything needs to be clean for it to work. Even then, due to the high amps it draws, it'll go into low voltage protection prematurely. Unless we reprogram it, we can't really fix it. Did you get it from Amazon? Can you ask for a refund? If you try all the cleaning in my other video, then the battery is probably too weak to support Turbo. Or there is some resistance in the system. Message the company and see if they can repair it for you. You should be in the warranty period. Cheers, David.

Hi, I'm doing well thanks! Hope you are too! This flashlight is not very useful, since it has a side switch that isn't water resistant, so it's useless for anything outdoors in the rain, and the turbo mode operation fails due to voltage drop, so it's not useful as a powerful light either. It was a fun toy for high lumen output, but other than a novelty with insane output for a few seconds, it's basically useless. If you want to char paper, that's about all it can really do. If you want an actual 1 x 21700 light that's powerful and useful, I would search for some brand names with 21700 lights, Olight, Astrolux, Mateminco, Lumintop, all of those should have something. For instanace, the 10,000 lumen FW21 PRO would be a water resistant and high powered output light, with proper temperature control which is programmable to your liking, it's good if you want super high lumen output for 30 seconds, but it will get hot and reduce output to avoid overheating (tidd.ly/3NRqDUv). The 2100 lumen Olight Warrior X Pro is a very useful high quality light, with lower lumen output, but still reasonable for the size, it won't overheat so much at that output. I guess it depends what you're looking for. If you want HIGH output for longer, a soda can sized light is good, the 45,000 lumen Manker MK38 would be good, using 3 x 21700 (tidd.ly/3xNryQr). But those aren't easily pocketable so aren't as useful. At least the FW21 can be carried in a normal pant pocket. I would avoid 26650 form factor lights, they can be a little big compared to the 21700. 21700 is definitely the way to go for high powered in a compact form factor. Cheers! David.

No. Unfortunately, the issue is deeply rooted in the design and programming of the driver. It needs to account for the voltage drop at high current, but it doesn't. The new batch might address the threadlock, but it sounds like they have not addressed the LVC unfortunately. If you get it off Amazon, you can test out the most recent ones, but I doubt they have fixed it. If not, you can easily return it as detective. Cheers! David.

@@borasiman648 Hi, I haven't tested or read up on the RC30C, but from what I can tell, they are very similar, just looks like the RC30C is dialed back a bit in power, probably to address the low voltage protection issue, and the side switch looks like it could be actually water resistant, but we wouldn't know unless we took it apart like we did the MS03. The MS03 only pushes 13K+ lumens for a short amount of time when the battery is at full voltage, so I really don't think you'll notice any difference between the two unless you set up a light meter and compared the numbers. After the initial burst, I'm sure both will get hot quickly and reduce down to about 3000lms. The RC30C will probably take a little longer to get warm, but they both are small lights with insane output. If I were to decide between the two, I'd go with the RC30C since it has better chances working in the long run, and we know for certain the MS03 gives up early and has a leaky switch. There might be other similar lights out there by other manufacturers too, Olight is good, but you pay more for quality, you'll get some good performance out of nitecore too. I like the price and performance from Sofirn, Astrolux, and Convoy the most. The lights with the Anduril UI are really good, once you use them, you'll really enjoy side switch lights. The Imalent UI is ok, buy not great . Check it out! The Matemino TK04 looks interesting too, it's a big light with 4x XHP50.2s that can do 13500lms, but it's a 26500 light. If they made that in 21700 and a little smaller, it would be nice. Seems like a good light with Anduril tho. The MK04 is also 26650 but has a smaller reflector, it could work with a 21700 too, a little bigger than the MS03 but I think it'll actually hold 12600lm longer with the bigger size, also has USB C on the side. There's a lot of offerings out there, I can't keep up. Check them out online, like AliExpress, if you're interested. Cheers! David.

Imalent say 34000 on turbo, but 1lumen measured 25000 and "Dave" 29000... it would be interesting to see what you find. The most interesting thing about MS08 is the temperature control/fans. Cheers

Haha thanks man! Always good to be crazy than boring! Being boring would make me go crazy. I haven't heard about the MS08 until you just mentioned it, looks crazy!! That's a good light, which addresses all the issues we had with fanless designs, I like the way they are going. They have always been good innovators and pushing the limits of high powered flashlight design! They are also crazy, in a good way! Lol. I think 34000 might be the peak right at startup on full batteries, I like to measure at 5 seconds, to be fair it should be 30 seconds for the rating for advertisement since that's what the ANSI FL1 standard says, but graphing it out, we see that it drops dramatically as it heats up. We should do better testing, for example: We should really call it initial 5s lumens of 34000 and standard 30s lumens of 25000 or long term 30m lumens of 10000, that'll give a better understanding to our lights. If you're interested in a monster light but one that delivers more on the promise, the MS12 is better in some ways (although it's less waterproof and doesn't have really low lumen modes...and the fans are noisy), at least according to what all the tests say: and holds 10,000 lm or more for 50m.

I like the soda can form factor more since you can carry it around easier, it becomes more useful if it can be put on a pocket, for work, camping, working on the car. We need the most powerful light with moonlight, water resistance, usb ports, OLED screen to see battery voltage and level, all in a good form factor, we basically want it all lol. The MS08 is getting there. There should be a way to set it to quiet mode too, then it'll provide the max lumens while keeping the fans running at a lower speed. That would be awesome! And Bluetooth to a phone app so you can easily enable or disable features/modes, program, or operate it in advanced modes. Could show remaining battery life current voltage or operating power too. If you can set an alarm so it'll act as a sun rise light it would be cool too. Now we are going a little crazy here, but why not? Cheers! David.

Great review, i bought the flashlight after watching this, was searching for a second battery and came across Imalent MRB-217P50 which is a 5000mAh 3.6V 18wh compared to the original Imalent MRB-217P40 of 4000mAh 3.6V 14.4wh, would the 5000mAh battery help the red light problem or cause more issues, useless with electrics so don't want to short my new torch out. Thank you! Glad you liked it. It's a beast of a light, as long as you get a new revision with the fixed LVC issue. Good question, in short I recommend using the 4000mAh that it came with, and getting a 2nd battery of the same model for a spare. The 5000mAh cell is based on a higher capacity cell, which will have less ampacity (higher internal resistance), this will result in a greater voltage drop when you try to pull high current, which the MS03 pulls when it's in Turbo or High. Due to the high current demand, I'd recommend sticking to the 4000mAh high-discharge cell for a replacement. It will provide the power required by the MS03 under the higher modes. The 5000mAh may work for medium and low modes, but in High and Turbo, the light will see a low voltage and engage the low voltage protection. In a nutshell: To get a higher capacity, they add more electrolyte, to make room for that they reduce the thickness of the current collector layers, the thinner conductor results in more resistance and less ability to carry current, great for more runtime but not good for high output. There are starting to be more offerings in a single 21700 format. I would look for something that is similar size but in the 6000lm range, cuz more than that and it's gonna get too hot too quick, which limits the use of the light. Check out the Lumintop FW21, there is the 3x XHP50.2(10000 lumens) and X9L(6000 lumens) versions. Both are great lights, with the X9L being a great thrower, and the XHP50.2s being great for a search light, but it'll in mind it'll get hot twice as quick as the 6000 lumen version. Lots of great options out there in a single 21700 format. Cheers! David.

I think the MS06 will have the same problem as the MS03, it's just a tactile switch that's covered by a metal button, so once that gets wet, it'll fail, until it dries out again. So these lights are not usable for hiking in the rain, it'll fail to operate properly as soon as it gets wet. Cheers! David.

@@Maykay1312 It's very difficult to make it water resistant. If you put tape over it, it won't freely click, but could work. If you open it up and put thick grease on the tactile switch, it could make it somewhat what resistant, but you remove silicone to take it apart so you lose water resistant there, and the grease can leak out and make a mess. They should have designed it with an integral o-ring, but that could make the switch a lot bigger, which is why I think they just left it exposed, and not water resistant; they wanted this thing to be very small, so that's a compromise they took. The front isn't that water resistant, especially if you drop it once, the lens pops out and water can get into it easily. Water resistant is not great on this design, unfortunately. Cheers! David.

Hi, I would grade it 6.8/10, taking into account practicality. It's a good light, and the high lumens actually practical if you encounter an aggressive person as a security guard, it can blind them sufficiently so that they think twice before approaching you, the heating is not an issue for that, but the leaky side switch drops it's grade, since you can't use the same light for hiking or camping, it does rain a lot and your light will fail. The battery also won't kick into turbo unless really well charged and able to keep the voltage up, that brings down the score too. The USB C port is nice to have. It's a little expensive but the compact yet powerful driver and 3 x XHP70.2s is amazing, and worth it if you want quality electronics. It's just too bad the implementation fell short due to the programming of the low voltage cut off. Still a "good" light in my opinion, overall. Cheers! David.

@@DavidSunshine thank you, I recently purchased the dm 70 and ms18... the ms18 i feel like it's more of a novelty collectors item type of a light, on turbo it heats up extremely fast and extremely hot, I feel like a lot if imalent lights are similar in that way, not very practical if you're going to have your light on more than a few minutes, but for short bursts, showing your friends, or an aggressive attacker may be better, but not long periods of time like a regular flashlight with D cell batteries in my opinion

That's right, the lights have immense power, but they create a lot of heat, so aren't practical for long term usage at max power, but it's nice to have if the situation calls for it. Typically the bigger the light, the longer you can leave it in at higher lumens outputs, usually 50% or less though, otherwise they get pretty hot. That's why I like to do the lumen output vs time graph, it helps show what the light can actually provide if you use it long term. I think it's still nice to have the ability to go high power in these relatively compact lights though. The MS18 is big but I'm sure it can output 20,000 lumens continuous, so that's nice to have sometimes. The MS03 is actually pocket size, so it's nice you can have that while walking in the park, it can light up the whole field, even though it's for only 30 seconds, still pretty good to have. Cheers! I'd rather have the MS03 for a lighter light, it's plenty of power already. But if you're using it for work or need longer output for longer, the larger MS06 works well. But I think it's too big to carry without a bag, it's like a soda can. At least the MS03 can be put in the pocket. Cheers, David.

I want a light and carry able type light, but also don’t need it to fit in my pocket. I’ll be using primarily as a recreational, exploring/night walking type light. I don’t need super long run times but definitely want something bright that will last a couple hours.

@@justinh1258 Hi Justin, the MS03 will certainly give you a powerful utility light! If you want a basic utility light, check out the Wurkkos FC11, I use that one daily and it works very well. Not crazy powerful, but enough lumens for a walking light. Comes with a good quality battery and is USB C chargeable. It's on Amazon for a fair price too. Cheers! David.

Hahahah. More like flashlight heaven!! There are so many options, it's amazing! If you're looking for a generic utility light, I recommend the Wurkkos FC11, comes with battery and usb charge port, you're good to go! It's not a thrower, but it is a great light for general purposes, even working on your car. If you heat shrink a magnet to the pocket clip, it is even better! The tail already has a magnet too. If you want a headlight, the Sofirn SP40 is great. A small EDC, the On The Road M3 Pro. I don't recommend the MS03 unless you're looking for a monster light, but it comes with it's problems. Even if it keeps working well initially, as the battery gets old, you'll have problems with turbo. I guess it depends what you need it for. I use the SP40 a lot actually, so if you need one light that does it all, that would be the one, it also has a magnet on the tail, so it works well for working on most things, appliances, cars, etc. Let me know if you got any questions! @@Ollen1982 I see! Then you'll want to blind them, to glare then, you'll want the highest throw. Thrower flashlights can vary in performance, the better ones can go above 1km, I would recommend that if you want to blind them like you got the sun in your hand. The MS03 only has about 300m of throw, so not the best at blinding, you'll light up the whole field tho. I don't have a crazy thrower, but I'll see what I can find on AliExpress that I can recommend: If you're on a budget, the Sofirn C8G is a great compact thrower, 565m(619yds). The Sofirn SP70 gives you 687m, with 5500lm, great bang for the buck. Astrolux FT03 with the SST40, it'll be 875m with 2400lm. The Astrolux MF02 gives you 1587m, with 3000lms, is a fair price for such a long thrower, it won't be the best search light, but it'll be like a laser beam and blind whoever you point it at. A massive light is the Astrolux MF04S, costs more and it's bigger, but it'll give you 6000lm and 1549m of throw, so it's like the MF02 but with better fill lighting, it'll cause the same glare, but it's better to light up the entire back yard so that you can see if anyone is hiding in the corners. The Mateminco MT35 can throw 2416m, but it's only 2700lms, big reflector, but that will be a blinder! So there are some great options for you, the ones less than $100 will do fine, but for the crazy throw, it'll cost you. Choose the highest colour temperature to cause the most glare to intruders, 6500K is very blue and causes glare. Some lights are USB chargeable, I like those for convenience, but a separate charger is fine too if you want to go that way. The liitokala chargers are pretty good. Search that stuff up on AliExpress or Amazon and see what works best! If you're gonna use it at home, I would go with the bigger ones, giving you the best throw possible. You can always use your smaller lights when you're on the go, so no point in getting a more compact light, unless you want to use it for camping or something, then the FT03 would be a great balance between size, cost and throw, isn't over 1000m but pretty damn close, it'll still be blinding and deter trespassing. I'd probably go with the MF04S if my backyard was large tho, then I can easily light it all up and spot the intruders, and really annoy them with the blinding power of the sun. It appears a lot like the MS03, but with double the LEDs and uses 3 x 21700s, so I suspect it won't have the low voltage problems, but it might to a degree, the button probably isn't water resistant either, if it's the same button design. Good question! The battery was fully charged for the peak lumen test, which is taken after only 5 seconds, so we can see what its peak output is. That's the max it'll output if you fully charge it and it's fresh, but won't get that all the time. I do the runtime test with longer intervals so the output captured will be less than the peak. @@AverageReviewsYT You're welcome! Ya the side switch is an big downside. A flashlight that isn't functional in the rain is very limited. You'll want a flashlight that works well on cold rainy nights! The MS03 isn't a great EDC, more of just a pocket rocket. A good EDC is the Wurkkos FC11, or the similar, Sofirn SP35 if you want 21700. Sofirn SP33V3.0. Wurkkos HD20 if you want one that acts like a battery pack too, and are ok with a headlamp light. Many options out there. I trust in the Sofirn and Wurkkos brands, they seem to be better made and water resistant. Skillhunt M300 too. Cheers! David.

It's not the light for everyone, that's for sure, only those who want a pocket rocket for use in dry. It had great promise, but the IP rating was a false promise. Can't even easily be fixed. Ya I'm pretty disappointed with this light, why would they program it so poorly and leave a leaky side switch? Can't really rely on this light. Still cool for a pocket rocket, when it actually turns on lol. You'd think they would test the light before mass producing and selling it around the world. I like the LD10 light, it seems to function pretty well for a good price. Hit or miss with this company. They need better QAQC and R&D, user testing at least, to figure out and avoid these issues. I wouldn't mind the Marauder 2 as an upgrade, but Olight makes good lights and the X7R is going strong after 3 years so no need for an upgrade yet, needed to replace the batteries but that's expected. It's not as high output as the GT4 tho. That thing is a beast! Worth every penny for the high output lights in my opinion. Cheers! David.

I’ll make a review over it I’m sure I just hate that I can’t test lumens, but the one complaint I have against olight is their stupid clips. I hate them since the day I saw it and sure enough it got caught on everything until it snapped off. I was so glad when it snapped and left me with the only part I needed, it’s so stupid. The light itself there are a couple things I wasn’t thrilled about but overall it’s An amazing light and I have enjoyed it. The tm9k I’m excited for so long as Amazon can actually ship it like they said they would 😆

@@AverageReviewsYT Nice! The M2R Pro looks like a great light. Ya that clip is funky, nice that it can clip both ways but bad that it catches on everything. Glad it's broken and "modded" to be like a normal clip now tho. I like adding magnets and heatsink to clips too, makes it useful with that side magnet. The TM9K looks great, hand cannon! A review on it would be cool. You can get a light meter and make a light box for cheap, would be accurate enough. Check light meters in AliExpress, or amazon: amzn.to/3l2l3mF All you gotta do use measure the output at known outputs, then plot in an excel graph and create a trendline, can be linear. Then use that equation to calculate your light meter readings to solve for lumens OTF. It's not perfect but it's mostly linear so works relatively well. It's basically what the professional labs do, just using a white sphere "light box", light sphere I guess, and light meter calibrate with known outputs. You don't even need to use a light box. You could just use the light meter to measure the amount of light on the room between flashlights, but the room isn't all white so a flooded and thrower will skew the results, that's why a white sphere is good, then your reading is more of an absolute OTF number.
