My mouth dropped after seeing lovevery released a working kitchen after I just spent couple months doing a DIY version with the IKEA Duktig. That being said I got the Ikea one when it was on sale for $75. I also added a very custom look to ours that is way more eye pleasing to me than the Lovevery version. It took a lot of work as I primed, painted, and sealed everything so it would last. The contact paper I used I did not want any seams so I heated the corners to stretch so it wouldn’t have any folding lines. That was the toughest part.. I would say I spent maybe $100 on supplies for paint, pump, acrylic sealer, command hooks, contact paper, and Velcro that I used to adhere the backsplash (I wanted the ability to use it as a pass through or if I wanted to change the backsplash). 100% If convenience is your thing the Lovevery is superior as the water system is way better. Quiet and less maintenance from what I can see on their promotional videos. I do think I would still do the DIY. I like projects and know the effort and care I put into the kitchen I remodeled for my daughter. I added all of our hand prints on the back for a personal touch and hope to keep it for any future grandchildren. Also for anyone that has a functional IKEA kitchen. The trofast bin fits in the stove area. I store my kids pretend play foods in there but really you can put anything in there. I adhered the cutting board to the lid and it works great in keeping the cutting board in place.

Awe thank you!! So it was a personal preference with Lego’s (don’t like stepping on them and we haven’t ruled out the possibility of a third and don’t want choking hazards around). We did introduce them this year when my 5 year old asked, she keeps them in a bin in her bedroom and they just aren’t a playroom tour for those reasons!

Another thing to keep in mind with front facing carriers is to be very aware of if your baby is getting tired and sleepy. If they fall asleep, their head can tilt forward and they can suffocate against the top of the carrier without you realizing it!

I’ve read that the leg holes are on the smaller side making it difficult to get toddlers in and out. Have you had this issue?
@confidentlymomАй бұрын
They *feel* small I think is more accurate since most high chairs have a removable T-bar you aren't actually using leg holes to get in and out; whereas this you feel it when you remove them for sure! Personally I used this with my son when he was larger/older and it did require me to hold him a certain way but nothing too annoying for me personally. I suspect if you are starting from infancy it'd be a "boil the frog" where you wouldn't notice since you would've always been doing it since little; if you're making the switch with a bigger/older infant you will 100% notice it though and that may annoy you!

That's a cool video, thank you for doing that! Just wanted to add a different perspective for foreigners who don't have access to Amazon (some countries have hefty delivery fees since Amazon isn't local - like Amazon UK for the UK), in case some of your audience are like me. Lovevery makes it way too convenient to get all these items shipped together in one box than having to worry about finding equivalent toys in local toy chains. I barely have time to sleep, I'm not gonna spend it to cost compare and go through their entire catalogue haha. But then we miss on translation options, as the books are offered in some languages only. The good there is that my kiddo can't read yet so I just auto-translate as I narrate. Your daughter is very advanced, mine absolutely cannot deal with the felt stars and pincer and he's 23 months 😅I had to put it back for now as he's obsessed with the wheel bus from the Realist kit still and I don't want him overwhelmed with toys.

Any love for the Avenlur 3 in 1 stand?
@confidentlymomАй бұрын
Avenlur historically is a dupe brand - they basically take quality/trending products and recreate them for less. I've never had first hand experience with any of their products, but looking at the 3-in-1 what concerns me is the cut outs (similar to why i only recommend the Guidecraft with slots) that could be used for climbing/foot holes. I'd compare it's dimensions to the guidecraft and would feel wary about the lack of reviews. Generally speaking their 1:1 comparison on towers with reviews are about 4.3 vs 4.6/4.7 of the Guidecraft ones. So just stuff to consider in making your choice!

For us it's always our middle kid who wants EVERYTHING big sister or little sister have and is just never happy with what she gets/has even when she was so excited and wanted something so bad (she is 3, so I hope she'll outgrow it). We also have nearly everything shared. Each one has their own stuffies and one doll with full autonomy, everything else sooner or later we encourage at least turn taking. It's tricky right after birthdays though - our oldest is 5 now, so I'm pretty sure we need to start some kind of treasure box soon, over which they also have full decision power (they all share a room, so it's more tricky to keep anything truly seperate). If they fight over anything really bad, 5 minute timers work for us but I dislike it since it interrupts their play and they are only focused on how much longer their turn is. So we also mostly do shared gifts. Usually each of them asks for a small character doll and a new dress for dress up, and that's it with individual gifts. Our shared gifts usually include some arts and crafts, a game, some building stuff (we're starting with lego this year), some books that they repeatedly wanted to get from the library and every year they get the family memebership for the zoo - that's their absolute favorite thing to open even though it's just a slip of paper (the last 2 years they went nuts over it and they're already talking about it again this year). I think family gifts are so precious, to see them share they joy instead of sitting in different corners, busy with their own stuff.
@confidentlymomАй бұрын
My oldest keeps her birthday presents in a GIANT bag in her closet as her "special" toys - kind of like a treasure box; you could try something like that! Each get a section of the closet. She seems to like it too because she didn't get as overwhelmed with a million gifts strewn about; but instead had an intentional moment of looking through and choosing what to take out. She came up with it on her own at 5 so you'd be surprised what they may choose to do if you ask them how they want to handle it! I love the zoo idea!! And i agree on the family gifts clearly lol Wishing you guys a happy holiday!!

I think you should do more study and visit more Montessori classroom around the world before you make your video. In Montessori classroom, we do use color coded system in the materials or in different curriculums. Children also have a chance to make their materials especially in the cultural areas where they can use play dough to make landforms. And one of the big thing about Montessori is that we want to give our children the real life experience so the materials they use are as real as the ones adults use in real life and they learn to handle them with care. Montessori classrooms also have cooking classes where we do real cooking with real utensils and stove and oven. Children also develop care of self and care if the environment by washing their own plates and utensils after eating or washing tables or cleaning cloths. Children in Montessori school have lots of outdoor playtime and nature time to explore natures from zoology to botany. Our children learn about solar system, the relation of the sun, earth and moon, to all the continents and the countries and cities to their home. They are encouraged to learn all about the world whatever they are interested. They have a good concept of quantity in relation to the number symbols and as a result, they learn to solve simple mathematical problems at a young age, this also helps to build logical thinking. Because they learn language in order to help expressing themselves, they are able to create story with their imagination. They understand the difference between story and fantasy. They still enjoy story based play but at the same time they long for learning real knowledge about this world. Children’s mind are like a sponge. They can understand many things as long as we are willing to explain to them. And it is in their nature to want to know the facts around them, they want to do the things we do. Give them the choice of going to the farm and play with animals or to dig out potatoes, or just stay in a fantasy-liked room to play Cinderella, 10/10 would want to go to the farm to play with the animals and dig or plant in the garden because this give them a sense of belonging and also confidence which are greatly needed to develop social emotional skills as well as executive functions. Those who say Montessori education is cold, please do your research, observe more Montessori classroom, interview successful people who attended Montessori school when they were young before making such misleading and irresponsible comments.
@confidentlymomАй бұрын
I appreciate your comment, but I did go to an American Montessori school and so did my first child. This is my true experience and researched experience. It would be irresponsible and misleading to share what you’re describing as it’s not the cultural norm in the US. I agree, most other countries are more like what you are describing, but statistically in the states they are not. I also clearly defined what it was I was referencing in this, so if others have their own experiences or find something like you’re describing I would think they have enough critical thinking skills to not base decisions off a random KZbin video but their own experiences.

@ wow, you mentioned your daughter was struggling with reading or maybe just normal for her age? ? My 6.5 year old is working through Lovevery silent E books alongside our curriculum and playing the games but I do not know when we will get to chapter books! Right now those books take 2-3 days since she’s o my able to attend to a few pages at a time. I’m really hoping her reading will pick up. She’s reading more complex words but it’s still very slow. I know it will come when she’s ready.
@confidentlymomАй бұрын
She struggled to get started. She had wanted to for a while but nothing was moving the needle (couldn’t blend no matter what). Getting the lovevery stuff this summer jumped her like crazy! TBH I’m still in shock about how fast (even her teacher is). I do think in about 7 months (6.5 years old) she’ll be able to do the lovevery chapter books but I’d say that’s a year earlier than I would’ve expected before the program. I do think every kid is different and she has an incredibly strong desire to accomplish this goal for herself right now.
@AR-k39Ай бұрын
@ I think my daughter sees reading as boring and hard which is sad, I want her to love it! She could read faster if she wanted to but it’s more of a chore for her! I do hope to change that and I’ve always gone her pace. She’s made a lot of improvements from last year so we will just keep going. I don’t see her on the chapter books until next year, maybe late summer early fall, but we started on kit 3 since I figured the earlier kits were too easy for her.

You’re definitely not alone, most of my friends share similar stories. I will say I wake up with a book in my hand and she always sees me reading (I read about 150 books this year 🤣). My husband makes comments daily about my nose always being in a book. She’s always seen me reading and I’ve read non picture books to her since she was a baby. I tell her stories in books a lot which I think gets her interested since I know most of that isn’t common either 🤣🤣🤣

@kelsey30Ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing! How do you handle each child having their own toys vs shared toys? I have a 5 year old daughter and 23 month old son so this is our first Christmas where we are doing shared gifts and individual gifts. Last year was only individual gifts since my youngest was still a baby. You had mentioned your youngest would have a doll too so that his older sister would have a toy she could ask to borrow instead of it always being your younger asking for hers. My daughter has her own dolls/stuffed animals in her bedroom which we give her the autonomy to decide whether to share those or not but she typically will only share one or none at all lol. My youngest is usually the one wanting what she has. Our main living room space is where we keep open ended toys for both kids to play with. Thank you!
@confidentlymomАй бұрын
We let the kids keep toys they want specifically in their bedroom; if it enters a shared space, it's fair game (classroom/playground rules for us are, "you don't bring it if you aren't ok with others touching it"); and 95% of their stuff is in shared space. If sibling is playing with a toy you *actually* want back to play with, you can ask for it back and then they have to sort it out (we help). This is where having the doll that's his, but she'll really want, is helpful. Because if he is playing with one of her toys and she is getting upset, we have a few options: Have her check in and see if she really wants to play with it or if she has some other feeling about him using it (usually fear he'll break or damage it) at which point I remind her it's my job to keep everyone safe and I'll ensure she gets her stuff back undamaged or if it is damaged, I'll have another solution for her since he's a baby/my responsibility. Alternatively, it's a good time to remind her that if she is just taking it back to take it back, then he may choose to do the same with (x, y, z toy) that she likes to borrow. We also narrate proactively before disputes happen like when one of them comments how cool something is the other got, "It is! Maybe you can ask to borrow it or take turns trying each other's out" So we seed the idea often and early. The Darla book(bit.ly/4iAFWAE) has a whole sibling asking to borrow something scene they like to re-read and reference during those times too!
@kelsey30Ай бұрын
@@confidentlymom thank you so much for your input! My husband and I both grew up as an only child so sibling relationships has been a big learning curve for us (grateful for some helpful parenting books but it’s been a journey!) Your advice is very appreciated! I will look into the Darla book to read with my little ones, especially 5 year old. When you mentioned you let your kids specifically keep what they want in their own bedrooms - how do you help them decide, do you have parameters on which toys they keep in their rooms for themselves? Are the individual gifts they receive for Xmas the toys they can choose to keep in their bedroom? After watching your video I ended up adding a gift to my 23 month old son’s gifts that I know my 5 year old daughter will want to play with so we can get some role reversal practice instead of it always been the other way around with my little one wanting his big sisters toys in her bedroom. Thank you again!

@@kelsey30 Yes so they each have individual gifts in this video; My oldest obvious had more from being the first, so like her dollhouse is still in her room, etc. Birthdays they get individual toys and grandparents often give them specific toys too. I love the idea of numbering gifts and I will totally steal that for the future! I think spacing out the gifts throughout the day really is the way to go. Less stress and more fun. We aren’t really giving a lot of individual gifts this year, but my son is only 2 and I know he will get plenty from the family. We got the Lovevery reading skills set and some books, so we wrapped a few of the items up from that for our Christmas. I’m going to get some practical items for his stocking too like a countdown timer and maybe a mini dustpan.

Yup we are spacing out my daughter gifts over the course of 12 days 😂. Plenty for a 3 year old to open on Christmas Day and then one a day until they all run out. Some of these are “whole family” gifts or experiences or some are smaller items. She’s 3 so she’ll get overwhelmed with opening too many. This way she can enjoy all the presents her aunts and uncles got her and it can make the consumables like chalk and bubbles more exciting.

So, I always gift my kiddos a toy a bit more advanced knowing they won't use it now, but they can use it later. Granted we've only had the kit a week, but my kids don't like the compound word game at all. Like they don't even want to do it, and are annoyed when I get the cards out. So I guess I just won't worry about the compound word game at all?
@confidentlymomАй бұрын
I wouldn't worry about it right now! @@confidentlymom thank you so much. They like the dog game and already knew how to clap syllables from preschool, just the compound word concept isn't clicking.
