Great wee road and beautiful scenery, Scotland is so beautiful, only road it once on the bike, really need to return in the future, now I have cameras and drone. BTW, you are getting great audio. 😀 I use the DJI mic 2, synced to the DJI Action 4, means the camera is waterproof. works great.

Thanks very much Lucky. It is amazing that the bike return 60mpg and I think Honda missed a trick with the colour schemes and the decals. These decals are from Honda and were a £100 extra but I go them throw in and do think they transforms the looks. They seem to have learnt that lesson with the new models. Thanks for the comment. Alex

Hi from a new(ish) subscriber! Thoroughly enjoy your videos, especially as I’ve just had a new 2025 NT1100 DCT ES delivered - my first NT, and first DCT bike! Tomorrow will be my first ride on it… Can I just ask, do you find the tank bag to be waterproof, and what is your chain maintenance regime whilst on tour? ( I’ve had shaft/belt drive bikes for the last 20 years..). Many thanks, regards Paul
@blearyview2254
@blearyview2254 6 күн бұрын
Hello Paul, thanks for the sub and the kind words. It is always good to hear supportive feedback👍 You are making me jealous, I would get the new ES in a heartbeat but I would lose way too much money, hey ho. The DCT is wonderful on a tourer, just never stay in Drive, S1 is way better for the bike and S2 starts to get the engine singing. The Tank bag is totally waterproof, I was in a five hour downpour on my journey home from Orkney during a massive storm and when over in Europe in 2024 where I encountered lots of rain (there are plenty videos for both trips showing how bad the weather was). The chain on my NT is proven to be very good and got to say I have not had to do a lot of maintenance. It was cleaned and lubbed before I left for Europe and never felt the need to do anything until I got home and even then it was still well protected. The OEM chain on my NC750X was not great but the NT is way better quality. I hope the weather is good to you tomorrow and enjoy the bike which I think is a terrific package. Alex
@1962jpg
@1962jpg 6 күн бұрын
@ thanks Alex, yes my research on KZbin suggested to me that S1 would be a better option, especially when running-in the bike, as I feel the low revs in D could labour the engine a tad (it’s clearly designed to be driven in D mode from the off, but I’m old school…!). Reassuring to hear about the chain quality, but no doubt I’ll still take far too many cleaning & lubing products with me on tour! Good to hear about the tank bag as well, it will make a nice change not having to faff about with a cover for once.. All the best, Paul

Morning Paul, the video is really just about me sharing my experience and the do's and don't that you really only experience on the tour. Hi Alex, some good points there about planning. For anyone looking to go to Europe for the first time a possibility is to go on one of the organised tours. If you are happy to ride as part of a group then everything is planned and setup for you. It is more expensive especially if it is guided but the hotels tend to be 4 star so good accomodation and food. One problem can be if you are expected to stay as a group where the fastest riders can set an uncomfortable pace. My first trip was with Magellan Motorcycle tours, they plan the route and give you a set of GPX files for your Sat Nav with hotels and coffee and food stops en route, how you get between the points is up to you, you can ride as a group or on your own as long as you arrive at that days hotel at a reasonable time before the evening meal. For money I use a pre paid card, the money is put on as the currency for the countries I visit. For the eu I put in Euros, for Switzerland Francs etc, no need to wonder what the going conversion rate is when on the trip as it has already been done. For ferries if you are prepared to go further south the lowest cost is from Harwich to Hoek of Holland, quite low cost if you use an inside cabin.
@blearyview2254
@blearyview2254 9 күн бұрын
Hello Jim, good to hear from you again. The organised trips would certainly be a viable options and you would be more or less guaranteed to visit some decent places. For me, I am a solo rider who does not mind heading off to the unknown, it is fun. I did consider heading to Hull as it docks in Rotterdam and that about 90 minutes further south (depending on traffic conditions) so decided to stick to Amsterdam. Some good additional tips. Did you get your bike sorted?

@@blearyview2254 Hi Alex, finally got a phone call from the dealer last week saying the wiring loom had aerrived and was fittef and the bike was running. Unfortunately the electrical glitch had damaged the ABS unit so a new one on order. Luckily in stock so shouls arrive this week. Once that is fitted will have to be MOT tested before I can tax it for collection. I did take the opportunity to have a trip to Norway last year, had 4 nights in Oslo in October which gave me a chance to look around some of the museums and have a 2 hour fjord cruise. I did rent an apartment rather than a hotel to allow me to do my own cooking and not have to buy expensive meals, only £480 for 4 nights in central Oslo, 10 minutes walk from the station. I did buy an Oslo pass, free travel in Oslo and entry to most museums. Looking forward to getting back on the bike though, fed up of busses and walking.

Good to see how to do it properly🤣🤣 Good point about the tyres for when you get back. On our UK tour, the bin man decided his tyres were gonna be fine for the whole trip. Afternoon Paul, good that notifications are sorted. Later that day I got a real soaking, I put out a short showing how bad it was. The jacket is from the UK company Merlin, I think it is now discontinued but it is a cracking bit of kit. I can recommend the Merlin brand as I have a few bits. Have a great New Year.

Lovely video! Scotland is my go-to place, I’ve travelled up from my home in Essex around 15 times in the last 10 years, nothing comes close to the West Highlands.. My BMW GSA which I’ve owned for nearly 7 years has now been part-exchanged for a new 2025 NT1100 DCT ES which I pick up sometime in January. My first tour on the NT will be in June, incorporating Scotland of course..!! Thanks for sharing your trips! Regards, Paul 👍

Hello, that a decent ride to get to Scotland but the scenery is very rewarding for sure. A lot of my videos showcase the other side of Scotland and we have some excellent roads to enjoy and they are a lot quieter. I do like the new NT and the changes Honda have made can only improve an already excellent motorcycle. I am a bit jealous of you as I really do fancy the new ES version but the cost of change would be way too much. I should be heading to Europe in June but do enjoy your first big trip on your new bike. Thanks for commenting. Alex
