My favorite group since first hearing them in 1964 as an 11-year-old. And this is their best song from their best album, Let It Bleed. Guess that makes it my favorite song by them.

you're hearing the filters kick in and out. They are filtering out the other instruments to isolate the tracks

Gotta love the basic elements of each instrument - on their own they’re nothing really noteworthy but when you put it all together we hear the chemistry of the Stones, speeding up and slowing down doesn’t matter here, no click track to get in the way of spontaneous energy. What a beautiful, stoned, chaotic sound.
