tyvm for the vid! Looks great wide open but I am not a fan of hexagonal bokeh. The Domiron has the same issue, but as a 50mm it can somehow be forgiven.

tyvm for the video. I must admit - I prefer the rendering of the Mir for these specific images - very wild. However for real world shooting, I would probably prefer the Zeiss, go into post and make the necessary adjustments.
@red_code
@red_code 27 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment. I got the two worlds but I 100% prefer the Zeiss. If you shoot a vast land with the low-resolution MIR, even with "focus assisting" or "peaking" turned on, assisted lines may not be visible.

Here in Asia, the same thing happens and this rangefinder is now being "wanted" by many photographers, just to have the lens, killing a workable camera. I'm concerned about this just like, cutting off the shark fins (to eat) leaving that creature to die slowly. Thanks for your comment.

Do you think this is better than the 44-2? (as image quality and bokeh)
@red_code
@red_code Ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. According to my research, in resolving power from center to edge, the 44-2 has 38/20 lines/mm, and light transmittance of 0.82. The 44 has 35/14 lines/mm, and 0.81. The 44 is single layer and 44-2, chemical. No such big difference🙂

The 57mm 1.2 came up on a Facebook group. Then I saw what people were paying for it. So, back to reality at 1.4. Hope you figured out a way to get the moisture out of your lens.

Thanks for your comment. It was easy to remove that moisture, keeping it inside the dry cabinet. Here in Asia, a dry cabinet is a must. This lens, I bought by luck.

Second of your goods watching tonight. fist was the Meyer Gorlitz 1.9. That was classy. I think this was a bit too short. Back troubles have kept me around home in the Mission district of San Francisco, and just talking pics with my various Minolta vintage lenses of the unusual objects I have in late afternoon light coming through wood venetian blinds. Fuji X body, Fotasy adapters on all my lenses so i don't have to switch around. Have some goodies from Ukraine, and you can guess what they are...lots of blades. But a Minolta on an adapter seems to only focus as far as..well, let's say, 14-17 feet. And I only just noticed that. Find for indoors, but very limited for outdoors. And as the Minolta Rokkor numbers go up, from 50 to 58, even less distance. I don't have your longer lens. But I do have those longer Ukraine lenses...Looking forward to more of your uploads tomorrow night..and viewing them on a 27" 5K retina Imac...that I traded one pair of shoes for. Not kidding.

A great update and yet another great video! There are a few thousand early prototype Helios 44 models with an aperture value of f/2 to f/22, up 6 stops from the f/16 of ALL other Helios 44 and 44-2 lenses. They are relatively rare and may contain non-Soviet glass left over from World War II reparations taken from the Zeiss factory in Jena, Germany during Operation: Osoaviakhim. I'd be happy to send you one for review in your next update video if you promise to ship it back!

Can I do this in Helios 44-7?
@red_code
@red_code 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. This Old Zebra version, it has a long front thread. You need to unscrew the ring that secures the first lens then invert it from concave to convex. Your 44-7 has to have enough thread to secure the front lens, otherwise, the first element will fall off. Do this carefully and have fun.

Classy review. I wanted more.. This lens on apsc becomes an 87mm 1.4. Try buying an 87mm 1.4 for less than 700 dollars. The prices on these Minoltas are now creeping up. Which makes the 1.7 versions of the 50, 55, and 58 lenses the best deal on ebay.

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for your comment. This piece of glass is a gem, and I encourage you to have a full-frame camera, where the feelings for the D.O.F. are more noticeable. Have you noticed in my channel I never approach for the lens price, and why? It's to protect all of us - photographers/video makers from the snippers. 😄. They used to raise prices if we all promoted the lens at an affordable price. I respect my viewers and commentators most and hope @sclogse1 doesn't get the wrong side of my writing😉😊.
