Thanks for this interesting design tips. By the way as a french viewer just wanted to let you know that you made a big mistake on your “le plus belle hôtel de Paris” sign: in fact it should be written this way : “Le plus bel hôtel de Paris” instead . Hope you don’t mind my comment but just wanted to let you know in case you would sell these… :)

Did the in-line fan reduce Oder? I just got the AC Infinity CLOUDLINE S6 on Amazon and my office smells worse than when my GlowForge filter was full! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t know if my in-line fan is just not working properly or if this is what I am Supposed to expect, a smelly office!! 😫
@SteelForge1
@SteelForge1 Жыл бұрын
Yes an inline fan will definitely help with odour. If it's doing the opposite for you, you might want to check to make sure the air flow arrow on your inline fan is pointing toward the place you vent out (the window or hole in the wall). If it is pointing toward your laser, you'll be blowing the air inside the GF back into your room.

Great video. Very informative and a joy to have someone with your easy style. For masking, I'm guessing it's easier to do the whole piece rather than just where you are cutting. Looking at that piece you did, if you know the shape you could just do the outline so that you save tape? Once I get going I will figure out which is best and saves time. Thank you again.
@SteelForge1
@SteelForge1 Жыл бұрын
You could certainly spend time masking only the areas that you're going to be cutting or engraving but for purpose of ease and expediency, I just mask the entire piece. Thanks for the kind words too!

I know that the crumb tray is about 1.32" tall. I have a .65" set of tongue/groove boards that i use as a lift. I measure the item I'm engraving, add .65" than subtract 1.32" from the total so I have the "thickness" of the material I'm trying to engrave.

Hi Denise! The setting for each type of wood will be different as the grain of the wood and the hardness will differ. I'm not 100% sure about olive wood.

Great video where can I get the 3m roll and the other masking tape? Can I use the 3m sticky stuff for small items like dog tags so they don't slip around on the laser bed and move, also it should prevent it from scratching the metals.
@SteelForge1
@SteelForge1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! You can get 3M adhesive tape from various sellers on Facebook laser groups and depending on where you're located, probably Amazon. Same with masking tape. A quick Google search will point you in the right direction as well since it's different for every country/area. I wouldn't use 3M tape on anything you don't want permanently stuck. It's extremely strong adhesive.

Very helpful video! I am in the states and I tried looking up the 3m tape but there were so many different kinds to choose from 3m. Do you mind telling me the exact kind of 3m tape also the brand of masking tape? I don’t think all masking tapes are of equal quality and it seems as though you have found a good one! :)

Would it be simpler to measure the thickness of the crumb tray, then measure the thickness of the substrate (charcuterie board) and do the math. Meaning, subtract the thickness of the substrate from the crumb tray to determine the substrate height?

Just a handy tip if you don't have an adapter that fits your hose perfectly. I see a lot of 3D printed ones that address this problem and I see a lot of videos of people using ugly aluminum tape by the pound. Don't tape it AFTER you connect, tape the male adapter end BEFORE with blue painters tape. The simple answer to most of these misfitting hose to coupler is just build up about 1/4" of blue painters tape on the male end of any duct adapter, now slide the hose over the tape and, poof, perfect fit. In many case, don't worry about the clamps, just put enough blue tape on the adapter to it fits super snug, but if you want to clamp, you have this nice semi solid seal of the blue tape. All this talk about gaping of the hose when you clamp is taken care of.
@SteelForge1
@SteelForge1 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that would work if your house diameter is larger than the diameter of the coupler, for sure. I always recommend sealing up anywhere that you have a connection with the hose though. Taping up the connections helps to lessen the chance that smoke and smell escape. Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing. I got my Glowforge last month. I’ve loved it. Two things really stuck out that you said. First… there really are soooo many options out there. It really has so many capabilities. And focusing on a couple of things is definitely the key. Second… yeah… there is so much potential to make money. And a lot of the people that are making lots right off the bat do already have a customer base. I’m making money… but I didnt have a great customer base for this kind of stuff. So it’s not a lot. But I am making money. I just have to focus on a few things instead of trying to make ALL the things. LOL

Hi came across your video and like the fact that you used the the six in hose my question would it be safe to use a pvc adapter from the Local hardware store that adapts from the 4 inches to 6 inches(PVC S&D Increaser/Reducer Coupling, 4 in. Hub X 6 in. Hub) your thoughts on this are greatly appreciated by the way awesome video😊
@SteelForge1
@SteelForge1 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! Yes, any adapter that increases the back exhaust on the Glowforge to 6" would work just fine. There will be variance between all adapters so choose one that fits snugly and don't forget to seal it up with some good quality duct tape.

Hello, your videos are great I've liked and subscribed. I have ordered my glowforge plus ( unfortunately for us both I did not realize about the coupon code) But I am feeling very overwhelmed lol. Mostly about what happens when my Glowforge actually arrives in a few weeks (hopefully less)! lol Oh no it's game time then! 😳 I just purchased the Forge because I love my Cricut (for fun and creative reasons, who wouldn't lol ) I've purchased a few svg files on Etsy, but then what do I do with them? How do I upload them, it's so overwhelming and exciting all at the same time. Since I purchased the files in SVG form will I be able to just upload them and basically push the glowforge button? Any help would be extremely appreciated! 🙂
