You said the 747 Woodmizer blade is your choice for oak... what is it doing for you that others don't? I run the HM126 too and cut a lot of hardwood... looking for the best fast cut. Andy

Andy, up until last year we always used the basic Woodland Mills blades that came with the mill. Bought a ten pack and usd em' on everything..... soft and hardwoods. Then we got into some hickory and started having issues. The Woodland blades cut ok, but lost their edge pretty quickly. I talked to a local blade shop, told them what I was cutting and the hp of our mill, and they recommended the Turbo 747. Our experience has been they cut faster, and stay sharp longer. Hope this helps!

I feel like you can still have a healthy balanced pond with Hybrid Bluegills treated like pets I'm gonna build a pond and stock peer bread Bluegill and Shell crackers along with Hybrid Bluegill and Largemouth Bass my goal would be to grow Big Bluegill as well as decent 3 to 5 pound bass. My management would be to only harvest the smaller size bluegill/shell crackers and harvest the smaller bass and let the hybrids grow as well as the bigger bass I would also stock minnows and golden shiners twice a year to give the bass more food supply

Few Questions. What’s the pump pull for vacuum? Do you think it would be able to handle a CDL releaser ? Could it handle 200-300 taps? Awesome set up!
@bbfarmsmaple8011
@bbfarmsmaple8011 26 күн бұрын
We can get 25" of vacuum at the releaser, but I'm sure it's quite a bit lower at the tap. I've never dealt with a commercial releaser, so I really can't say how this pump would do with your CDL setup... sorry! I will say however, that is far from the optimum vacuum pump. We had it available, (free), so we used it. And I was very pleasantly surprised at what it was able to do for us. Matter of fact, since we literally just grabbed it outta the pond aeration system and put it to work last year without any maintenance, I've decided to rebuild it and use it again this upcoming season. AND, we're adding more lines/trees to it. Given the choice, I would love to have an actual vacuum pump intended for sap collection, but given our budget we will try this unit again this season. Thanks for the questions and comments, good luck with your season!

Can those hybrid breed sometimes? I heard the percentage of them being able to breed or produce is low
@bbfarmsmaple8011
@bbfarmsmaple8011 Ай бұрын
Yes, hybrid bluegills can and do reproduce. A common misconception is that they are sterile... NOT true! It's just that the hybrids purchased from a hatchery are mostly male, with some estimates putting them at 95% male actually. So in theory, the reduced number of females would seem to limit their offspring. However, if there are native bluegill present in the pond also, they will cross with those females. And, it only takes a couple females to populate a one acre pond! So, it's the job of the pond owner to try and curtail recruitment of the hybrids, by ensuring adequate numbers of predatory species are present. Thanks for the question!

@@bbfarmsmaple8011 It seems like it's possible to double the throughput. The exhaust (push) of the pump routed up to the beginning (end) of the vacuum (pull) line. (I'm speculating and contemplating. It seems like a semi closed (controlled sap outlet) loop.)
