I have to really disagree with you here. First I think it’s self defeating to say a hot/cold relationship is not interesting to watch on film. If the subject matter was concerned with how interesting it is, it would be to the detriment of the ideas it was exploring. Starkey’s character is concerned with maintaining his independence from a very experienced older man. At that age, if Allerton is less careful we might see him become a shadow of Lee. This increases the tension and pay off of seeing the couple achieve true intimacy. The third act is anything if random, From the start it is clear that Daniels characters eternal goal is to be truly and intimately in love. He explains early on that he’s experienced telepathy but the most difficult part about it is convincing someone else that they are apart of eachother. Taking Ayahuasca is laced into the plot from the first act. It is the obvious conclusion of Lee’s relationship with Allerton. He achieves intimacy, moving beyond the confines of his body and corporeal sexuality but tragically frightens Allerton who is not exactly mature or secure enough to handle such a harrowing psychological experience.

AH! The first person to say the exact same thing as me. First time I saw the Penguin I had no idea who was playing him. When I googled it and Irishman Colin Farrell came up I was blown away-there literally is NO SIGN OF COLIN FARRELL-well maybe just the eyes. He nailed him, limp, accent, attitude, looks- he WAS every inch that hard American villain.

I'm a huge fan of Sean Baker's movie and Anora is his masterpiece. If you watch his earlier work like Tangerine, The Florida Project and Red Rocket, they all have a very similar common theme of following characters that are low class and are sex workers. Anora to me is like a culmination of what Sean Baker has done as a director and put it all in this one movie. I understand the bickering and arguing can get old but to me that's normal if you're living in the NY Tristate area. Look at Uncut Gems, that had the same things going on that's in Anora.
@jeydoubleyewАй бұрын
I've actually seen Red Rocket and enjoyed it. The manic-ness of Uncut Gems really worked for me there because it always felt tense and anxiety inducing. It fit the circumstances and plot much better I thought.
@boolocklockАй бұрын
@@jeydoubleyew that's fair but the bickering to me made sense since Anora is trying hard to stay in her marriage while being challenged by those Russian family members due to her being a sex worker which they don't approve of.

Happy the film introduces young Americans to the despicable, unprincipled vicious brilliant attorney Roy Cohn of the famous 1950s anti-communist Senator Joseph McCarrhy.. DJT really was attracted to one of the most vicious and powerful break the law attorneys who ever practiced law in America. And about 5 days before Cohn died he was disbarred as an attorney. Most Americans have no idea how vicious and dishonest Roy Cohn was as being a role model for DJT.

This show rocked! Wonderfully malicious and twists and turns beyond counting. It’s great to see a villain being unrepentantly evil. Yes we learned about her past, but explaining isn’t excusing. She’s still a villain who would happily have continued murdering witches if she’d survived.

Dude, the Bay-verse TF were trash bro. They went so far away from the lore that the live action movie made absolutely no sense. The BEST Transformer movie is still the 1986 anime movie Transformers: The Movie. That movie was DIRECTLY tied to the Transformers, as it took place 22 years after the events of Transformers Season 2. For more clarity, watch the pilot episodes of The Transformers "More than meets the eyes" Episodes 1-3, then watch go from there. Watching more than meets the eye then season 1 & 2 will give you all the clarity into the REAL Transformers they put in love action

As a film lover I had to see, it but can only describe it as Visionary over indulgence. Technology in film is nothing without characters you care about and this film is just totally void of any. This makes 0:00 " One From the Heart " look like a Masterpiece. for the record that had flaws but was definitely a better film. I will say I would never walk out midway . You just can't do that if you truly love film .
