Thanks for the helpful video! I have one question, as I couldn't see it clearly in the video. When you're in a mixed double. Does the female also have to hit the highest target in the wall ball? Thanks again!
@woodsyworkout4 күн бұрын
No females hit the low target men hit the high in doubles. And it actually not supposed to count if females hit the top target

Haven't done a hyrox so far, but was doing several multisports events 16-24 years ago (then I quit) and always had the best results with loading carbs in the affernoon on the day before the race. If I didn't want to have an empty stomach, I ate a few fatty nuts or a tablespoon of coconut oil in the morning before the competition. During the competition, depending on the length, only water, or sugar-free electrolytes. Prior to doing that I always had "crashes" when I consumed these sugary sports drinks or these ugly gels. Thanks for your videos. Might get me motivated to do something again.

What strength or hyrox workouts , if any that you suggest in the week of your race ?
@woodsyworkout18 күн бұрын
The week of your race you don’t NEED to do any strength training, you CAN do a few sets of a squat or deadlift if it makes you feel good. Hyrox workouts that are good are some 1km repeats with 60s rest at your intended race pace. And using the sleds, rowers and skiers because they don’t create as much muscle damage as lunges and wall balls

Hello Woodsy. I'm hoping to do my first Hyrox next year ... just starting to train for it. Loving your content. Just curious to how fast someone at your level and physical build can run without doing the exercises between? For example a straight 5k, 8k, 10k race? Of course it makes no difference as this isn't what is being tested but I'm curious none the less. Cheers.
@woodsyworkoutАй бұрын
Thank you, that’s awesome. I don’t measure it too frequently but me personally 5km around 19mins, 10km around 42 minutes. But there’s plenty of examples of people my size and build that run faster with slower Hyrox times and vice versa. I done a video on “how to work out your pace for HYROX” that might be helpful.

Have my first Hyrox in 5 weeks. Did my first half sim a few weeks ago and the lunges kicked my ass! Was so surprised at how hard they were. HR just jumped up for the run after them. Rather find that out in training than on the day though!

Hello Woodsy! Quick question: I want to work on my wallballs (I'm a lightweight athlete - 155lbs) because I believe I can really improve my time. I wanted to buy a ball to practice at home but on my balcony I can, at best, throw it to around 2m - 2.15m high due to the ceiling. Do you think a 9kg ball would still be good preparation for the 3m hyrox target? (for the 6kg OPEN category).
@woodsyworkoutАй бұрын
Hey @kaprikornian1 I think working with the 9kg ball would be good preparation to build strength and power, so long as you keep good form and stop before the weight pulls you out of position. Then doing some in a gym with the 6kg before your race just to get a feel for race weight.

Great video - I have my first Hyrox coming up in Stutggart at the end of Sept! I am currently doing 2 outdoor runs (1 x Easy, 1 x Long), 2 strength sessions and 2 Hyrox based sessions which include running speed work (35-40km running per week). My taper would look something like 1 x strength session, 1 x easy run and 1 shorter hyrox race pace session at 50% volume ish? - Thanks in advance!

I saw a video of James Hall and Mark Lewis, and James did very little squatting movements while on the ski erg. I am wondering if that will help the legs to stay fresh. Do you have any experience with that more hip-focused movement?
@woodsyworkout2 ай бұрын
Yes you don't want to over squat the hips should stay above the knees. it is somewhat dependant on your build, James is tall with a lot of weight and strength in the upper body, if you are shorter and lighter you may need more leg drive to gain momentum. I've got a video where I go a bit deeper on technique kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKTaaKx_hdJ8o8U

Thank you for this video, super helpful! What distance would you be training for with a Hyroxs? I understand you'd want to get some good mileage, but surely you'd want to train for speed too? I'm thinking training for a half marathon distance, but would that be too far? Thank you!
@woodsyworkout2 ай бұрын
Thank you, yes it depends on your background and goals. Weekly running mileage varies a lot even amongst the elites. I did a half marathon build as part of my training last year and it worked well as my peak running volume and then I cut down from there with shorter faster runs and mixed cardio.

Garmin needs to buy in the whoop software for recovery etc or something similar and also integrate seperate straps, sensors or wearables that work alongside but independently from their watches. Game over then, they will have the serious activity monitoring market locked....imo😢

How would u split the ratio of exercises if both the same fitness and size pretty much? Also, how do u know if you are running too fast for partner if in single file ?
@woodsyworkout2 ай бұрын
If you’re both the same then I would split it 50/50. We had whoever is in front look back every now and then but as long as you communicate and stay close you can stay in sync.
