Do you purchase vintage coleman stoves?
@colemanrestorationsrepair417110 күн бұрын
@WaynJul On occasion, but not often. The box stoves just take up way too much room. I'm kinda partial to the older single burner stove, but with the hobby growing with everyone like it is, it's really driving the price up. I've been wanting a 520, but I'm not willing to pay what they want on eBay. God bless.

I prefer to soak things like this in WD-40. The Petroleum Distillates break it all up, the gums and varnishes from fuel. If moisture has been a problem you can also soak it for a couple days in White Vinegar. The acetic acid will dissolve corrosion. Then test it to see if the check ball seals. Either method for a couple days. You can't rush accomplishment it just cause more headaches. You try and if it does not work then buy a new part, not worth an electrical blackout or ruined camping trip. The valve is about $20 and the Tool $30 E-bay $50 Amazon Coleman Double END Check Universal Valve Removal Tool Fits Wide Narrow Slots 220b and Up for 1/4-32 and 8/32 Check Valve Stems
@colemanrestorationsrepair41718 күн бұрын
@stur.7502 The wd40 dose works well for the gums and varnish but 99%of the time you will have a heavy tarnish that the wd40 will not remove and I did use a check valve tool to pull it and put it in the vinegar to remove it. The first part of the video was just to help out someone who doesn't have a tool to do the job. There are a lot of beginners and people who might only have one lantern they would like to make run again without having to invest in the tool or can't afford to. Thanks for watching, and God bless.

@@colemanrestorationsrepair4171 Thanks for the reply back! We just had a maga outage for three days. My lantern started having pressure leak issues as in the tank pressure would run down rather quickly. I found the valve stem graphite packing to be very loose. Man, for the cost of rebuilding i could buy a new lantern, however i don't like new things so i will just machine the tool and get what is necessary to get it back to top notch. I forgot to mention that as far as the 3-piece cap seal goes, that also can be soaked in WD-40 to help plump or swell it up in an emergency situation to create a more positive seal. Seems like e-bay sellers have most of these parts and the cheapest i found Coleman Brand fuel was at ACE hardware stores, less than $20 gallon
@colemanrestorationsrepair41713 күн бұрын
@stur.7502 good to know on soaking the fuel seal in Wd40. I haven't tried that.
@stur.750212 күн бұрын
Just on the whole, there is either a flat rubber washer or gasket ie...200A Lantern like a water faucet gasket and then there are actual Buna or Nitrile type actual O-Rings that are round, not flat.

@otherwill220228 күн бұрын
Honest and genuine question. I forgot where I saw this or heard it. But I think someone had one of those white gas or kerosene lanterns but replaced the mantles with a fine fine steel mesh and it stopped producing light but it turned it into a small space heater. Just think that idea is neat and curious if it’s a good or dumb idea Wouldn’t blame you if you made it or made a video making one God bless Happy thanksgiving

God Bless You Buddy, I’m glad you found a good Church. Jesus woke me up about 5 years ago and brought me back into his fold. I just recently got a Red 68’ 200A survivor. Means a lot to me because it’s my year of birth. Stay strong and put your faith in King Jesus.

I was just working on a pair of those. You answered my question if that fuel pick up tip unscrews. I tried gently to unscrew it but was worried about breaking it, one of my tubes is pitted kind of bad. I put the mesh screen back on with aviation tie wire. I’m going to unscrew those tips and clean out that tube a bit. I don’t think the ultrasonic cleaning bath got all the crude out. God Bless
