Ive got stage 4 cancer and had this. It was the most horrific pain I've ever had in my life. The pain is opiod resistant. A&E left me screaming and crying in pain. The only thing that sorted it was hospice care who treated it with Diclofenac and buscopan infusions.

I like your thoughts on to treat or not treat. My husband is 69, S/P MI with 4 stents, (blood thinners)High BP, Multiple Sclerosis 30 years, disabled and obese…now with PSA rise since last year. 4.3 to 5.4😳. His Urologist did rectal exam, drew another PSA but failed to ask if he ejaculated 24 hours prior to PSA draw. Result was 7.4😳😳. mRI results came back and now having biopsy. Surgery will take a big toll on his mobility and recovery🥺. He almost had to do rehab after his heart attack. I am so afraid for him…for us🥺

I’m having this done in two weeks. I’m getting over the anxiety by binge watching all these related videos… what worries me now, as someone who can’t void my bladder, is that with the injection of saline or water, I’ll have an accident on the table once the procedure is over. This happened to a friend of mine. Great informative video though, thank you!

DOC have YOU had this procedure done? Seems like providers say the procedure isn't that bad, or isn't really painful never had the procedures they are talking about.... (Barium enema, slight discomfort, turns out it is a military torture procedure to get you to talk....

I don't know why the video was recommended... Strict NO urine cath and definately no cystoscopy for any reason... so again I don't know why... oh and before anyone asks, I have the paperwork to prevent it, and my proxy knows not to and is also barred to give consent...

Part of the problem is that as a patient, you are put on display for all your female staff members to stare at. And NO, I don't care what they do all day, every day! You can put your patients a little more at ease if you would hire some male staff members. Is there any end to the embarrassment or humiliation that you will cause?
@helookalikaman792 ай бұрын
Tell the "doctor" male only, and since you are apparently awake, they can't pull the bait and switch... If they say no males available, call your health insurance company tell them the doctor wants this test done, but refuses to have male staff only for the procedure.... The insurance company gets all that bs out of the way... I had to call mine 3 times needing testicular ultrasound.... the facility went from "We do not have male sonographers employed here" to "There is one that floats around but not on a set schedule so we don't know when" to finally "Your appointment is scheduled for friday" I get there the last time male tech, thanked me for not backing down, and he was there every friday... Watch out for the bait and switch.... I would get an appointment be told a male tech... I get there and of course female tech... I refuse they start the "well you are already here, we can get the test done very quickly" shocked Pikachu face as I say no and walk out.... Hell one told me it wasn't right for me to "get special treatment" Basic human dignity is not special treatment....

Good information. Terrible recommendation though - there is no test/procedure that is more humiliating and embarrassing to the typical male patient than Urodynamics. Multiple testers, who are almost always women, will be observing and handling the man’s genitals and placing electrode pads on his perineum while he is bent over and fully exposed. Exposure is not brief - lasts many minutes while bladder filling and emptying occur. Hard pass!

Everyone's different. This procedure was one of the most painful things I've ever had to go through in my life. 30 seconds to a minute is BS. My Dr was in there close to 5 minutes and didn't find a damn thing. All I wanted was to get that thing OUT of me. Anxiety was HORRIBLE beforehand. They gave me a Valium but it didn't do squat for my nerves. NEVER EVER want to go through that again. Will be even worse if I do because now I know how bad it hurts.

I have a semi hard lump approx the size a pencil eraser on my upper right of my testicle it is sore when touch it or rubs on clothing. It doesn't have a head like a pimple would if it was at it's peak. It doesn't seem to be growing but it's not the only one I've had, I've had several. I have had one on my chest about the size of large grape, one on my back that is now gone, one on my bicep that's almost gone and I have a ganglion cyst in the top of my left foot that is extremely painful that I have already talked to my doctor about and plan on having it removed or drained soon. The one that I'm concerned about is this one on my scrotum/testicle. Wondering if I should see a neurologist?

Hey, I just had it done yesterday for the second time. It couldn't have been any easier. VERY slight discomfort (not pain!) as the camera was inserted and then it was all over in just a few minutes. No pain or any after effects at all. It was interesting to watch on the screen as well. Anybody - just get it done. It's painless and could save a life!

Very informative. Catheters suck, I can’t imagine leaving one in long term. I’ve had several, and by the way if you have one after surgery (like TUR*) the flesh likes to scab to the catheter. I found that if you push it in gently spin it 360’ about twice a day, when they finally remove it the pain is far less. Why don’t Doctors tell people about this, or how to flush it?

Being taught is a wonderful experience (sarcasm), 2 urology residents standing there talking you through it. A truly humbling experience. Sometimes you wake up and can’t go, and even worse can’t get a catheter in. Nothing like an emergency bladder neck dilation to wake you up. I don’t recommend it.

So I end up in the room where the exam is to take place with two nurses, young married women, asking questions telling me about the procedure. Then they ask me to take my pants and underpants off, get on this exam thing with my feet in these stirrups. So there I am, exposed to the world and just joking it up with these thirty something nurses like yust your ordinary day. Like a.nudist colony where I am the only nude one there. Weird. Take your worst thoughts about the procedure divide by fifty. That's what it is like.

I’ve just started self catheterisation. I’ve managed it myself 4 times. Once with the nurse present. It’s still a struggle especially when it gets to the end where it’s almost in the bladder and passes through the sphincter. Any ideas?

Had this done a few months ago. The numbing gel injection felt strange as you could feel it traveling the wrong way. The cystoscope was uncomfortable but I wouldn’t say it was painful. There was some pain when passing from the prostate through the bladder sphincter, but it was manageable. Overall it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

First I AVOID male urologist, they tend to be arrogant, uncaring, and indifferent to any pain they are causing. I’ve actually had one tell me “you’re probably used to this by now” And inserted it without lidocaine. Every female uro I’ve had put in lidocaine, clamped it and allowed at least 5 minutes then did the scope. I didn’t feel any thing.After my cancer and subsequent “procedures (they say procedure, because it’s kind of misleading”. Get all the information, if it’s possible get sedation. I’ve had some done (investigation) that were no big deal. And others (removing calcifications), yea sedation for that one.
