Thanks for the post. I too will be living in Florida soon and will be building out a garage gym. If it works in Miami it will work West Palm. Thank for the tip

I upgraded mine with a space saving pullup bar with a 24” extension (I have the small rack and it was 2 small to do pull-ups without my feet touching). So now I’ve got the 36” + 24” and it’s huge. Debating getting the 12” extension to shorten it a bit, but I also want to get the Lat Pulldown attachment. What would you say is the minimum space needed for that? If I get the 24” down to 12” would that compromise the ability to do lat pulldown there and still have space to work within the rack? (Currently doing all my work within the rack)

Thanks for the review. I'm considering the T3 rack. Is it stable when doing pullups without bolting it to the floor?

There are adapters for 2x3 to 3x3 attachments. Just Google “2x3 to 3x3 rack adapter” and a lot of options will come up

Great cheap solution!! The only issue for me is my cats will want to come in the garage. I would need to install a screen or something. Any recommendation?.

I have been watching your videos and I got the same T3 rack along with the lat pull down machine, is there any way I can make my lat pull down as an adjustable pulley as well. I have a very limited space, trying to see how I can make the lat pull down as an adjustable pulley.
@DiscoveringStrengthАй бұрын
Hmm...that's a good question. I've some add an extension cable to use it as a belt squat. I'm not sure about converting it to an adjustable pulley. Here's a related video from KaizenDIYGym on the belt squat idea: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4elqKWLhMalY6ssi=jzgTUOZhM_e7X-lo

What kind of weight have you been able to do with this? Worried about using something like this for heavy work.

Most I've done is maybe 150lbs. I don't typically lift that heavy. I think the total capacity is around 300lbs.👍

My rack is also a T-3. I did the exact same thing about 4 years ago. Because the numbers are on the front you will find that the numbers will rub off as you take off and on the j-hooks. If you apply the numbers to the side the j-hooks will not rub the numbers off. Thank you for your videos.
@DiscoveringStrength2 ай бұрын
That's good to know. That crossed my mind that they might rub off over time. I may apply additional stickers to the side.👍

Good Idea. I have to offer some video criticism. You need to talk faster because you are talking way too slow. I think your videos will be better received if you talk with a more natural rhythm.

I was going to go with 2 wedges, but yea I figured that it would be annoying to have to line them up perfectly. Also I found that when the heels are elevated, I can then very comfortably squat deep with a narrow stance with my feet facing straight forward, really putting it mostly on the quads, which is great for using 1 longer wedge. Then the trouble is finding a wedge that isn't so wide, because it needs to easily fit through the middle of my Rogue trap bar for my trap bar squats (squat movement pattern). Thinking about exercise a lot, and how to further optimise what you're after, can lead you to some weird places lol.

Yeah I recently bought a new all-rubber wedge.👍 Here is my video on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWbIgKt9oL-IhJo

You saved me so much time! My top cable doesn’t go all the way to the ground for ab pull-downs. So probably going to buy an additional chain to attach when needed. Absolutely love this addition to my rack. I can even put my feet under the bottom rail for sit-ups as it’s the perfect height! I also lubricated the pulleys like in your other video. Gave a 👍 thanks again bro

@DiscoveringStrength3 ай бұрын
Well if it makes you feel any better I've had mine for over 4 years and there's no issue with the cables. I suppose that comes down to the overall load capacity...

I just put together the tall rack in basement , too tall for 8 foot to clear so SAWZALL used to take off 2 inches and clearance good now. i have 36 inch deep version and lat attachment is next . which requires 15 inches clearing back wall behind it for the tallest standard Olympic plates or Bumper plates.now all very tight and sturdy as it sets on Rubber fatigue Matting on floor. #225 for try ut on squats and no shaking nor floppy . this comes with a second 2 inch pullup bar that can be added as extra Bracing strength I will find a place to attach later
@DiscoveringStrength3 ай бұрын
Sounds like an awesome setup! In retrospect, I probably would get the 36" depth version. 24" is too shallow. Love the sawzall to make it work!👍

How much length does this attachment add to the rack? I have a small garage and I’ve been considering this. Also I have the leg extension attachment, do you think it will interfere?
@DiscoveringStrength3 ай бұрын
You'll need 15-20" off the back of your rack. I'm not sure about the leg extensions attachment since I don't have it.

Hope you figured this out. No, they are not the same length. Sounds like they gave you the wrong cable.

@DiscoveringStrength I appreciate the reply. Turns out i was missing the "extension cables" which were jammed into the end of the tube that that rods were shipped in 🤣. Not a fan of that design as the extra terminations limit ROM through the pullies, so I may be making my own cables eventually.

Hey, thanks for all your videos. I am building a home gym that is extremely similar to your set up. I wanted to ask about the lat pulldown attachment, does it get in the way of you benching at all since the bottom crossmember inhibits how far you can bring your bench in?
@DiscoveringStrength4 ай бұрын
Yeah it does get in the way a bit. I end up benching outside the rack with safety arms. That's also because I use the rear rack uprights for plate storage.
@arttimm91533 ай бұрын
Even with the gorilla tape the mats will separate somewhat. One solution is to use double faced tape to fasten the mats to the floor. A less extreme solution - if you don’t want tape stuck to the floor is to use a peel & stick vinyl tile with the sticky side up to connect the mats at each corner where the mats meet.
