The gymnastics rings do help with strength training though... I think ur doing the most with your loadable dumbbells, you can easily skip the first 2 steps. Although using 25s or bigger might get a little clunky. I definitely prefer more dumbbells. Titan has a leg holder specific for the T3. End of the day, it comes down to what we individually prefer and will actually use. As always great video

No argument there on preferences. That's absolutely the case. I've just found these 4 things aren't for me. Rings would be great for someone else just not for me. You can skip the first two steps with the dumbbell handles, but if you're lifting heavy then it can get precarious getting into position. I'm now aware of the T3 leg holder. It looks like it would work much better. Problem for me is it looks bulky and I'd have to find some other storage solution for it.

The thing you need to hold your legs for lat pull-downs is the x3 leg holder then you modify it with a 5/8” block of wood or plastic to fit the t-3 perfectly

Man why you just dont put these loadable dumbbells on the ground and then load them with weights?! Like you were serious when you tried to load them while your hanging them on the barbell like that?

Good observation. For me, if I lift heavy I don't want to pick them up from the ground and potentially injured myself.

Gymnastic rings, same here. Bought them, like them but rarely use them. Loadable dumbbells, same here, I ended up buying a rack set over time. The loadables were great for the time I needed them. Now they are just decorations. Pretty much goes for anything else that takes a lot of time. I would also avoid lever arms that are time consuming to set up. I have a set of Bells of Steel lever arms and they are great because they are a quick set up.

I feel exactly the same about items that require a lot of set up. The more I use things, the more I gravitate towards convenience!

The knarly handles from Titan. I bought them along with two landmine attachments in the hope of making a set of jammer arms. While they do work somewhat they are a pain to set up and I never use them.

I definitely get that. The convenience factor has become much more important to me. I don't want to spend a lot of time setting something up 👍

I've been considering those. I've just been hung up on the boxy design. Any issues using them? I hear they are heavy duty and last forever.

@@DiscoveringStrength I've had mine going on 10 years, so I think it's a long term purchase. I don't think it took me long to adjust to the shape. I think they're very balanced and feel good.

@@johnbeverungen6570 Whatever you do not want to get adjustable dumbbells beyond I'd say 70lbs because the more lbs. the wider they get and because it's not wise to let them land heavy after a set the getter lbs. are not a good idea. I have Powerbocks up to 70lbs and they are great, but I will be adding regular dumbbells to increase the lbs. moving forward.

I feel you on the rings, I bought them quick and realized too late its annoying to change lengths. Those spotter arms intrigue me though....

Yeah, the rings just don't fit into my programming. Could be great for others. I've liked the spotter arms. They're super heavy duty and open up more options outside the rack.👍

@@DiscoveringStrength Regarding the spotter arms...are you afraid of missing the barbell when you try to rerack at the end of a tough set?
@DiscoveringStrength
@DiscoveringStrength 2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah the Mad Spotter hooks. Well it takes some getting used to. It's not a perfect solution but it definitely helps to spare your shoulders when getting into position. I haven't felt too worried about getting them back to the barbell but I don't usually push myself to the limit just to ensure I don't run into that scenario.

@@DiscoveringStrength Thanks for the info. I purchased a home, and I'm finally going to create my own gym. I'm waiting to buy all the equipment around November/December because that is when the sales start to popup on a lot of these workout equipment.

@@rogerjohnson2490 congrats on the house and starting the home gym! That's a good plan to see what kind of deals you can get over the holidays. In the past year or so deals haven't been great due to huge demand because of COVID. Hopefully this year deals are better 🤞🤞

Interesting, the first two items are clutch for me. My rings are useful for avoiding lateral epicondylitis from high volume pull-ups/chin-ups. But my garage is a single car garage I but I have a high ceiling. I am surprised that you don't like your Olympic dumbbell bars. In my case, I did not want a rack of dumbbells because one, it would take up too much space, cost way too much and would not go heavy enough for dumbbell rows, dumbbell bench press, etc. I love the fact that I do not need a second seat of plates, can go heavy (100+) and small footprint. I have the Fringe set which are nicer than the Titan's have the added benefit of being an even 15lbs a piece. The only downside I found is when doing dumbbell OHP they are wide enough to come a bit too close to the sides of my skull. I have a second, smaller and cheaper set I got off Amazon, I use for OHP, which for that and curls is easier to manage. Spotter arms are really unnecessary, there are plenty of techniques of getting dumbbells into position without equipment or a second person. The cost of an actual set, used or new, gives me sticker shock and all of the adjustable options are equally overpriced.

Well I think your comments get to the heart of the issue...it always comes down to personal preferences. Each gym owner and gym is unique with unique training preferences. I really wanted to like the loadable dumbbell handles, but it comes down to convenience. I opt for my lighter dumbbells because I don't want to break up my flow to set up the loadable handles.

I load my dumbbells on my bench first before putting them on my spotter hooks. I prefer to take a little more time for loading heavy dumbbells than the $1000s of dollars worth of dumbbells I would need to purchase in order to get the amount of weight I need for my workouts.

Horses for courses. I love gymnastics rings, however I can see why they might not be everyone's cup of tea. They take a lot of getting used to. Take the false grip for instance, it demands a lot of time and effort to get anywhere with it. Additionally, it is a lottery when buying rings online due to not knowing the quality of straps and buckles. I could well imagine there has been many a face plant owing to inferior fastenings.

That's a very good point. I think garage gyms are and should be as unique as the owner. Everyone has different preferences and different training regimens. The rings just don't fit my programming. Thanks for the comment👍

I have the Titan loadable as well. Awful for getting in position because the ends just dig into legs. Tennis ball solved that but still not the greatest. I ended up buying 60-100 lbs dumbbells.
