I wanted to comment to just say that your channel has become one of my favorites! I discovered your videos a while back and really clicked with your vibes. Your channel is such a refreshing break from all the high energy gaming content. While I still enjoy those types of videos, what I love about your videos is that they're wonderfully simplistic in its style. It's a great way for me to decompress after having an overstimulating day from work. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your playthrough. Cheers!

The introduction of the Legion in Nipton is just *chef's kiss* They have to be one of the best written villains in all of the fallout franchise. They’re just the perfect foil to the NCR in my opinion. So glad that you got to meet Vulpes in this video, he’s a real charmer lol. Also you might want to head back to the Mojave outpost and tell someone about what happened. I’m sure the NCR would appreciate the heads up

hi!! my gf and i love your videos soo much, and i thought commenting some tips would help! first, the ammo "cases" are just junk! they don't weigh anything so its not wrong to pick them up though! second, its much easier to stay on the given path aka the roads bc the bugs and random enemies are so much worse when you cross across the wasteland. the sort of "scripted" enemies you find along roads are much easier/ predictable, such as behind billboards or buildings along the road, or through small spaces such as canyons. pls keep making content you are so fun to watch!

Hi! I'd like to comment about some perks but from the perspective of game development (not F NV meta specifically). In RPGs that have XP, levels may be capped (FNV) or not (F4). In games with max level, a question is how much XP can be gathered in the game world: is it enough to reach max level? Dev may decide not to add respawns so the max amount of XP is finite and it may as well be insufficient to achieve max level without other mechanics (such as perks). But if the dev adds respawns (so infinite XP + max level) perks that accelerate XP just help reaching that max level faster: if the PC cannot be re-rolled later then that perk becomes useless upon reaching max level. A similar issue happens with skill points. If they're tied to level ups and there's max level, there may not be enough skill poinnts to maximize all skills (this happens in F3 & FNV before DLCs) so selecting perks that shift skill points from some skills to others make sense. However if the amount of available skill points allow for virtually maximizing everything, then perks that shift skill points are zero-sum and, again, late game are useless (compare to perks that do add things). On one hand I've given you my not-very-subtle opinion of many FNV perks (don't worry unless playing max difficulty, sub-optimal build sare more than viable) but I hope it may help you in future game development.

I'm not sure how much back-seat-gaming you'll really need. You look like you're learning stuff as a new player right on schedule. Fallout NV is also pretty good about not backing you into dead ends.

Since you invited advice, I will add some now n again. Hopefully without sounding judgemental, because I feel like people should play any game however they want. And DEFINITELY reject the meta, as it were, of how a game is "meant" to be played. I am 100% confident any glasses you put on will never break. Fallout is the only universe where glasses don't bend when you accidentally nap. in the Mojave Barracks you stopped exploring just short of the room where Ranger Jackson was, one of about 4 local quest givers. Not important, just completionist and tells more of the story about caravans. In fact, you bypassing trivial quests makes certain events much more surprising, such as the visit to Nipton, and I love that. But in this game the reputation system affects what quests you will get with whom, so getting NCR fame can be helpful if you want to align with them down the line. That said, NCR is fame is very easy to get, even if you ignore half their quests. Also halfway through the game your fame gets reset, so you kinda can do what you want for a couple dozen hours before you permanently tank your reputation with factions. Just in case you make strategic "mistakes" in how you handle certain main quest lines. ;) Forgive me if someone mentioned that in a prior video, I tend to read the comments before I make mine, but not after. The game will break the fourth wall and warn you about these things to some extent, so it's not worth being overly concerned with. The Mojave Express boxes act something like magical storage chests. Anything you stick in one, you can pull out of another at another location. A game mechanic I have never used after the first time Ave, and Vale, Hello and Goodbye in Latin. Vs makes W sounds. And yes, in ancient terms, C should be hard, like the equivalent German form Kaiser. Not that I care how people pronounce or spell things, just sharing from my classicist studies. I am a veritable font of liberal arts trivia that rarely has useful application in everyday life. 🥳Maybe "visceral" is an appropriate word for that Legion character's lottery for the town of Nipton :) Fun times. I am so used to my usual content creators who spit things out 3-5 days a week, that I forgot this one was going on. Always a pleasant surprise to log onto youtube and see something good! Esp when it is a bit too chilly to be hanging out outdoors today

Also, enemy armor becomes a much bigger obstacle later in NV, whereas it barely matters in FO3 or 4. The reason why there are so many ammo types for the same caliber of bullet, and the reason for the ammo workbench, is because you can tailor your bullet to your foe on the fly, by pressing d-up or 2 on a keyboard. While you have the weapon equipped in front of you. Shouldn't be very relevant to your playthrough, but I am saying in case you wonder what the purpose of the ridiculous amounts of ammo types is. Further maybe unnecessary detail: You will see that they have abbreviations and multipliers in the bullet descriptions. For most of the ammo types, they either multiply or reduce a target's armor (DT defense threshold), and have a damage (DAM) multiplier. For example, AP rounds multiplicatively reduce DT, but also reduce DAM. But on balance, reducing DT tremendously makes up for reduced DAM, on balance, when fighting armored foes. The game visually tells you when an enemy is resistant or weak to the bullets you are firing, by showing a little red shield next to their health bar while you are attacking them. Some ammo types also reduce CON, meaning the weapon firing them wears out and needs maintenance repairs more often than standard bullets. By the time I got to my 5th playthrough or so, I used automatic rifles and only the hollowpoint and armor-piercing bullets I crafted myself. All in the name of efficiency... of course. ;) But it's not at all a critical game mechanic, in case you find it outside the scope of why you are playing. Which is indeed the feeling I get. :)

14:18 I left a comment on your Fallout series reaction (last episode IIRC) where I mentionned that a big part of lore-breaking was the fact that NV portrayed NCR as a nation (not a city state) so the fall of the capital wouldn't neccessarily meann its total collapse (plus the shenanigans about the dates they chose). I hope that the game's storytelling may convince you, at least, of the size and power of the NCR. It makes sense then that a nation that can tax its citizens have a budget for prisons. "Who's overseeing this?" NCR until not long ago "Who's paying this" NCR citizens' taxes. The NCR truly represents post-post-apocalypse.
@mephistophelicpierogi
@mephistophelicpierogi Күн бұрын
definitely going back and playing the first two games, puts a lot more context into what the NCR is doing here, and why. But you can kinda get the picture just from NV alone as you proceed through the quests I think. Seeing the... let's say infrastructure, and stories people tell.

@@IfThenCreate A good rifle and a good handgun. Cowboy Rifle is good for now, but you will get more powerful rifles later. The Weathered 10mm Gun is good, but you will find a really good handgun in a shop in Novac. It's called "That Gun" and it is all you'll ever need 😁

@@IfThenCreate I think really the availability of ammo, more than anything, decides what you carry around with you for a while. Generally you'll want want a rifle that has some kind of zoom function, then something that can fire quickly for when people get too close. This game has the same sneak attack critical damage as other fallout games. Of course, sneaking and running away is always an option too. Kinda what you are carrying now is ok. Most of the early game shotguns are pretty trash unless you get appropriate perks. So. Rifle, pistol, then maybe a shotgun or submachine gun. Changing all those out for different models if ya don't have the bullets at that moment OH. I think this game has strength requirements on all its guns, which FO4 did not. It's not horribly important, they still can be used, but when combined with low gun skill, they make your vats and from-the-hip accuracy more difficult. Shouldn't be relevant for quite some time
@R.Daneel
@R.Daneel Күн бұрын
@@IfThenCreate And to add to that - ammo doesn't weigh anything since you wisely didn't choose 'hardcore' mode when you left the doctor's office at the beginning. So feel free to horde it if you want. Later on you can check in your PIPboy and see that you've got "tonnes of such-and-such ammo" and keep an eye out for a gun that uses it.

Yay part 3! What I do to manage inventory weight is that as soon as I get a gun or outfit that matches what i use, if i don't plan on selling it, i use it to repair my equipment. that way, i don't have to worry about things breaking mid-fight (most of the time lol), or not being able to pick up something I want because I'm carrying too much. There's a couple safe places to store stuff where items don't despawn, I could mention the easiest to get to -- I never know what counts as backseat gaming and what counts as spoilers so, to err on the side of caution, I'm gonna put the location a bit further down after this. .. .. .. .. .. go to novac, rent a room. the room you're given has multiple containers to store your things in that you don't have to worry about despawing! and you're basically given that room forever, so no worries about multiple rental costs. there's also some fun quests you get within novac!!

theirs no right or wrong answer on settlement building, i always say you do you and don't let anybody tell you that you're doing something wrong. nothing wrong with listening to advice and tips, but at the end of the day, you have to live with the end result. she setup a beacan right away, i don't normally do that myself, but that's fine if someone wants to. the only reason i don't is because, people can get in your way while your working. so if you wanna hold off on setting up a radio recruitment beacan you can, but if it doesn't bother you it's whatever to me. Red Rocket is a fun little place you can make what you want out of it, if i had one complaint about it. trying to build inside requires some work around, since the surface level is not even, and you can't scrap things like dirt and debris which i wish you could. so you have to build outside away from the main building, of course i scrap everything in the backroom, to throw a bed in, and then i rearrange the workbench area, i usually keep the armor bench though, because i do use Red Rocket quite often for upgrades, if i don't feel like going all the way back to Sanctuary. in my game i turned Red Rocket into a trade hub, since it was a gas station as you can tell by the broken gas pumps that no longer work. so that's what i turned the inside into, but i removed the fusion core in the T-45 power armor so nobody gets into it.

Settlements don't take up much of my game - so long as folk have food and a bed, I'll leave them to it. Hangman's Alley is handy though - near to Diamond City, and on trade routes. But... last two playthroughs, the place became infested with brahmins! There's a brahmin that gets stuck on the roof in Sanctuary, but you can fix that by giving it some stairs to get down. Wish there was a fix for the plague of brahmins in Hangman's Alley!
