Hey, enjoyed the video🙌! I'm not really sure if it is the best time to ask but, I was wondering if I could help you create a better distribution by working on post-production like better storytelling through Edits, Keywords, think catchy intros and outros, or even some engaging short clips! Would love to chat if you're interested.

Someone either doesn't know how to use a camera, or is in this American 'privacy' trip of social isolation by hiding the fellow ringers. This is NOT the goal of the ringing community -- privacy! There is a time in life for privacy JUST AS there is ALSO a time in life for PUBLIC social ability and interaction. Bellringing is the LATTER! COMMUNITY, NOT ISOLATION! It is a worldwide community and as there is a SHORTAGE of ringers, social action is paramount for this exercis survival! I have seen countless videos on ringing (as well partaken in the exercise as well) and there really is no room for this hiding people and fellow ringers. Either that you are not watching what you video, you have to point the camera as to include the action not have the camera almost pointing to the ceiling. Many people taking videos thinking it is 'impolite' to show other people. This is dogma as to promote social isolation and fear (agoraphobia). We are usually trying to recruit new ringers and it is paramount to show how it is done. Can't do that if most of the action is hidden! From my experience the vast majority of my ringing peers LOVE to be shown and take great PRIDE in the accomplishments of good ringing. Most would WANT to be seen! Not hidden. Thank you!
@user-ci2sh2ym5iАй бұрын
Being a ringer myself, I am really appalled! Never in years of watching other ringers on KZbin show only the one doing the taping, and BLOTING out the face of a fellow ringer! Usually worldwide, campanology (change ringing) is a COMMUNITY and a SOCIAL exercise! Especially in the UK the birth home of this art, to actually BLOT OUT a face of an adjacent ringer!? REALLY!? This is NOT in someone's private home, but in a PUBLIC SPACE, like a church, town hall, or a stand alone tower like Basildon in London, the Manchester town hall, or indeed in Perth Australia the Swan bells (BTW both the Swan Bells and Basildon are GLASS towers so the public at large can SEE IN! We are ALWAYS looking for new ringers, to teach them to become proficient ringers. To HIDE faces, this is an AMERICAN trait as it was started there of hiding facial identities. A form of subtle indoctrination of promoting social isolation and loneliness which is VERY unhealthy. Also you failed to show the other ringers, as not showing the ringing chamber as well. One should take great PRIDE in ringing and not shame, by hiding faces, but to WANT to be seen by the viewers, I know as a ringer that I would!

@@user-ci2sh2ym5i The tower captain left comments demanding I blot out the others’ faces. Not much I can do about that, it is not a case of only wanting to show myself. Thanks for the rant.
@ProfMooseАй бұрын
Three points - 1 A church is not a public place. It is a private place open to the public at the discretion of those appointed for its care. 2 Basildon is not a secular tower. It belongs to the church of St Martin of Tours. 3 As a private place a visitor can only make video or other recording within its boundaries with the permission of the person in authority and any individual has the right to request that their image not be published ie. shared in the public domain.

I remember seeing the peel of bells in action twenty years ago…and then climbing higher within the tower to see the 10 stationary bells…., higher still to see the clocks and eventually all the way to the interior tip of the steeple….what a thrill that was. St. James’ Cathedral is -overall- my favourite church building in Canada.

This church looks like a castle. Were there ever cannons on top of that Tower?

No, the crennelations are purely decorative. However some older Saxon churches were indeed fortified. And also many churches in France were also fortified as well, one notable example being Albi Cathedral.

This definitely counts as physical exercise. Do regular ringers get shoulder problems?
@dublineamo6 ай бұрын
Some older ringers I know have shoulder pain. I don't think it is from ringing. They had physical demanding jobs. Sometimes climbing the stairs to the ringing chamber is more difficult for older ringers. They all enjoy the ringing.
@RingerJake6 ай бұрын
If you handle the bell weirdly or pull too hard it can hurt your shoulders a bit. I’ve just found if I ring too much I get tough skin and that’s it.
