What do you mean by "focusing on lat engagement, forcing the lats to work even harder when im pressing so that will help me improve" ? Is the lat stabilizing when pushing or does it help to push when you flare it(the lat itself).

And then we have Matt Wenning saying retarded stuff like that bench is primarily tricep movement and that you should press with narrow grip

Couldn't DISAGREE more,, by forcing my knees out i CAN hit depth AND use more muscle mass over the longest MOST EFFECTIVE range of motion.

Really interesting tips, how would you programme these into a routine that fixes hip shift?

I think i've seen around 50% of all videos about scapula retraction, and even arguments to not do it. This is by far the best overall video i've come across, easily. Thanks alot!

What about if your toes come off the floor? Is that caused by using too much hips?

Terrible cue, this shows complete lack of understanding of the human anatomy, DO NOT PULL SCAP BACK AND DOWN EVER

Hi Adam, where is that video in which you taught us how to do a supinated grip for deadlifts? You numbered your fingers etc. Could you share the link here? I can't find it. :(

if we keep forceful retraction during the concentric, does that engage less or more of the rotator cuff on the concentric? And shouldn't the bench be in a j path arc?

Good info. When squatting, i tried to descent slowly to feel the ‘mid foot’ cue. Unfortunately, difficult to know if did right or wrong since no one in my gym a low bar squatter.

At the begining he pressed such a short distance, and a time will come they will move the weight a quarter of an inch.

Amazing video!! You just sorted my bench press!! I always used to over retract and as a result would always end up with a crooked bar alignment and stiff neck!! Thank you for a great demonstration 💪

I thought I was the only one who's traps engage during bench press. The front of my traps look great though.

Thanks. Golden info. Grip is something ignored by most tutorials done by big youtube channels - it's crazy. I struggled with bench for years due to wrong grip which forced the elbows to tuck in instead of flare out during the concentric. Glad you guys talked about it. You guys deserve more subs.

thank god for this video man, ive been benching for a while and all these other powerlifitng videos are like: "hurr durr you gotta bench with a closer grip to stack your biceps onto your lats" while a trex arms 185cm dood with like 130kg bw is demonstrating it, im sitting here at 173cm and ape arms trying to figure out what they are talking about

Interesting I couldn't feel my quads at start because I was "wedging" but aren't you suppose to use your hips as a "wedge/fulcrum" which is the benefit of sumo? This is also what Chris Duffin and Stefi Cohen mention that use your hips as a fulcrum of a jack. Otherwise if you push out first to engage the quads, it just feels like a wide conventional deadlift and more so your creating a lever arm that you must overcome by back/hip extension after the "push" because your hips still remain back as seen from that exercise. At least this is what I felt when I tried and what I think. I did feel my quads that way though haha. Great video nonetheless and subbed!
