My 1845 is leaking out of lever control shaft is there not an external seal on them? Wondering if had to pull the pump to fix? Thanks and great machines love em, tough as nails

@johohojo8548 The seal is kind of external in so far as you don't have to remove the pump. Messicks is a good source for schematics on these machines (link below ⬇️⬇️) 1845 www.messicks.com/cas/140810 You're right. These machines are tough. 😎

Another great video! Mic working good. And damn I'm jealous you got the auxiliary hydro option, I'm gonna have to look into a conversion so I can use my grapple bucket. I had to "rebuild" my roosa master (stanadyne) pump once there pretty simple, seal kit and govern plate upgrade from the plastic ones

I bet your machine had a bad drive coupling between the engine and pump assembly at some point in it's life, causing excessive thrust on that washer. I have an 1845 and just replaced my drive coupling 4 years ago $485. Now the little seal on the side of the pump for the control shaft is leaking pretty bad, hoping I can do it in the machine??? Great video's keep it up!
@DurtyMaxDee
@DurtyMaxDee Ай бұрын
@johohojo8548 You're probably right on the coupling. That seal on the side of the pump was easy to change in the machine once you get the snap ring out. I did all of them (both sides) on mine in the machine. Glad to help 😎

Chain suspension is awful. The chains get tangled and it causes the steps seen in the first minute of the video. Also, the deck swings out if you take a curve too fast and causes steps. Also, mowing on the side of steep hills can cause steps.

I have a 52 inch 2004 commercial zmaster. Deck is way out of adjustment. Thanks for the content! Also, tires all have same air pressure, yet the front right tire always wants to spin, almost as if the chassis is bent or warped. Where you suggest I start on that repair? Bearings are good, same amount of washers....
@DurtyMaxDee
@DurtyMaxDee Ай бұрын
@jessecrews That's a good question 🤔 the frames on these mowers are pretty stout, so I would have a hard time believing it's bent. Possible? I guess if it was dropped or wheelied a lot. The first thing I would check is the rear drive motor on the left side, opposite the floating front wheel, making sure it's not loose and it's in its proper location relative to the frame. Look at both drive motors for a comparison. Next, I would check, on a level surface, frame height to ground comparing left side to right side both front and rear. Measurements should be the same, front right and left, rear right and left. If they're not the same, the frame is most likely bent. Straightening would be a tough task at best. If everything in the rear is good and measures the same, the "hack" would be to shim the right caster down the amount you've measured it to be out of wack, then level the deck as needed. Good luck, hope this helps.

Those fittings you used are field attachables, they dont last nearly as long as crimped on fittings. You should consider replacing the entire line at some point down the road

@chuckdouglas8017 Field attachable, name checks out. 👍 I understand these are a "temporary" solution, but in this case, they'll be good for years to come. If it were on something that would be used daily, hourly, or every minute, a new line would definitely be required. YMMV

There might or might not be something going in the pumps. These older machines naturally have loud hydraulics compared to current machines. I've posted a video "Case does some work" and you can clearly hear it whining in parts of that video. Best advice... change hydraulic fluid and filters and keep an ear on it. I have been doing the same thing on an 1845, sure learned a lot of what not to do. I suggest anyone attempting to do this is the following: remove the bucket if possible, all 4 wheels, boom up and secure, remove lower side panels for easier access to some parts. I will leave them off for a while to check for leaks etc. the fellow suggested the colored snap ties, great idea.
