Thank you so much for posting this up. I was spectating at this rally, i really miss the buzz we had back then. And not forgetting the late great Richard Burns. Taken way too soon, can't believe it's nearly 20 years since he passed. Thanks for the memories.

A great era and Leigh Diffey top commentator. Used to listen to him doing V8 Supercars downunder

Carlos Sainz already had to endure the horrors of group b. Hitting spectators never feels good.

I was at Brechfa with my dad, my mum was back at home and heard the news on the radio. Immediately tried to ring my dad to check we were okay, she’d heard there were children involved and I was only 6 at the time. But no phone signal in 2001 so she spent the afternoon panicking! Naturally I was fine, we had arrived at the stage to see everyone walking in the other direction, out of the forests and I was disappointed not to get to see another stage that day.

I remember a time when I asked if you had 2001/2002 videos and you told me to go buy the DVDs 😂 Interesting how some of the music used here is the same as what Channel 4 used for their first WRC feature.
@VHSRalliesКүн бұрын
I'd still recommend people buy the DVDs. Not about to upload a string of 2001/2002 reports. But the BBC coverage in 01 was pretty special and my final batch of tapes contained the full collection, so...

Outstanding coverage in the greatest era of cars - 1997-2002. Look how many manufacturers were there. And Mark James is the voice of rally so far as I'm concerned.
