@imikalfunangongo8 күн бұрын
@@tommyw68 I would like to buy a custom Wright-built knife. I'm an art collector, thus, both the artist and craftsmanship are of singular importance. 1. 15 inch lock-blade is a solid start, but... 2. I prefer an exotic wood handle, finished with a scorpion inlay (as seen in prior video). 3. All other features presented in this video are spot-on, i.e. locking, trigger, blade machining, laser etching, etc. However.... 4. I'm an ocean sailor. Thus the materials must be salt water resistant. Is all of this possible and affordable? What is the cost for custom work? How do we communicate without disclosing my address to the world?
@tommyw684 күн бұрын
@imikalfunangongo this knife is customized based on an existing knife. If you are looking for a scratch-built custom, that is a different animal and absolutely can be done, but they can get costly. My only concern is that if you plan on using this in or around salt water, stainless is a must. I work primarily in high carbon and damascus steel. Not exactly salt water friendly. If you wish to discussmatters more my email is [email protected].

Thomas, Just subscribed. I'm an art collector who admires and embraces elegance in fine detail. I'm an ocean sailor too, so a blade crafted with metals resistant to salt water corrosion is of paramount interest. Your Gila monster inlay captured my eye. I'm new to this digital stuff so I apologize for my blunders.... how do I correspond?
A beautiful tribute to a great friend by another great friend! Tom, you are one of my favorite human beings, crazy talented, smart and a whole lotta fun!

Yes, I am very interested in your switchblades! I ewally love then! Sorry, Meant to reply to your message to me but I couldn't find your message again to reply 😓! So I have been searching through all the switchblade video;s until I finally found you, hey! Yrs I would love all the info on and where I can buy them. I also have one that needs to be adjusted or fixed, I keep it closed and in the plastic sleeve it came with because it's a REALLY PISSED OFF BLADE! If you dare to get too close to it or even look at it wrong, BAM! That blade will jump out and try to get ya! The only thing stopping me from taking it apart is I don't know what size brass pin rod to get to re-ping everything back together with! I would really love to get or build an otf blade just like G&G Hawk makes, yes, those are very nice! They are the only one that makes an OTF knife with absolutely No blade play what so ever! Solid as a though tang blade when the blade pops out! Lol. Please give me more info and your Facebook page too! Thank you.

I had a question about the steel used in these knives. What size billet should I be using in a 9in stiletto?
@tommyw686 ай бұрын
I would assume that's a 2.5 -3mm thick blade so figure you would need at least .125 thick x 1" x 5" just to be safe. You will loose some thickness from mill scale.

Nice, very nice. Could u say that the humpback is like a backlock knife, but with a short backspring ? I m thinking about making one my self

Not really. The backspacer is just in tow parts where the upper part pivots against a second spring under the kickspring.

Been 10 years, did you have plans, when you making it, I have a 28x28 x12 double walled cab that has been completed, not sure where to go from here? Thanks Rik
@tommyw684 ай бұрын
No plans. Just kind of made it on the fly. Since it's a convertible open back, internal spane is not crucial. You really only need to worry about volume with closed subs and big woofers that are ported.

Seriously love the work. I have been a big collector of these knives. I have some cheap ones and what I like to say good ones. I have 8 of these made by Frank B I’m considering getting one from Latama soon. I would really like to see what a costume one from you would be. Latama would definitely be my grail. I’m turning 60 in January and I would love to see you get hired by Latama. I went on the website and show there no longer doing them and I did some research and the gentleman passed away. I love what you’re doing and also just wanted to say thank you for keeping these awesome knives alive. Kinda not sure about the red dot they are putting on them but understand why.

Yes, Tank passed a couple months ago. I'm already doing some new customs for Latama.
@Bulldogshaw16 ай бұрын
I did get one from them on their website. It sadly wasn’t new looking has scratches where the safety level is. Was kinda disappointed. Sent them pictures and they offered me a replacement if I sent it back. Long story short I’m just not satisfied with the quality and or the quality control. 😢 I should have just waited to get my dream knife. Especially since now you are customizing them that I would’ve known it would’ve been perfect

Love the jewel as the button! Absolutely gorgeous knife! I collect switchblade knives. Where can I get a swinguard with a diamond button release or lock?
@tommyw686 ай бұрын
That one is a lapis button. A diamond could be put in but I would suggest white sapphire or moissanite just in case. Putting in a gemstone wouldn't be that difficult if you really want one but they are usually epoxied in so you would loose some of the reflective quality. The only alternative would be to solder a silver stone setting into the button which can also be done.

Tommy, I am having a problem emailing you the stiletto pictures. I need a good email address, thks
Nice work right there. Maybe it's just me but I'm not into jewelled buttons..the maltese safety i can love but colorful buttons just don't hit my switch,pun intended. Like, I've got an east coast sniper 15" aga,customised with firework and blue acrylic but it has a big ol' skull as a button which makes it look bad ass, imo anyway.💀 But yeah,custom latamas then,ok, beautiful work right there! Not sure if you binned some premo Brazilian horn in the process but that could always be used for another project. Now, how a about a custom fileworked aga Campolin black widow??🤔 Those things are big bad ass mf'n beast wasps and they have zero bladeplay..fat,strong and no brass.. that's what I'd make or have made as long as the finished product bettered the original. 🤟🏻 Anyway, cool vid, no you don't suck and show us some more cool stuff! Fricken metal dude!! Reach the plp havlin heights of mount olympus or something like that..😄🔥🤜⚔️🤛

Nice. Big fan of the synthetic ivory. I like my stilettos sleek and under stated. Would like to see some earless picklocks that tend towards ice pick in their narrowness and slighly squarer body/scales than the typical shapely stiletto body. Also a big fan of flat faced round buttons. Priolettos and Frosolones as well. Holllow ground dagger blades ala Panak get extra points.

I'm a fan of Paul's work too. Have two of his knives. This is one of those jobs where I do what I'm told. What I like takes a back seat to what Latama asked for. :)
