To add insult to injury Porsche are fleecing people whom desire any GT series by adding 50/75/100/125k overs just to help them subsidise the crap EV models… 😡

All of us who love 6 cylinder Porsches should advocate for the true revolution in transport - trains. An intercity train can carry, in an hour, 10 times more passengers than a 6-lane motorway at full capacity. Freight should move to rail too. The electric car is a disaster in environmental terms, in egalitarian terms and is pointless for those without home charging (possibly 50% of the UK). A progressive very significant move to public transport for commuting and for freight would allow safer and more enjoyable car use too.

You are making it so much more difficult than it needs to be. I've owned both auto and manual 928s, it does not require counting. Just shift to the next gear like any manual.

Reality has caught up to Porsche though and they have backed out on their pseudomoralizing, green social credit bilge. They need a CEO that loves Porsche and loves the soul of actual Germans.

Lots of FUD here. Plus your arguments actually work in favor of a Cayman EV: 1) balance: EVs are supremely balanced, even moreso than a mid engine flat 6. 2) quirkiness: unaffected by being an EV. 3) size/weight: Yes batteries are heavy, but it's Porsche, the world's best engineers, and will address this. Lastly, they have to evolve and wouldn't dare take the risk on the 911. It only makes sense to push into the future and take risks on the Cayman. Give Porsche the benefit of the doubt here. They have always made timeless sports cars and always will.

This is perfection for a restomod adds enough modern touch and flair to a classic but doesn't deviate from the original keeps all the great things about the original and improves it's design overall what a beautiful car. I always loved the 928 it's the only car at the time produced that Porsche built from scratch

I installed 24.5 m at rear (bolted) and 6 mm at front (plate). They look great and just a subtle difference at front. As mentioned in comments, 21 mm factory spacers were installed for a small period of time, also the GT had 60 mm offset at both front and back.

Hey Jay, Nice video thanks. One suggestion for you. If you like the manhole style wheel search out a pair of later S4 rears as they have a slight dish /rim so look more aggressive but are the same style as you have. Also work on the same offset so your spacers still work. Cheers and happy new year.

Always loved the 928 since I first saw one in the early 80s. Have driven a few over the years. One hell of a beautiful car. Always wanted one and came close to buying several but never went through with it. While I thought they were pretty quick back in the early to mid 80s. After test driving them when they were still on the higher end car lots back then. I was in my 20s then. Compared to today they are still a work of art and beauty but severely underpowered. Having owned several big cubic inch muscle cars over the years and still have one today. I love strong power by todays hp standards. I would have to do a modern engine conversion on one to be happy with it. The 928 needs to run as good as it looks. Their 4.5 to 5.4 litre Porsche V8 in my opinion is completely inadequate for power output. With a restomod 928 you eliminate a lot of the typical problems with them. I saw one tastefully done with a fuel injected Chevy LS 6.0 that produced 490 hp at the wheels. That’s over 600 flywheel hp. Had a stand alone Holley Terminator X running the engine management system. Car had vintage air on it. Super nice and it had a super quiet exhaust. I would have to go that route definitely.
@JAYREAD9 күн бұрын
I completely disagree. Whilst the early US cars were starved of power, the later ones have plenty to be faster than most cars on the road. Of course, your money, you do what you like and I salute your passion but that’s a lot of expense and effort for something which is fine really! Each to their own though. Just my opinion which is practically worthless, I know!

So, Porsche says the Macan will retain 70% of its battery capacity through 8 years. Isn't that the same as saying the battery will lose 30% of its capacity after only 8 years? Who would buy a used one?

I have similar stories with my 928. I have a love/ hate relationship with it. One minute I want to drive it and drive it and sometimes I want to burn it. As a 928 specialist said to me many years ago at the beginning of my 928 nervous breakdown or breakdowns, an old 928 will always fight back to the bitter end. Until your wallet is empty. Still a wonderful car, when it's working!

Reliable is an absolute must. There are some really awful ones out there and they are really a waste of money! Also picture quality is my number 1 priority. I want to be able to read license plates from the clips. A rear camera is also a must but I can forgive slightly worse quality with that. I once had a Nexbase 622GW and returned it. Why did I return it? The picture quality was absolute rubbish! I know it was advertised as a 4K camera but I buy a camera like that hoping for amazing picture quality. I absolutely did not get good picture quality from that piece of 💩! If you buy one of those and you find it hard to remove because of the double sided tape they use get some dental floss and floss a corner of it at the glass and peel the it back in the direction you pulled the floss. Don't try to floss it off the whole way, it is not necessary and you may frustrate yourself. It comes off really easy just starting a corner with the floss. Unless you do this you will not get it off easily. That mounting tape is really strong stuff!! I imagine most of use have some dental floss, right? If not it is not expensive so keep a roll on hand! Your dentist may have even given you some in those bags they give to you before you pay and head home.

They really are. I just can’t see it working for most of their existing customer base for sports cars. A stark comparison would be the new Dodge Challenger. Going from a Hellcat to an EV isn’t very credible and is tantamount to starting again.
