You hit the nail on the head, compared to Aston, Ferrari et al the Porsche isn't an expensive car. Remember one mans buckets is another mans 18 way adjustable seats. You build the 911 you want and it's still cheaper than the alternatives by some margin.
@markallen2984Ай бұрын
@@jeremybarker672 That is true as far as it goes, but sighting an Aston or a Ferrari is by far a more special experience.... I live in Los Angeles where you can see a 911 at virtually every 7-Eleven

I have a base 911 with the same performance. If I were going to pay extra for a T, I would rather pay a little more and get the S. Nice video.

I remember when Porsches were truly a good value. If I were to buy a new 911, I’d get very few options. When I checked earlier this year, the dealer in Greenville said there was a 4 or 5 year wait. Seriously? I’d probably go used anyway.
@carfan3762Ай бұрын
Yes, I know (being a Porsche client), it’s simply horrendous. Trouble is, is you want a new 911 (whichever one) and you want it to your liking, the extra cost would enable you, in another circumstance, to buy a new Golf GTI. Porsche knows this but also knows that, as the saying goes, Noboy needs a 911 but everybody wants one. And here we are 😅🤷🏻♂️

All a question of perspective! 100% agree with you.

My daughter's Mini Cooper includes many of those amenities without paying a kidney for these. Porsche is becoming the new Ferrari, expensive, no allocations unless you buy 100 cars from them, and prices that require you to be the Prince of Wales to afford. As long as people like us keep on buying, we are cooked. I wish a 911 buyer from the 1980s were to see this. They would be baffled by the customisation's expenses that has NOTHING to do with performance. And I understand there has been inflation, but this is madness. Ridiculous.

The new T is definitely the pick of the range like you said. Still, I’m just generally not all that keen on the 992 generation of 911s. I just find them too large and bulky in comparison to previous generations, which were also prettier than the current range. If I were buying, I’d save myself some dough and go for a relatively low mileage 991 generation at the newest. One thing I do really like about the 992 though, is the interior design. Which I think is the strongest of any generation of 911.

Stop complaining about the cost. The car is the best car at what it does in its price range - and the most iconic. What else would you buy that does what it does. You don’t HAVE to tick the boxes…and you still get the full 911. I got a 992.1 T - magnificent car. Can’t think of another car within its price range I’d rather have…and not really any at twice its cost either.

I think it’s “jen-tee-ann” blue, but you get some slack because of your British accent. 😆 Great review though, and I’ve watched a few. Yours was a nice honest assessment. Thank you for that. One of the best so far. The cool things about the T, outside of its engine/suspension/performance specs, are the throwback wood shift knob and the black plaid seat inserts. They make the T truly unique. The good news is that you can add both of those visual cues to just about any Porsche. I’ve previously had a guy in Mexico City make almost the exact same shifter. I’m sure a black plaid material is available in automotive upholstery circles. You can also get large black/black Pepita houndstooth from Relicate for a similar interior vibe. Keep up the great work, Jay!

Really great info. The used Porsche market has imho even better value for money than new, the monetization options are indeed a bit mad, I'm sure the cars are brilliant, and I'm still looking forward greatly to my restored 928 S4! I own a 992.1 T and I agree with everything you point out about Porsche monetizing everything. Mine was supposed to come with a light weight battery and did not because they stopped fitting them in the T. When I complained and asked for some money back they looked at me like I was insane. Obviously does not work both ways. Porsche knows how to add, not subtract.

Just get an older generation. They are less than 6 digits and more fun to drive. Unless you want to be the cool kid with the newest flashy toy. I see 3 kinds of owners in my PCA club. People who street/tour drive. People that stare at their cars in the garage and bring them out to car shows. And people who drive the shit out of them at autocross/hpde events. It’s amazing how many 996’s are driven hard at autocrosses with huge smiles on owners faces.

Not surprising. They're obviously in it for the money.. They are a business eg making you pay a premium on top of the MARK and options.... For GT3 cars.... Wick you can only get an allocation if you have owned 4911s... For a car must will drive no different than a Prius.... And below average Surrey driving ability.... Most have no on track competitively race driving training or experiences.. So they don't know how to"take their cars Anywhere near their limits"... Many don't understand this...
@markallen2984Ай бұрын
The Carrera T. is just away for Porsche to squeeze out more money from Customers. Instead of making a manual transmission available on the base model You must pay an additional $14,000 in the US for the T. Let's not kill ourselves despite the Small weight reduction in the thin glass, the Carrera T is still not a sports car it remsins a grand tourer. I like the idea of a Carrera with a manual transmission and cloth seats butbut a $14,000 up charge is obscene.

I am a 992.1 T owner and I testify that this weight reduction is just negligible and unpractical marketing flimflam. Ut to replace a dead battery or broken window will seriously hurt you financially.
