I loved the first two books of Heartstopper. It was just so cute and they made me smile ❤ However, the third book became too ‘realistic’ for me with problems like an eating disorder. And while it is good to talk about it, especially for younger people, it is not what I’m looking for in a book as a 30 year old ☺️

I do not -for the life of me- get why Ruthless Vows has such a bad rep. It isn't as earth-shatteringly amazing as Divine Rivals but it was still such a good read (I think 4.5 for me). I don't know if people don't like the ending or maybe Roman's POV but I honestly still loved it almost as much as part 1. Also - I don't know if I said it in another comment before but since you like Rebecca Ross' writing - I can only recommend 'What the River Knows' by Isabel Ibanez and the prequel 'Where the Library Hides'. It might actually be dedicated to Rebecca Ross or she recommended it somewhere... Anyway, it is set in Egypt in 1884 and felt like a mixture between Death on the Nile, The Mummy and Romancing the Stone (Jagd nach dem Grünen Juwel - a movie I watched with my parents like a million times). I loved it so much, her writing felt so magical and the pacing was so good, I couldn't put it down, AND THE CLIFFHANGER IN THE EPLOUE!!! Another plus: the second part of the duology was just published in November <3

Yeah I guess that the first one set very high expectations and I see why people were disappointed but I just didn't take it so hard and enjoyed the book for what it is 😄 I've never heard of the books before but they sound so interesting! Thank you for your recommendations!! The book with the setting in Egypt in 1884 has me really intrigued 😍

@Vivsbooks this might be a real problem, I adjusted my expectations accordingly and enjoyed it a lot. I also love dual perspectives so it was a plus to have more insight into Roman's mind. And absolutely go and read it, it's such a good book and I feel like it's not being talked about enough 😍

Great Pick of Books BTW. Wuthering Heights has also been on my bookshelf for literal years 😂😂 My TBR for the rest of the year: Good Girls Guide to Murder series, Games Untold by Jennifee Lynn Barnes, The Maid by Nita Prose (but I'm also still waiting for the Mystery Guest to arrive), Red Rising and prequels and about 50 other books on the TBR shelf 😅😂
@Vivsbooks4 күн бұрын
I literally just bought The Atlas Six and I’m so intrigued (I have been for years)! I hope I’ll get to it this month-it feels like the perfect book for this time of year. I totally understand why you’d want to wait for the final book in the right size, though! 😂 And thank you! As I mentioned at the beginning, I didn’t put too much thought into the 24 books I want to read in 2024, but I still think it’s a great list. It’s definitely ambitious, though-two classics?? Who am I? 😂 But I really want to read some of these iconic classics because I hate not getting the references whenever they’re mentioned. 😂 You have a very ambitious TBR for the rest of the year too, with some great books! I think starting with Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a great choice-her books are so easy to fly through. I just read The Naturals, which is one of the 24 books on my TBR list. The only problem? Now I want to binge the whole series, but I really should be reading other books. 😂
@hej.anneli4 күн бұрын
@Vivsbooks I've actually bought the Atlas Six because I liked the cover so much and I didn't know anything about it - not even that it it was a series 🤭😂 I only found out when the prequel showed up on Thalia as a recommendation. By the time, I'd ordered that, The Atlas Complex had been published but only in the larger format. I'd also prefer the red to the blue (I'm very particlular when it comes to some choices) - always a rat's tail with the book. I was the same about my 2024 tbr. I had loads of unread books on my shelf and basically got back into reading during the end of last year so my goal was 25 books in total. Mainly because I'd read 26 books in 2023 and didn't want to put any pressure on myself to read that much more - might have forgotten to calculate that I didn't read for half the year. I'm currently on book 51 for this year and had a big slump in August but I'm so proud of myself 🤭❤️ And yes, very ambitious indeed (And discovering medimops did not help hahaha). But so is yours! Even though I'd be happy to get through one TBR cart shelf till the new year - which would be more realistic. I love JLB - I've read 4(?) books from the Inheritance Games series and I loved them so much. I haven't bought the Naturalists yet but I've heard they might be even better. But Holly Jackson first, I don't know if you've read the Good Guide Girl to Murder series (only just subscribed and watched one other video - sorry 🤭) but I'm a sucker for mixed media books and love it so much already. Edit: I just finished the rest of the video after work and I am usually not a Christmas story reader but I am intrigued by "Death Comes at Christmas". I've read a collaborative novel (Fourteen Days by various different American writers) about the pandemic and even though it wasn't an extraordinary read, I loved having the chance to sneak a peek into various authors' styles and stories. Some of the authors were quite well known and it was interesting to guess who wrote what - I did guess Celeste Ng, Dave Eggers and Margaret Atwood correctly 😂 The Christmas one seems to include primarily British authors even though I must admit I've only ever read Helen Fields (IF she is the author of Bridget Jones' Diary 🙈)

Hiii @@hej.anneli always happy to see your comment (and I love that we use both languages 😂). Sorry if I don't always reply immediately :) Haha I actually hate when I buy a book of a series unknowingly, because series seriously stress me at this point 😂. 51 books is amazing!!! I think really any amount of books is great as long as you enjoy reading! A couple of years ago I read around 12 books a year and felt super accomplished. It;s really never about the numbers :)💜

@@Vivsbooks hiiii back. I love when your old(er) videos pop up on my feed or you post something new. Best thing to listen to on my way to work or back 😍 I feel like any amount of books is a great achievement since I didn't read at all after I finished my bachelor's degree in English Literary Studies. I couldn't look at a book without full on analysing every single sentence hahaha and now I'm enjoying reading so much. I absolutely live series but I've made a habit of looking into books before I commit to a longer series because I liked to read them in order and I hate to wait for sequels. I'm also not the biggest fan of reading more than one book at a time - I only did it with the collaborative novel last month (1 story a day) and will probably do it with a couple of other books that are story collections. And don't worry about replying, I alwahs smile when your notification pops up and try to answer as soon as possible because I tend to forget replying when I don't do it straight away 🤭❤️

I did a mega unhaul a couple years back when I moved cities and moved into an attic studio with barely any storage space. When I found a new flat with a built in bookshelf last year, I started rebuilding my library but try to donate the books I've read and didn't like to libraries, put them on free bookshelves or sell them when I can. I only keep the ones I really love and deluded myself into thinking I would read them again. I have also updated book series to be in the same layout, format, medium etc. - I just to have paperback mixed in with hardcover but try to stay within one design and size. edit: Hahahaja dein Video war bei meinen Empfehlungen & ich hab kommentiert bevor ich richtig angefangen hab zu schaue. Sending lots of love <3

Hoffe du bleibst für eine Weile, sending lot's of love back! 💜

Furchtbar!
@VivsbooksКүн бұрын
@hej.anneli19 сағат бұрын

I am outing myself here saying that I am one of those people that think that enemies to lovers isn't really romance trope BUT I respect everyone who feels otherwise, because that is just how I feel about that trope. And it was really interesting to watch this video to see how different people can view a book. My reason for my opinion is that I go by feeling and maybe the word "enemy" in my head is too associated with some definitions of that word when it is about "harming the other since they are the enemy". So my opinion is solely based on that feeling since I didn't get this particular feeling I have for "enemies to lovers trope" in any romance book so far. I've read some of the books in your video and for me they were all more on the "hater/rival to lovers" side. But like I said I can totally get how others can see this trope differently and in a romance genre as well. Edit: And since you mentioned Dark Romance in the beginning of your video. My comment above is solely for pure romance books since I don't read any DR. If I would I can imagine that I would feel the enemies to lovers trope there as well just based on the topics and plots some of these books have.
@Vivsbooks23 күн бұрын
Hii, first of all thank you for your input, so interesting - I love these conversations! And I totally get why a lot of people share that view and I do understand it! The "enemy" element in contemporary romance is definitely more a Hate/dislike - to love thing. To me it's more about the vibes of the romance and I don't really differentiate between hate-to-love and enemies-to-lovers trope. It's just when I didn't read fantasy but still loved romances with an enemies-to-lovers trope and people said that wasn't a thing I felt like it wasn't fair because I only read romances and not fantasy so people saying I never actually read my favorite trope just annoyed me. 😂 Now that I read fantasy I do get where they come from but I don't expect every romance reader to start reading fantasy only to enjoy the "real" enemies-to-lovers trope if that makes sense? That's why I wanted to dedicate a video with that trope (or that kinda vibe) for only romances. :)
@chapterpalette20 күн бұрын
@@Vivsbooks I also love those kinds of conversations and yes I think it really depends on peoples feelings and how they experience a story and their preferred/most read genre. Like you just said that you feel it based on vibes, I don't feel it based on other vibes I only experience in Fantasy. And honestly it would be weird for me to say that I want/looking for enemies to lovers in a romance book when my own definition is basically that they want to k*ll each other haha. What a plottwist that would be.😂😂
@Vivsbooks16 күн бұрын
