You’ve had so many marvelous marinas along your journey. That was so nice of the marina to let you use their courtesy vehicle. We have an obsolete IntelliLan on our Fleming as well. My dome seems smaller than yours and I understand it was for TV. Maybe I’ll remove mine as it will only get harder to do over time. Docks were taken up for winter! OMG, Ice, what is that? 😄 Nice to see the kitties get a walk.

I’ve boated in Canada’s Trent Severn waterway and spoke to many loopers on the way through. Many say it’s the Trent Severn through to and including Georgian Bay that’s their favourite leg of the loop. In this area, a 40-45’ boat is much better in the locks, at Marinas and even anchored with others which I hope happens for you… Most marinas in the area have no space for 60’ boats. I had a 40’Carver with twin diesels, with much less draft and was still churning up bottom and couldn’t plane in some areas (my boat needed more than 6’ to get on plane… Also, in most of the Trent your boat on plane would swamp other boats and docks… Take a look at a 420 Carver SS sedan bridge… or even the 396/444 motor yacht with diesels… the 420 has the lines you appear to like, a fabulous flybridge, room for your aft table… just sharing from experience in the area… hope you have a great trip…

The fun of traveling (virtually) with the Boomershines continues! I love sightseeing on the Hudson while sitting here in my PJs and not having to handle a single dockline or stress over wind. 😂 It’s true that we ‘up north’ boaters have to go through a lot to haul out in the fall and launch/commission in the spring, but there are lots of benefits: The boat is covered and protected for half the year, we have several months of ‘down time’ where we can tackle a long list of boat projects, we can pause the Starlink subscription for 6 or 7 months (big $aving$!), and we can start off the next season with renewed enthusiasm and excitement. So, the juice is worth the squeeze. 👍

Did Mark find out what was wrong with the stern thruster? BTW Cinda, you are hilarious!
@TheBoomershines3 күн бұрын
Thanks for asking! It turns out when inspected from inside the boat at the transom I could see the problem. The thruster itself is basically just a semi truck starter motor with the polarity determining if the motor turns left or right. The actual cast casing of the whole unit was cracked. The thruster still worked but out of caution we stopped using it. Truly SeaSHINE was so powerful with huge rudders the rear thruster wasn’t needed. I learned to walk her side ways just by splitting throttles and modulating the front thruster. ⚓️Mark

So if Cinda was still in schools at Vanderbilt, would she have rushed the field when they beat Alabama and helped carry the goalposts to the river? Tennessee fan, a little worried about going there last game of regular season. So glad you found a buddy boat or 2 that you jelled with. Missed in the part of all the sites you visited, so don't know if you went to West Point. Went there for a football game in mid 70;s, toured some but not enough.
@TheBoomershines10 күн бұрын
LOL I would NOT have rushed the field or carried the goalpost to the river because I am a rule follower and hate litter. But I did cheer VERY loudly when we won. I am also happy to report that Vanderbilt got the goalpost out of the river, and they are auctioning pieces off as a fundraiser. No need to worry when you go for the UT game. Vandy fans are typically very well-behaved. Sadly, we did not get to tour West Point or eat at the Culinary Institute. Guess we just need to loop again for those two stops.

Thanks for the videos. Quick question about marina stays. If you reserve for one night, and then the weather is bad, how hard is it to extend for 3 or 4 nights, etc? What if someone else has already reserved the slip for that 2nd night and you don't want to depart due to weather??? How does that work? Have you ever been forced to leave?
@TheBoomershines10 күн бұрын
Great question!!! We found that most marinas were very willing to work with us and figure something out. Usually, if the weather is bad, nobody is moving, so if the slip was reserved, the other boat most likely wouldn't arrive. But you never know and there is no guarantee -- and that caused me a fair amount of stress along the loop. We also got burned by that in Canada. There was only one slip that would fit us at a marina. We had that slip reserved but the boat before us refused to leave due to "engine problems." (the left no problem the following morning) We ended up having to tie up in a very difficult spot alongside an office building. Every day is an adventure when you live on a boat.
