Why is everything about fishing about nailing and killing everything in sight. Thats why fisheries are using barbless flies to give the trout a chance to fight another day

There are no fish killed in any of my vids . I always use barbless hooks as you can see .

When you say 15 foot leader is that to the flies or appoint fly?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769Ай бұрын
Thats 15ft total length of leader from fly line to point fly . Out side of competition conditions when the fish are super pressured there is no need for silly long leaders . Keep things simple and easy .

@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67692 ай бұрын
Really depends on how deep you want it and at what speed your fishing it . As a single fly 10ft of 10lb fluro would be fine . If you wanted to get it on the deck and fish it super slow I have fished these patterns with as little as a 3ft leader !

Great tye, just wondering what length leader do you ue when you fish this pattern
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67692 ай бұрын
Usually fairly short . I'm using this version over a normal snake because i want to fish it tight to the bottom without getting snagged . So paired with a sinking line if I am retrieving fast I will be on an 8ft leader if I want to fish dead slow anything down to as little as 2 feet depending on the venue and substrate . I would usually use 10lb fluro to aid turnover as these things aren't particularly aerodynamic !
@brianr95292 ай бұрын
Hi Tim, lovely fly. Do you ever use glue or varnish on your beads? Nothing worse than tying up some flies and first time you use it, catch 3 or 4 fish and the colours coming off the bead.
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67692 ай бұрын
No I dont put any extra treatment on the beads . Generally steer clear of cheaper products as the finish can wear . These beads are from Fastmail tackle . Also it depends where you are fishing , concrete bowls or gravel banks can play havoc with flies and lines ! Cheers for watching .

Been gorging your videos like a trout on buzzers 😃. Just restarting fly fishing after 20 years and beginning to learn casting again (needs work). I bought a 9'6" Wychwood Flow after seeing you use them. My old rod was a Wychwood Sharpshooter but found it a bit fast and stiff. I noticed your Flow in this video is quite a muted grey but when mine arrived it is a very bright white/silver colour. Did they change them at some point?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex67692 ай бұрын
Glad you are enjoying the vids and thanks for watching ! The whole Wychwood range went through a re brand this summer . The New Flow rods are the exact same blank just a light grey colour now . I can also recommend the new True fly FA range if your looking for something a little lighter with a bit of poke to it .
