Говорят, что он последнее время был толстым. Неправда! При его росте Элвис всегда был великолепен.

No enthusiasm in the audience whatsoever… My guess is, they can’t believe what they are looking at because he’s so bad looking at this point.
@antonio36827 күн бұрын
Even though I agree that Elvis wasn't looking good at the time, the reviews of his shows from 1977 from audience are quite positive. Maybe these concerts are not as dynamic as couple years earlier, but people still enjoyed them.

He looks as bad here as he did in June 1977 for the CBS special… He doesn’t sound so great either… Sounds like he’s out of gas.

No. They all had a good time, rest assured. Many of the crowd shots are not from the audio that you are hearing. So they don't match too good.

My understanding is that Dr Nick did not come along for this tour like he normally would. Possibly money reasons but I can't remember. Dr Nick would control (well, some control at least) and balance out the cocktail of pills Elvis was on throughout a tour. This perfomance here is the result of his absence. After this gig they went straight to Dr Nick and begged him to come back on board. It is easily the worst concert he ever did (that I've heard anyway) and it's so depressing it may actually be even more depressing than seeing Elvis singing Old Macdonald or that song to a bull called Dominic. Fast forward to December 1976 and he puts on some of the best gigs he's put on in years.

I prefer the stripped-down 1956 version. After the 68 Comeback, Elvis’s sound changed to the big band sound, which was probably a natural progression to suit his fuller voice. At least Elvis never skimped on employing the best musicians. Unlike Chuck Berry, who would turn up in town without a backing band, find the cheapest local musicians available, and demand up-front payment in cash.

Another example of how stupid Colonel Tom Parker was . He refused to have high quality recordings made of all of Elvis's concerts.

There is or was alot of movies that we'll never get to see because time or flood or fire or whatever has eroded them away. They didn't know that it was gold till it was gone. Someone write a song about that Please! DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT WAS GOLD TILL IT WAS GONE.

@jimfoster79862 ай бұрын
@@canalcksofficial1745 I’ve heard people wonder why he didn’t just load up on uppers for these shows. Unfortunately, people severely addicted to Barbituates, tranquilizers and painkillers need the drugs in their system to function at all. So Elvis had no choice but to take those drugs. I’m sure he was on uppers as well, but when you take uppers and downers together you’re basically a wide awake drunk. You’re walking and talking, just not very well, as evidenced here.

What a huge difference from just three years later at the same place on his last tour. I’ve noticed that if you looked at the footage from the last tour, the fans look completely shocked at what they are seeing on stage of how far downhill he went in a short period of time.
@G.M.19442 ай бұрын
Too bad he didn’t do this great Richard song justice live, that would have been one helluva live recording, with that great funky rock band of his and that edge to his voice he also showed during the ‘68 TV Special, imagine that being released as a single, blowing all other rock bands away.
@antonio3682 ай бұрын
Agree, that could have been amazing song for him if arranged properly for 1970s.
