This is a great tip, but how do you remove a stuck pinon gear retaining pin from an older VM120?

After using a vicmarc 120 Chuck for 7 years I find that nothing compares to this Chuck.. The Chuck is built like a brick shit house and has never failed. I have used 4 other chucks and they all just suck.. I Love my vicmarc Chuck and simply the very best made..

That didn't work for me. I tried everything including soaking in release oils, heating the jaw and different size punches to cover the whole head of the screw. But the easiest way was to use a drill press and the exact same size drill as the head of the screw and drill out the head. Once that was done the jaw came off and I was able to unscrew the remaining threaded portion just using my fingers. Seems to me the problem is the screws are made from the same grade steel as the jaws so they tend to weld together under excessive tightening.

Its called a race. The bearing is the spinny part. The race is what the bearing rides on. Otherwise good video

I have vm 120 with dowels in them (not ones with Allen key head). One of them is stuck. Hitting /shocking the chuck even after applying lube. Any other suggestions?
@vicmarcmachinery Жыл бұрын
You may have to soak it for a while in Kero or something like WD40 to loosen the pin. Use safety glasses and the blow it with compressed air afterward. Try that

May I suggest some improvements to your youtube site? Make some playlists. I want to learn about which wood lathe chuck to purchase. I am finding it difficult to find a video with the correct information. Look how many videos there are here, and you are making me read the title of each and every one, only find that it is the wrong video. Here are the playlists you need to create: How to pick a lathe, how to pick a chuck, how to pick ___ (other equipment) ; and then How to Set up.... with each piece of equipment; and then. Under what lathe chuck, I would want to see a title telling me big, little, small, etc. I do not know your chucks, or how they are named. VM100 means nothing to me. Pen chuck, and Small bowl chuck, and Large bowl chuck all mean something to me. Especially since I did not buy your product. Yet. So, this is my free market research delivered right to where it is needed, the youtube channel hosts.

I've just bought the grinding jig that fits to my 8" bench grinder and am about to set it up. I'm impressed with the weight and quality compared to the US unit we use at The Men's Shed and a big bonus, it's made in Australia and it's about half the price.

Hi George. This lathe was used by a professional turner and was about 20 years old. I believed he used the lathe almost daily and it was starting to make a little noise. The bearings were actually not too bad but he just wanted them changed anyway.

That lathe has been used hard by a professional turner for many years without any regreasing. We recommend regreasing the bearings every few years for normal weekend use.

Bring back the 2 HP low speed grinder. Get CMG to make a double ended shaft motor if the Asian ones are not up to par. Who wants to remove your work from the lathe to grind a tool. That is just a lot of messing around. Bad idea.

*So far so good!>>>**t.co/dxawOe485Q ** It works great for small projects and beginners. I use it to make bent wood rigs. If you are looking for a high powered machine, this is not it, it doesn’t take much for it to stop spinning. For me, it works just fine and the stopping doesn’t bother me. I am a beginner and it makes me feel better to know I won’t lose a limb if my shirt gets hung up or something.*
