it wasnt. wouldn't suggest trying them over any other MH title, but it sounds like u're not speaking based on experience. either way, it feels like a fair thing to say to me that this specific iteration of MH didn't feel as much fun as the others and the vast majority of opinions i've heard agreed on this. of course there are some that liked the sunbreak combat, but certainly not the majority. also, wdym "too much rant"? xD i'm criticising 1 single thing that i suggest changing - counters(and equivalent). almost everything else about the game seems amazing :D

Man seeing the Valor style deflect makes me wish we got that instead of either spirit slash or helm breaker again. It's honestly why i liked the sakura stance in Rise cause it was the closest thing. I need to get a switch cause I never played any of the old games but I always watched so many ecology and old hunts as a kid. Since I know GU is a big fan fave I'll sink my teeth into it finally.

i do like the new approach of longsword. getting a different combo when hitting spirit lvl 3 is pretty cool, being able to attack further after spirit roundslash instead of sheathing naturally or going into special sheath looks amazing. same as the new finishing combo after helmbreaker and i never hated on longsword, just cause it's so weeby or too stupid with it's counters, unlike an apparently big part of the community. since it's not a PVP game, i dont really care what other's people's main weapons can or cannot do, as long as the game itself feels good to play, if that makes sense. but yeah, GU is fantastic, can only recommend it, especially, if u played world with friends and can somehow manage to play GU with them, it makes for an incredible experience, since it's by far the biggest title in terms of large monsters and therefore weapons and armor sets. not to mention the addition of hunting styles to further customize ur weapon to ur liking/playstyle and hunter arts(instead of just wire-bug-based, pretty much spammable sakura slash for example)

@@projectphyrexia oh don't get me wrong I like the direction of longsword too. It's just that I've always wanted to try that style of deflect. The Iai and spirit slash moves are cool. But if you were to switch spirit slash with the deflect I'd never touch another weapon lol. I also never understood the jealousy when, like we discussed before, there are plenty of counters and s for other weapons to take advantage of. The more people want the luxuries of other weapons the more things become less unique and interesting. So I'm right there with you on the lack of caring what your weapons do. I genuinely hope Wilds exceeds GU for it's monster roster. I want so much content and endless monsters to hunt so I can dump thousands of hours into it. I'm genuinely so excited.

@@toakamar8369 i wanna say there's never gonna be another MH title that surpasses GUs monster pool, unless it's like the PC counterpart of GU, adding all monsters from world, rise and wilds together xd but in general, i'd hope wilds just ends up being fun to play. combat feeling more like world than like rise, despite a couple of factors already pointing at rise, which i really dont like, buuut i guess hopes die last

well, i was really hoping MHW would be the foundation for wilds, but it seems like it was rise, sadly. aside from the mecha-looking HP bars, which are cool looking individually, but just don't fit the game's aesthetics, the graphics do look better than worlds, but the impact of hits and animations like SAED and elemental discharge is so terribly less visually pleasing than it was in world...(the new bloodborne style spider monster does look insane, to be fair) that however isn't impacting gameplay too much at least. giving every friggin weapon a counter/s, is. world's rather basic approach of weapons and combat felt so much better, always having to be aware of openings rather than just spamming damage and pulling a counter, if the monster should happen to connect. it felt like they wanted to compensate the people that played weapons other than LS for what longsword had for so long. but giving every weapon a counter certainly isn't the solution that makes LS feel less busted or the overall gameplay/combat more satisfying. look at my latest MHGU video for example - are the 3 successive longsword counters more satisfying to watch than the opening scene with hammer or the greatsword scene against valstrax? no, not in the slightest. same as that one world video with hammer vs tiggy in super slowmo. that scene looks crazy good, cause it's so much harder to time and pull off and with weapons not having counters, u just have to be more mindful when fighting something that can almost or entirely 1shot you. managing to time a hit that takes seconds to wind up, starting before the monster even starts it's next attack is so much more satisfying and hype than hitting a counter. and yes, for many of the weapons showcased here, i have no idea what i'm doing and randomly press buttons for dps, but it doesn't matter, 'cause we got counters/guardpoints/s on everything, so u can get away with playing shitty x'd

i have since done a couple of updates for quality of life(supply of rare candies to not have to grind in trade off to having no EVs), additional balancing and toughness of the battles. it's running on the original AI, therefore it's not as tough as emerald kaizo, run n bun, etc., but the gym leaders and e4 are certainly a challenge, compared to the original game, if you nuzlock - limiting your choice of pokemon + staying true to the level caps(as they aren't forced). i did not implement the physical/special split, nor any additional pokemon past gen3, as - after going back from gen 6-9 - the battles in gen3 felt really good and were super fun without everyone running 120+ basepower moves, constantly threatening OHKOs. furthermore the shown mew encounter was removed; more tricky to find spots, that hold some legendaries, added. but it's mostly about overcoming the challenge of beating the game in a nuzlocke anyway.

i honestly cannot recall. pretty sure it wasnt the best split anyway. there's some cap for magic balance in sro(cant recall, 120% or something? gotta google it.). from what i've heard, u usually distribute INT until u hit mag balance cap and then rest into STR.

@@justcallmekiwi7701 yeah, but apparently, that's how it's most efficient. pushing to mag balance cap and then rest into str. no idea, i was really have on STR on this video and it was years ago xd really only relevant in 1v1, 0 pressure in job or for uniques/farming, cause ur mag dmg is too low. and even in 1v1, u can still get 1shot by warri/rogue, despite how much u waste into STR

A few years ago, I was helping this guy with the Ukanlos urgent in MH4U. They forgot to bring cleansers, so I made bulldozed them out of frost blight every single time so Ukanlos wouldn't cart them XD Would've been easier to help them if they didn't keep running from me though, lmao

I have not encountered this behavior in Monster Hunter World after 80 hours, yet. I am a former Insect Glaive main who tried every weapon. I am currently playing the Charge Blade. I farmed both 5 piece sets of the Nergagante set. I had to set my run on private to finish the set because players kept spamming and would not cut a tail. I am currently using a fully upgraded Guardian Charge Blade. Three Nergagante pieces which have more gem slots compared to the other set. A pant which gives +1 to paralysis and a +3 paralysis amulet, and a pant which gives +1 to Partbreaker. I farmed a Paralysis Charge Blade so I could have that option. This is starting to look like a build I created in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate which was required to get past a few hunts. It seems particularly good against Rathian for cutting its tail off.

@@projectphyrexia i started with mhfu (second gen/fleet) and have played every game since, but mhwi overrides any and every trace of nostalgia in my system. GU is fun af, don't get me wrong, but iceborne is so immersive it doesn't even feel like a game imo

@@zzz-901 yeah, doesnt work that way for me. mhwi is great, but it didnt feel as much like monster hunter to me as GU did. but besides the absurd amount of content, GU didn't feel as clunky as older titles(ofc not as fluent as world/rise) and brought a bunch of new things like hunter arts and styles, some of which were taken over into world, some into rise. sums up the old gens so well and bridges to the newer gens.

uuh, there was some chinese new years event boxes that included a PA skin and this is the head part from it (they also updated it to have 2 styles with one that fits the arcana even more) it was called "song of the shadow dragon", u should be able to find it in steam shop, i'd guess, that's where i got it

that's one thinig i never used in rise and really didnt mind in GU. i actually like being able to see what weapon someone uses based on the model and unlike the crazy powerlevel jumps in world, GU weapons arent that far apparent overall, so u could go either go with ur respective BIS or whatever you like best visually without a crazy dmg loss.

the hunting styles are one of the more important parts to me. being able to vary the way ur weapon plays without actually using a different weapon is pretty nice, that's one of the few actually great features in rise imo and i was really missing it in world haha but i guess that's a matter of preference

While I did start with World and enjoy both it and Rise, I overall have more fun playing GU. Makes me feel that even if I want to do a run using a single weapon there's enough variety for me to switch it up.

world and rise took a bunch of things over from GU anyway, so u might recognize some familiar things :) if u got a mate u could play it with, i'd highly recommend that, but most randoms are nice, so should be fine either way. and it's certainly worth. very small playerbase at this point, but always a couple of lobbies open(at least, if u can see all of them, low rank lobbies arent as many) and overall it is a fantastic title :D

I am a world baby ngl however i am getting generations ultimate tomorrow :) only reason i got world was because it was accessible, ever since seeing crimson glow valstrax ive wanted the game lol. Also the game looks more fun than world, world is just the best starter mh game imo.

@@RealPapaScorchPizza true, i feel the same about pokemon gen3 compared to new gens, which is why i - in theory - was really hyped for the way they did the style in the dia/pearl remakes, but since that didn't have a competitive ladder and instead the sword/shield ladder just kept going, i ditched that one :( but then again, for both MH and pokemon, i played the old titles, therefore they just hold a certain charm and nostalgia for me by default

GUs grind? it didnt feel overwhelming for me, but i didnt aim for 100% completion on all ends. to me it feels much better, since once g4, u can basically do anything u like and want to do, having access to anything, unlike rise where i'm 500h in and still anomaly lvl 85 and need 221 to unlock the final augmentation like wtf is that terrible forced grind? xD

My first monster hunter was world and then i got rise after 400 hours of world. I really wanted to play an older game that didnt really have all the clunk of world so i got gu. And man was it a worthwhile purchase. Started maining lance in gu and then because i was getting decent with it in gu i made a lance build in world. I do have to say i love the hunter arts in gu. And capcom sold woth the weapon designs in world so hard 😢

I forgot about talisman farm omg My favorite memory of this game was to create EX Crimson Fatty lobbies with room names like "born to faint" or "masochist lobby". No matter who joined, everybody would stay in the hub, even after 7 failed attempts. We knew it's a gamble. I've defeated EX Crimson once. God, I miss it.

I started in rise and got GU not long after, and honestly im enjoying it a lot since there's so much expermientation and content Ive been alternating between world, rise, and GU and has given me a much greater appreciation for these three game's differences and gameplay styles. (Also i finally got my little brother to play it with me since theres a cat in the game)

GU outperforms anything imo and world is in between, being a very solid title, too.
