Question: Square D pressure setting (4:53) Is my understanding correct? (1) First adjust the large nut to set the cut in pressure, so if I wanted to lower cut-in pressure to 100 psi to reduce the amount of cycling I would turn it counterclockwise. (2) Then if I wanted to maintain the manufacturers 175 psi cut-off pressure, I would turn the smaller nut to increase the differential. NOTE: This is an Ingersoll Rand 2475 unit which comes from the factory set to something like 140 psi cut-in, and 175 cut-out. I typically run higher volumes of air at 40 psi in a media cabinet and don't need the unit to cut back on at 140 psi because it is so far away (pressure-wise) from what I need, causing the compressor to annoyingly cycle.

I had this problem I thought it was so switch and bought a new one anyway halfway through the video I decided to go out and pull it apart sure enough there was a couple of little bits of dirt I cleaned it put it back together turned it on compressor turned off did not leak air oh well looks like ive got a spare switch

So i know how to measure bolt threads. So the 1st one is clearly 1/2" outside but minus 1/4"? Wouldn't that be the inside diameter. This is a bit confusing. I have seen this with the grease gun parts they use the NPT measure. So you what you measuring is all NPT? I am not a plumber but wouldn't a caliper be more accurate than eyeballing with tape measure.

What options are available without the unloader? I have an older 2-stage, 3 HP, 230v compressor.

Regular SAE 30 weight, non-detergent, single viscosity oil is fine to use in most air compressor and power washer pumps. It's inexpensive and most hardware stores will carry it. Change it regularly to extend pump life.

how do you remove the valve ? I took off both screws do you just pull it ?

Great video! My check valve is exactly like the one in the video. I had a leaking switch, cleaned up the check valve of some corrosion and problem solved. 10 minutes of effort got me up and running again. Thanks for posting!

Do you have experience with Amsoil for whether tests are good. There normally a premium oil. Only once had thay had bad tests on transmission oil. So I'm told.

I just need a new unloader valve it's corroded spring is broken. Looking at prices the valve is $20 I can get entire pressure switch off amazon for $14 and just remove the unloader valve from it throw rest away.

Is there a CFM rating in addition to the diameter? I have eastwood QST-30/60 unit and want to upgrade the intake filter from OEM. Thinking to add larger and more efficient filter to increase compressor life.

4:00 The thing i’m finding very frustrating, is that I can’t find the right size of compression fitting to replace the unloader tube. I have a pretty old compressor and the tube was aluminum and I broke it while I was replacing the pressure switch. Now I am having a devil of a time trying to find the right size tube and compression fitting.

I own the that exact same pump got it new on an Air America made by DeVilbiss , 27 years old , has been a charm, replaced the reed plate and gaskets , upper end GASKETS needed 😊for that job, reeds had no lite passing Thur ,cleaned with de carbonizer , perfect.That was 6 years ago, been my best buddy.started getting louder , bottom end more so, then upper ,pulled the pump drained the oil thur the paint strainer , normal discoloration, always use wolfs head air comp. 10w30.needs to come apart , and before I open her up, want to be sure parts are somewhat available, well I have called many of the repair and sales and they say bearings obsolete, don’t want to get into cam bearing substitute, if I get lucky and find something close, specifications appear to-be non extent , So What I’m saying is HELP PLEASE Randy Carbeutor

His idle explanation is backards. As it unloads it kicks out not in, thu, reducing idle. Use this with a belt centrifugal clutch like I did.

Carbon does not build up in an oiled air compressor as there is no "POWER" cycle in an oiled air compressor. In order for carbon to be present combustion needs to take place. Oiled air compressors, like oil-free air compressors only job is to compress air.

Thanks for the video. So my comp is leaking air from top of engine. Took it apart and I see a tiny pin hole where air is escaping. After watching your video, I’m thinking that pin hole is there by design????? My valve may be bad and the air escapes through that hole? Thanks for any advice?
