I’ve been looking at this bottle for so long and never pulled the trigger. Currently I’m eyeing the Benrinnes 15 and maybe the Bunna 18. I’m picking my bottles very carefully these days as money is a bit scarcer and I’m running out of storage space as well.

My apologies for not getting back to you ASAP. I somehow missed your comments. This bottle was brought in directly from the bottling plant storage area to the distillery where I purchased it, I believe on May 20th, 2024 early morning when the shop had just opened. I was able to get it and the Longrow Palo Cortado 9 because I was at the front of the line up of customers. There is no bottling date but the UK customs number is A30000000446 and the bar code is 10854 15700. Slàinte Mhath

In fact, 100 euros a bottle makes it the most overrated whisky exactly like the Macallan. It is well made and intriguing stuff but it is worth half of it.
@noelsworldofwhisky820810 күн бұрын
I didn't find their whiskies pricy at the distillery as compared to the other distilleries. What I found was the lack of availability of their whisky. They do not produce enough whisky for the market demand. It wasn't always that way because my son use to buy me affordable Springbank 14s and 15s that were readily available in BC, Canada that you can not find today let alone what you might pay for them.. Great video. How different is the newer white label bottle to this brown one? I read somewhere that the newer one Is actually better. Really liked the detailed review. Subbed.
@noelsworldofwhisky82087 күн бұрын
I had a chance to drink both whiskies. I look at them as both decent whiskies but still being different. The 18 with the brown label has a 2nd additional finish in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. The newer white canister 18 is fully matured in refill ex-bourbon, so to me the bourbon oak influence seemed lighter. There seems to be a lot more going on that I preferred in the Brown Label but that is my palate and opinion. They both are still good whiskies and the Deanston distillate character can really express itself with it's full maturation in the bourbon casks. Slàinte Mhath

Hi Noel My favorite whiskey of all of the bottles that's won out of dram face and the osws,didn't even place. I'm a deanston fan boy, and have several bottles of different deanston organic oloroso cask finish bottles, the 2002 organic oloroso cask strength is phenomenal whiskey, the only problem is now so expensive not many people can afford it, but before I die I will get another bottle for sure, thanks for the great review, and I love what you do !!!

Thanks for watching and your valuable information on Deanston, one of my favorite's as well. The 2002 organic oloroso is on my (bucket) list. Deanston was on our list of distilleries to visit but we spent too much time at Stirling Castle and had to make it to Pitlochry for the distillery tours in the highlands. Next Spring I hope to visit.

The current situation with Springbank reminds me of what happened to Weller 12yo about a decade ago - that used to be my go-to bourbon when it was $27.00/bottle. Then some people noticed that it had the same or very similar mashbill as Pappy, then prices and availability went nuts. Your review seems to indicate that Springbank are maintaining the quality of their whisky, so that's something. It's kind of ironic that the distillery sees almost nothing of all the money that's changing hands in the secondary market, but at least they can be sure of selling all they make while the bubble lasts. It's Dutch tulip mania all over again.
@noelsworldofwhisky8208Ай бұрын
I am with you on Weller and the price of Pappy today.....I have a bottle from years ago but I had a chance to buy a couple at our BCL special release if I wanted to stand in a line up early in the morning. I wasn't willing to do that. The Weller has been easier to get in BC. When will this bubble burst?

Nice review! One of my favourite 12yo whisky, to be quite honest...one of my over all favourites. Really good stuff, but quite complex and not for everyone, not a beginners whisky. Here in Sweden the price is sek699 (€61, $67US) in todays currency. Great value for the money!

Visited the distillery in June. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 1 pm so we didn't have to worry about lineups, and surprisingly there was a shelf full of the 12 year old cask strength Springbank, the new Longrow Red 7 year old Pinot Noir, and an open day Hazelburn bottling. The cage bottles were heavily picked over and no regular 10 or 15 year old Springbanks. Not sure if we just got lucky, but I can't imagine having to wait in a lineup for over 2 hours and potentially not even get what you were hoping to grab. Glad to hear you got some good ones though!

@@noelsworldofwhisky8208 yeah totally understandable, you landed some cool bottlings. I think they've got a player with this one. It's a tough business for these new distilleries to wait for ten years because they still have to deal with their overhead and payroll. Unless they have a Gin still it's going to be non age statements. Now that they have the ten they will have to follow up with a twelve. Shelter Point distillery here on Vancouver Island just came out with their first twelve and I just finished a review on it. Slàinte Mhath

You've provided good information here. So far, I've only tried the standard GlenAllachie 12 and a Spec's (Texas) retailer exclusive 12yo single cask bottled at full strength. IMHO the standard 12 was fine but not really exceptional, whereas the the cask strength 12 was very good, showing evidence that they used a quality cask to mature the spirit. However, with both examples I couldn't really find a distinctive flavor or aroma note from the distillate itself, making the overall taste just a bit generic. I hope to try their standard 15yo soon to see what a little more age does for this whisky.
