My favorite is this and the Summilux 35mm pre-asph Titanium (way better built than the new steel rim remake). I tend to use the 35mm more over this, as this 50mm is a bit hefty

I love this lens! I have the Aluminum Black version one and it's my favorite 50 f1.4 because its the lightest and smallest Summilux. Great for travel/ Street. I also prefer the knurled focus ring. The bokeh IMO is smoother as you stop it down than the ASPH 11891 because it has ( I believe) 12 aperture blandes instead of 9

just a quick question Josh : is there a way to uncouple AE while half pressing the shutter button ( or once you half press the shutter in A mode it's locked to the value it was reading at the instant you pressed the shutter ) ?

Matt says that sometimes he becomes "invisible." With a chin like that and a bald head like that and a Leica, no one could really be invisible for long. I think the guy sitting on the park bench with the small dog below was just afraid Matt was going to ask for money. He was ignoring Matt as best he could.

What a lovely lens. If I didn’t have the new Summilux-M 50 mm f /1.4 II ASPH (plus the f/1 + f/1.2 Noctilux-M 50 mm lenses) and have the nonAPO- and APO Summicron 50s next on my list, this beauty would be very tempting.

Never watched a vid bout the virtues of a specific camera without an example of the kind of images it can produce. But yeah, nice shade of green and the sun shade is iconic … and it comes with a strap and (!!) a leather card carder … does it come with a free receipt as well ??!!

As an owner of the version 2 in silver and the ASPH in black chrome, I perfectly agree with you that this LHSA edition does have the best of both worlds in its vintage look and modern performance.

I checked it out online and the price is WAY lower than I was expecting. The iconic Safari body, a 35mm Summicron lens with hood, and the rest of the original accessories for less than the cost of an M10? That won’t last very long.

If you buy any camera, you should be using it. Sure it's a good conversation piece but have those conversations while your shooting photos. Although it's 10 mp so you might be better of spray painting your sony white and saving some money. OK ok you changed my mind, buy this and stick it in a glass box and show it off to your rich friends while you snort caviar and smell each others farts.

Today Saturday, December 23 2023 two days before Christmas Santa drove me to Leica store Miami to pick out a Christmas gift. The crazy thing is they were closed. Sooooo Sad. I'm not sure how our retail store can close on a Saturday before Christmas.

Gotta love these guys. I happen to be in miami and strolled into the store. Everyone was nice even though i had no plans to buy. Years later i purchased equipment from them. David even spent a considerable amount of time with me on the phone. If you are considering a leica definitely consider working with this store.
