No. Our quick connectors are 3/4-inch ID flow, while our hose is 5/8-inch ID flow.

If you had a bench vice you could probably clamp it on two flats of the large outside hex of the piece that’s coming loose and use the other part to turn it tight. You’d have to be careful not to crush the threads though.

If you go the wheeled cart route, you could buy the twelve foot leader hose, and then roll the whole cart out to where you pivot. My hose spigot is set up behind some landscaping, so I basically roll it out to where I can clear everything and then start pulling hose off the reel. That was my only mistake is I started with a six foot leader hose and a two wheeled cart. The next year I bought the 4 wheel kit and a twelve foot leader. It’s perfect now.

Hands down the best hose, reel, sprayer and accessories. I have purchased from Eley for years and nothing comes close to the quality and durability. Great video explaining how to determine hose length. My advice to anyone trying to decide is to always add a little more than what you think you will need.

You should have at least an inch of axle to push the swivel on and tighten it down onto the axle. If you don't have that much showing, rewatch the video and double-check assembly. The reel needs to be fully pushed onto the axle with the cam-lever brake placed into the notch in the flange. If you still have issues. No, it does not. Long-term exposure to UV rays could cause some discoloration, but certainly no stiffness.

That looks like it would reduce water flow compared to the original design, was this done to cut your cost ?

Nope. It actually costs more to produce this design. The change in the shape of the garden hose swivel gooseneck does have a "theoretical impact" on water flow, but it is so minimal that our digital flow meter with a resolution of 0.01 gallons per minute (GPM) and our pressure drop gauges cannot detect it.

Anyone wondering about this water hose I’m telling you this product is hands down the best. I have two and cannot find fault with either. Perfect? Probably not. But, in my opinion the best water hose in existence. I don’t know these guys and get nothing for endorsing their product I’m just a satisfied customer.

This is the swivel that the Eley hose reel should have come with. I have two Eley units and have gone through four of the copper style swivel units. If there is ANY water left in them during the winter and it freezes you can say goodbye to the swivel unit. I have since come up with a workaround that fixed this problem. Also, I still have an American made Rapid Reel design from the early 2000s that I have left out in the winter that still works flawlessly! The new Eley units are good but not as good as their original Rapid Reel units.

I wish you’d include a no-kink spring with your hoses as you used to a few years ago. No matter how careful I am, I have a subtle kink on the (Eley brand) hose when mounting onto the Eley reel.

I know what I am asking is like asking if I should wear a belt and suspenders. But, I am curious. When you say tighten firmly, is there a torque spec? Also, would you recommend I use blue thread locker on the bolts. It seems like that would keep it from ever loosening up.

There is no torque spec, and you can certainly use lock-thread, but it is not needed.

@@EleyCorp Thanks. I did the assembly this weekend and it was very easy. The video is very helpful. A couple notes: 1) I did use some blue thread lock. I use the blue, paste stick so it is easy to add a tiny bit to each bolt. However, I saw the bolts on parts that move have locking nuts so as stated, not really necessary. 2) The axles were taped in the package. This left sticky residue on the part where the wheels spin. I used goo gone to remove the residue and then spray cleaner to remove the goo gone. 3) To the axles I applied a very thin layer of Sil Glide. Not really needed, but it allowed the wheels to spin nicely. Final word of advice to anyone thinking about getting this hose reel: Get it. And get the hose too. And order the reel cover. I didn’t order the cover at first, but did once I saw how nice the reel and hose really is. I spent a lot of money on cheap ass, plastic hose reels over the years. They’re not really that cheap when replaced as soon as they leak, fade or break. And hoses too. The Eley hose is super high quality. IMO it is higher quality than heavy, commercial hoses you buy from industrial supply companies. Great products. Thanks Eley.

You don't have Eley quick connects at both ends? 😱😂I have junk hoses so I remove the quick connects for winter to reduce galvanic corrosion. They get a dab of silicone grease in the spring.
