What cute kitts (babies). I had one as a pet as a kid and she was such a delight. Most people don’t have luck but my father and I learned from a fur farmer what to feed her etc..When she was two my little sister and her friend’s let her out of the cage and she came back 8 days later. I’d cry myself to sleep missing her! She was so smart but didn’t like any other person but me.

No such thing as a wild inland otter now. Being hand reared and kept in close proximity of each other, the natural instinct of being nocturnal and fiercely territorial has been bred out of them. Man's perpetual interference with nature.
@dazalmighty252 жыл бұрын
Hi they are very wild in this area and much of their movement is done under the cover of darkness, but you do get lucky during light hours, and if they have pups they can be in full view at times. The more time by the water the more you will see 👀

Stunning! I love Mink, but unfortunately we have None in North Wales.. Just the odd native Polecats that you see as road kills. I know that you are not supposed to keep them in the UK, but they make terrific pets if they are hand reared. Look up Joseph Carter the Mink Man on youtube, he now has over 1 MILLION Subscribers, and has made his fortune using them for that extermination, and selling his books on keeping them!
@dazalmighty253 жыл бұрын
They are stunning mammals, but they have to be controlled, to protect native species. It's something I have done, not that I like doing it. But in all fairness after doing it, wildlife in that area has made a come back. They are very clever animals, just in the wrong places, not there fault ether

Still remember the first time I saw this extraordinary viaduct in its magnificent settings, more than 3 decades ago. I was just exploring this very hidden part of Carmarthenshire, and had no idea it was there. You really think your eyes must be playing tricks on you. Sooooo pleased that this Welsh treasure was saved and refurbished.
@christineherbert63155 жыл бұрын
Oh.... and check out the great circular walk from Cynghordy Station (request stop) to Rhandirmwyn in Great Walks from the Heart of Wales Railway or scramble up the bridleway near the viaduct for some great views. And if you are lucky enough to be there when one of the 4 trains a day comes across, the peace will barely be disturbed as the 2 carriage special whizzes by. The loudest sound may be your laughter at the absurdity of this huge viaduct for so tiny a train. It all has to be seen to be believed.

Along with regular sightings on the rivers, it is sometimes quite easy to track otters on many Yorkshire lakes, by simply following the trail of dead carp and other large fish, with just the livers eaten. Fish of twenty or more years of age and many weighing over twenty pounds, mostly left to rot on the banks, with just the livers eaten. The wastage seems to go against the laws of nature, with so much effort and energy going into killing prey, and then leaving most of it. Perhaps they raid ponds as they are relatively easy, compared to rivers which have depleted fish stocks. I was genuinely pleased to see my first Yorkshire otter in 1998, but the novelty has definitely worn off, as fish populations on the rivers were already in trouble, due to mismanagement of our waterways. The release of so many top predators, at the same time as the European eel population collapsed, was yet another pressure on already depleted fish populations. Irresponsible, in my opinion. If more work had been done on fish surveys, and spawning habitat improvement, the otter, and other predators would have returned on their own, in time and in sustainable numbers. We really need to put more effort into protecting rivers as a whole, from abstraction, agricultural pollution, excessive drainage/dredging, overgrazing of marginal vegetation, invasive, alien plant species, increasing cormorant populations, hydro-fracking etc.

totally agree mate im from the shores of strangford lough were theres a goverment funded project to protect seals! otters have blasted off in the area aswell however now the sea-trout population has all but collapsed zero funding zero efforts made to protect these top predators food stocks its as you say given time they all would return on their own if the proper habitat is established!

Otters are destroying lakes and rivers, I'm very in tune with my surroundings and the wildlife our country has to offer, unfortunately I have seen first hand the devastation that otters have caused to lakes and rivers and people's lives, in my opin8on they are a vermin species and the only good otter is a dead otter, sorry if that offends you @Darren Harries otterboy...

I was flying over there but later found that I'd need permission. Would love to fly over there but may have to do it illegally and hope no one is around to ask questions. Did you get permission to film there?
@dazalmighty256 жыл бұрын
Who said you needed permission? I asked and flew ...If your not selling you can do most stuff and fly most places ..There are too many people out there who think they know whats what !But there are loopholes all over ... The reason they say you can't fly is the want to own the copyright on photos ie postcards and media ..If your Not selling they can do little ....
@swanseawales19796 жыл бұрын
Darren Harries I think I'll go with your advice and just fly. The DJI app say's it's a no fly zone because it's private land but I guess they're gonna have to catch me first

@dazalmighty256 жыл бұрын
The same as can you fly without a camera on a drone ? (do what you want when you want and worry later ) You don't have to fly in the castle but around it is fair game . I had a staff member from Kidwelly castle spouting off the Drone law to me saying she would call the police !! I also told her call them .....No cop can pin point where your drone is in the sky ,none could 100 ,so they could not 100% say where you flew . She also told me that the area is in a NO Fly Zone .......On the NO FLY ZONE website !!!! I had already looked at that nonsense and it is a made up page by NO one from the CAA as at the bottom of all the bull and bitching it says ...........none of the above has come from the CAA ...... She later went on to say ,,,I live by the castle and there are drones passing my house every 8 minuets .....So I replied ''They must have a lot of battery's as they only last around 8 minuets .... (There are some know all's out there ) I told her she was talking poor rubbish and she was in No position as a till worker to be making up her own ballcocks!!!! ) The funny thing is 'if its a No fly Zone ,why dose it give the right to custodians of the castles to do video adverts to promote the castle with Drone footage ..... That they have payed someone to do ..... If someone else has done it so can you ....Plus your doing it for free and not for profit...... (Anyways before all this I had already asked the castle's management and the stated !!!!AS long as I was not selling footage it was fine to fly around the castle ) (I love it when people say I can't do something ) I just have to do it .....

I had a phantom 1 with no gimble... Yes it would of been lovely without the shake ...wish I had the gimble to be fair I was just starting and getting use to flying it ...I had good fun with it too .It has had a battering ..I then started flying in strait lines to get smooth footage ..but I should of bought a gimble ...The thing that put me off was I was not making money out of it and I thought why spend more ..but it would of made scene as I did a lot of none paid work with it .
