I haven’t heard of a re-occurring shutter issue with the M9 or M8. Both have decent shutters, probably up to 100,000 actuations, which is pretty normal.

My only digital 35mm is an MP 240. Its brassed like crazy and i love it. I found a used Match Technical brass thumb grip which looks perfect with it. I get people asking about my leica all the time. When i was at uni doing my masters degree. i wouldnt have thought that brassing was attractive. I had a pristine hasselblad and sinar 4x5. I feel as you get older you appreciate the aesthetic more. I still have pristine cameras, Mamiya 7II's, Chamonix H1, RZII but this bashed up leica 240 just feels different. Leica also released the Lenny Kravitz brassed leica. Which personally i thought , WHY Lenny? Nothing against him personally, just a strange choice as a face for leica. Leica has made some bizarre choices through the years thats for sure. Thank you for the video!
@bigheadtaco11 минут бұрын
Ha ha, ya the ltd edition Lenny Kravitz pre-brassed M-P 240 was a shocking camera when it came out, but looking at it now, I think it looks pretty cool. I personally would rather brass it myself, it’s more fun and custom to the way I shoot. But some are collectors, so I kind of get it. You have a nice collection of cool cameras. Mamiya 7II are cool cameras :-)

********** Just received the camera. Its a bit annoying> 1 You can set it to auto turn off/sleep after 2 mins, which is great for battery. But no button pressing or dial twisting will turn it back on! You have to turn the on off switch to off, and back on again. That's a little weird. 2 You can't use the app to get photos saved on the internal memory transferred to your phone. You can only transfer 'printed' photos. That seems a little sneaky. Forcing you to spend money on the prints to be able to get the photos. if you use a micro sd card, then you can poke the card out, put it in an adaptor card, put it in a reader and grab the images - but now I have ZERO need for that app if I can't transfer or view my photos in it. This is real bad. 3 The wide quality is quite good and a step up from the mini Evo. But cropped its just the same as the mini evo quality. 4 Ergonomically it seems quite easy to use as it hangs up right from your neck strap. But the neck strap is pretty cheap and the plastic clips to hold the strap to the camera dont feel like they would last too long. 5 Sometimes pressing the shutter and holding it down, even when focus goes green and beeps, it doesnt seem to fire straight away. That must take some getting used to. I'm going to use this for weddings and some family stuff, but I'm not going to print everything I shoot. It's going to slow me down having to upload it manually to my computer and then transfer it to my phone.

I do enjoy my BHT Cooph rope. I do agree that I didn't have any issue installing the rings, it worked without issue for me. But I do think the length is a bit short, as I can't wear it "cross body" or it is is under my arm pit. Maybe I am not skinny enough at 6'2" and 250ish. :D But I don't normally wear it that way so not a huge issue, but it would be nice to have a longer length as an option.

Interesting video, but you don't really feel the design well. Everything Fuji did to the body shape is perfectly right, the straight line of leather, the sharp edges... It is modern, it is good, it doesn't look like X-pro3 made of clay, which makes it ugly. I own X-pro3 and I don't like how details are designed. I am very happy to see minimalistic design of X100VI.

It’s the digital crop for sure. If you put it on a gimbal and used open gate, then it would be closer to the look of the DJI, which is also on a gimbal, but built-in. And that’s the ultimate issue of size and weight. The DJI is so much smaller and more convenient to use, but for real video work, you would probably go with the X-M5.

The DJI has better shallow depth of field ( 6:27 ) and I think that's because even though the Fuji PHYSICALLY has a bigger sensor, that shallow depth of field is eliminated one you go super wide (10mm being needed for cropping for digital stabilization on the Fuji). DJI Osmo Pocket 3 wins hands down. It also seems like it's doing a better job at keeping your face in focus compared to the Fuji.
@bigheadtaco3 күн бұрын
I should have mentioned this but because everything was in auto, the X-M5 was probably at f/5.6-8, while the DJI has a fixed aperture. If I wanted shallow depth of field, I would have used f/2.8 on the lens, but I would have to use a variable ND filter because the shutter speed would have been too high. But that’s the point. Unless you knew what you were doing, most beginner vloggers won’t know anything about the settings, shutter angle, and the proper use of variable NDs. The DJI just works.

I bought a new M-A in December. Now I realized I have ruined the first role - the shutter speed selection marker is at 9 o clock (from the shutter dial) and it is not that black dot at 6. Stupid me lol. Funny enough, the MA manual does not say that this tiny little indicator at 9 (even less visible in my silver chrome version) is an actual shutter selection marker. I have realized that watching your video. Thanks!

I don’t understand why they ditched the unique and slick design of SL typ601 and went to more sony/lunix-ish boring body design with sl2 and sl3. They even changed the body finish with more matt and plasticky paint. The white leica logo got thicker, which is ugly, not to mention the location of the red dot on SL2 and SL3 look like they couldn’t find the right place to put it and just attached it on the tight top space without any redesign attempts or thinking. In terms of body design, the SL series is devolving.
@photoworldcreations87536 күн бұрын
Agreed, from a design standpoint Leica seems to copy more SoNiCa, which is just disappointing. The step on the back of the SL3 as well as the slanted top on the front are an eye-sore to my eyes. And mainly there to hide the fact that the camera is much thicker than the SL2. The SL3 may have smaller width, it is thicker and if you do the math, it is actually a 4% bigger camera than its predecessor. The net chunkier feel means for me less comfortable to hold and to look at. Thank you for this great video, BHT, lovely to see them all three together. I had sold my 601 at the time, but your video makes me want to buy it back again for nostalgic reasons…
@pdk6 күн бұрын
the biggest change for me moving from the SL2(s) to the SL3 was the back/bottom corner. on the SL2 I found that it was just a little bit too pointy and dug into my hand. they smoothed that out just a bit in the SL3 and it made a huge difference in comfort. i'm kind of fascinated with the little step on the top/back. at first it seems like they're trying to pull a fast one, with some kind of visual trickery, but actually I find that it has a very practical effect. again, it's more comfortable than the SL2. rather than having a single right angle edge there, having the slightly sloped effect makes it much better for resting my thumb. ironically, the most noticeable change, the big control dial on the left, i can totally do without. i really do not like how they implemented the ISO control there. it's so confusing (when trying to change between auto and manual iso) that i gave it up. i just configure the left control dial to mirror the back control dial and basically ignore it. i would be happy if they drop it next iteration, but there's no way that's gonna happen. i suppose i should mention that i use sigma lenses which have aperture rings, so that's another reason i don't need/want the 2nd big dial on top.

Alot of the less expensive Fujifilm cameras have a 26mp sensor and lack IBIS, So having the 40mp sensor and IBIS Makes the camera worth the price, now the XT5 is about three hundred dollars roughly more than a XT50 but it's price was more at the time of release, in time the XT50 will come down as most camera bodies do. When the first OM SYSTEM OM1 came out, this is the one that still has Olympus on the camera the price was just over 2000 dollars, today you can pick one up for 1100 dollars body only from the manufacturer web site, not sure how long this will be as the price has been reduced for several months.

I’m happy to see the new button placement on the SL3 body. It makes it easier to operate with one hand. I wish the on and off button was moved over as well. The SL3 makes more sense from a design point of view. The two dials on both top ends is also nice. The SL2 was a little awkward. One dial on the top right and three buttons on the rear left. In my opinion, the SL3 looks well balanced.
@bigheadtaco6 күн бұрын
I agree from an ergonomic perspective, the SL3 definitely is more convenient. I forgot to mention the placement of the PC sync terminal on the EVF hump instead of inside the IO section on the side. It would have been a tight fit though.
